Sunday Selfies

No week would be complete without the Sunday Selfie blog hop, hosted by the fantabulous Kitties Blue over at The Cat on My Head.

This week, our selfie hosts are kicking off the third year of their wonderful blog hop. Three years! That's something like, what, 30 years to a cat? Now that is what you call an accomplishment!

To celebrate, all of my furbabies wanted to participate in today's selfie hop. They couldn't all agree on a collective theme, though, so the selfies are all across the board.

Astrid went for a pensive, perhaps even a bit regal selfie. Oh, and of course she had to show off that purple collar flower of hers. Again.

Evan planted himself at the front door (big surprise), and ended up with this sleepy selfie in the sun.

Thimble decided on this barely-in-the-shot, stern-faced, ready-to-pounce, perhaps a little Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sort of selfie. Artistic license, as they say.

And then of course there's Eddy. She chose to go for a less-than-focused, I'm-struggling-to-sit-still breed of selfie. She zipped out of the room right after this shot was snapped, unsurprisingly.

And guess what? Even not-so-camera-friendly housemate Toby agreed to take a selfie!

It doesn't matter what kind of selfie you take, just that you try your best and have fun! So, head on over to The Cat on My Head and hop along. The Kitties Blue host today is Fiona, who is battling CKD, so please also join us in sending her lots and lots of purrs and prayers.

Wishing all of our furiends a beautiful Sunday!

Don't forget to tune in for today's Blogville Pawlympics event, Gymnastic Bathing! Although we were surprised to find ourselves with only a small collection of shots to select from for this event, my girl Thimble is indeed competing. Head over Toby's Wrecking Crew to witness the competition for yourself!

Our Tip of the Day:
Always keep in mind that age doesn't necessarily mean the same thing for our furbabies as it does for us. Sadly, yet inevitably, our furbabies age faster than we do. As I'm sure many of you know, the larger the furbaby, the faster it is that they seem to age. In their youth, small, medium, and large dogs and cats are more on a level playing field. At 1 year old, they're like a 15-year-old human, at 2 they're more like 25, and at 3 they're more like 30. After that point, the size of the animal starts to play more of a part. For example, at 10 years old, a cat or small dog is more or less comparable to a 55-year-old human, whereas a large breed dog is more like a human of 65. And at 15, a small animal is relatively 75 in human years, whereas a large dog is roughly 95. The long and the short of this slipshod math lesson is that it is important that all pet parents be willing to accept and, more importantly, address the early aging of their furbabies. At 6 or 7 years old, many furbabies are already considered seniors, and so it is important to keep this in mind when taking care of everything from selecting proper food for them to taking them to the vet. The good news is that, especially with today's advances in medicine and overall care, you just may very well be blessed with a 100-year-old furbaby!

How nice to see everyone, including Toby. You all know how to take a selfie- such cuties. Great tip, I wish our furbabies lived longer, but proper vet care does help extend their lives.

I love all of those selfies, but I think Toby's is my favorite. It's something special when the camera-shy guys among us participate, isn't it?
