(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Pinocchio

Sometimes I call my pup Astrid by the name of Pinocchio.

"Does this angle make my nose look big?"

Yikes. I imagine this would have been more like Hitchcock's vision of Pinocchio.

Happy Wednesday!

Our Tip of the Day:
Some people say that if a dog's nose is dry and/or warm, that the dog is likely sick. This is actually a myth. The moistness and temperature of a dog's nose can fluctuate greatly throughout the day. If a dog's nose is dry, it cannot automatically be assumed the dog is sick. That's not to say the dog's nose can't be an indication of sickness, though. Type of moisture or discharge from the nose can be useful in determining whether a dog is ailing or not. If a dog's nose moisture suddenly turns from the typical clear, thin, cold wetness to a thicker, mucus-like discharge, that could be cause for concern. Also keep an eye out for any discoloration of your dog's nasal discharge, or if it becomes unusually crusty. If you have any concerns regarding your dog's nasal discharge and health, consult your veterinarian. Sometimes, the nose does know!

Astrid, we think your nose is perfect. Not too long at all. You have a great day.

There's a similar wives tale about cat noses - if a cat's nose is dry, he is probably sick. A friend told me that, and we joke about it all the time. It's important to know that this is a myth though. Thank you for sharing this myth about dogs!

Mom just read your comment. She is so excited that you are doing something for Astrid and Sampy, and absolutely cannot wait to see it. Woofie Astrid, you do have a rather long nose or is it the camera angle? Long nose or not, our mom is sending you a kiss for your nose.
