We hope that all of our furiends are having a lovely, sunshiney day!
Our Tip of the Day:
Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, which is of course very important for the body and its functioning. Taurine is an amino acid, one which cats, unlike dogs and other species, cannot manufacture themselves. Be sure to keep this in mind when feeding your kitty, as taurine-deficiency can lead to a variety of health issues. Commercial cat foods add taurine to their formulas, so that our furbabies receive it in their diet. So, if your kitty prefers to steal the dog's food, try to curb this and instead prompt them to eat their cat food, which contains the taurine they need. Also, if you feed your cat a home-cooked or other non-commercial diet, be sure it includes taurine-rich foods, such as chicken and fish. There are also taurine supplements, should your kitty need them. Most importantly, if you have any concern about your cat's diet and taurine content, consult with your veterinarian.
