Fill-Ins and a Feline Film Junkie

Who doesn't love Fridays? If you're raising your hand, you're lying. Anyway, we love Fridays around here. One of the best things about Friday is the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by our wonderful friends over at 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader.

We were looking forward to filling in this week's the second we saw them. There's even one about Halloween! Here they are:

1. My favorite store is _________.
2. An unanswered prayer I am thankful for is _________.
3. At Halloween, I _________.
4. I _________ the supernatural, because _________.

I dusted off my thinking cap and got to work. Here is where that led me:

1. My favorite store is Jo-Ann.
(Have you ever heard of Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft stores? Being someone who loathes shopping, this is one of the only stores to which I will happily go in person. They carry all sorts of wondrous things for arts and crafting, and I especially love to find new items and ideas for my mixed media art here. Walking through a Jo-Ann store gives me so much inspiration, it's almost overwhelming. Have you ever seen a Jo-Ann's button selection? Oh my goodness, I never thought buttons could be so mesmerizing. And if you go at Halloween or Christmas time, you might never leave. What's even better is that my sister gets these amazing coupon books for Jo-Ann, and then it's all over.)

2. An unanswered prayer I am thankful for is not getting the previous job for which I applied.
(Before I began working at my current job, I applied for a job that, at the time, I really wanted. I applied, I was interviewed, and I prayed. And I did not get the job. I was devastated. But then along came my current job, at which I am happy. No, my current job is not perfect, but it sure isn't too shabby either. I have since learned that the job I applied for and did not get has had a high turnover rate since then, due to some not so good reasons from which I was thankfully spared. Not to mention that my current job allows me much more freedom and free time and overall benefits than the other job would have, all which allow me to spend more quality time with my furbabies, which is pretty much the best thing ever.)

3. At Halloween, I listen to spooky tunes.
(There's a station on Music Choice that plays festive music year round. I tune in to it for two holidays, and those are Halloween and Christmas. During those times, I play this station nearly 24/7. The Halloween songs they play are always so fun and festive, some being eerie classics, some being from scary movies or TV shows, and some being special spooky tunes that you'll rarely or never hear anywhere but on that station. I love it, although I'm pretty sure my furbabies wouldn't mind if I turned the speakers, and my enthusiasm, down a bit.)

4. I like to watch movies and TV with the supernatural, because I enjoy the thrill.
(I enjoy a good movie or TV show with fantastical elements of the supernatural, as these always keep my interest. I even watch the TV show called none other than Supernatural. I believe in some of the things I see in such movies and TV, while others I may not believe in, or may not understand. But, either way, I do find them all intriguing and thrilling.)

Now, Eddy time! Eddy wanted her appearances on the blog today to be a special one. Don't worry, though, that doesn't mean she gave up her active and blurry ways. Rather, she wanted to give all of her furiends a glimpse into her favorite part of the day, and that's TV time! Around here, the TV only comes on in the evenings, after the human has eaten supper and completed all of her chores for the day. TV time means a stationary human, perfect for climbing on, one of Eddy's favorite things.

Since Eddy looks so forward to TV time, I sometimes let her help me pick out what we're going to watch that night.

That there is a blurry shot I caught of Eddy deliberating between True Grit and How to Train Your Dragon the other night. For the record, she chose the latter (which just so happens to be this full-grown adult human's favorite movie, so there's that).

With the movie of the night selected, Eddy will always settle into her first movie-watching pose of the night. It usually looks a little something like this:

Ah, the floor makes a purrfect royal throne. That is, until the human sits down. Then the human's lap is the best thing since, well, the floor.

So, do any our furiends have a movie night ritual?

And now, the last thing on the agenda for today is our daily drawing for JNW's Halloween Challenge. We're on Day 7, and the prompt is...monster! Eddy wanted to star in this drawing, but she informed me that she did not want to be a monster (at least not today). So, instead, she created a monster.

Wishing all of our furiends a fantastic Friday!

Our Tip of the Day:
This seems like a reasonable time to give a quick reminder that our kitties and pups do indeed have better hearing than us. Cats can hear a mouse moving about underground, and most dogs can hear sounds from at least a quarter of a mile away. This sure is amazing, but it's also why we need to be cognizant of how loud we are playing music, at what volume we put the TV, and even how loud we are speaking. Sounds that might seem loud to us are even far more so to our cats and dogs. So, for your furbaby's sake, please keep the volume to a minimum. Or, if nothing else, please ensure that there is a quiet room or area of the home where your furbaby can retreat if need be. Your furbaby will appreciate the peace and quiet!

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, nice answers. I love Joanne's too and I feel the same way you do in those stores. My brain goes crazy with ideas and I get the coupons from there too. Eddy is too cute picking out a movie, I haven't seen that one, I need to get it from the library. I saw True Grit and it is well done, but nothing a cat would want to see. I recently got The Fault in Our Stars from the library and that was fantastic. I love your monster drawing, very cute :) Have a nice weekend!

Eddy is so cute picking out a movie. :) True Grit is wonderful, but I agree with Ellen. It's not for a kitty, at least Eddy. I love the art of her creating a monster mouse! Our #2 answers are similar.

Yes, Annie definitely appreciates peace & quiet!

We have a new JoAnn's store here, I need to go check it out. I lived in one town that had one and it was awesome, best source for sewing and crafting supplies!

It sounds like you did indeed have the best "unanswered" prayer with the job you didn't get and the one you did. I think that often God says "I have something better for you, trust me."

I smiled at you loving Halloween music that much. Music is good for the soul! I also appreciated your reminder about pets and loud sounds, some people are forgetful of how sensitive their ears are.

I agree with you that movies and tv shows about the supernatural are intriguing. I don't watch the ones with dark/evil themes though. There is enough of that in the world and I don't want to glorify it.

I loved Eddy's photos, our four furkids are always parked in our laps and beside us at night, sometimes we look like cat trees! They are happy because we are sitting and ready to snuggle, just as Eddy does!

What a fun post! I love the art with Eddy creating a monster--so creative! That is so nice of you to let Eddy pick the movie. Our kitties usually sit around in the den while we watch TV. But if Connor wants attention, he climbs on Larry's computer desk and starts playing guitar on the window blinds. Then he watches as one of gets up to get him down, and he jumps down. Then does it again. LOL

Looks like Eddy made a good choice of movie. The art is very cute.

Great answers! Jo-Ann must be related to Michael since that's the craft shore we have around here. We used to love Halloween cos I had a pawsome set list for Nipclub with some great spooky and not so spooky music. I wonder if they play them on your channel. Roky Erickson, S & the Banshees, Marilyn Manson, Bauhaus. I hope Eddy picked a good program.

I love that picture of Eddy picking out a movie...too cute! When I watch TV Mudpie usually hangs out in her KatKabin. Our Jo-Anns store changed last year...it doesn't get the fun Halloween and Christmas decorations anymore, it's mostly all fabric.

Love JoAnn's. They always have great sales on their seasonal stuff. Plus, they are only about a mile from my house. Eddy's monster is pretty cute and so is your drawing, as always. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

Craft stores are great and there are so many things you can do with buttons besides fastening clothing. :)

I am glad that you ended up with the best job for you and your furbabies and were spared whatever badness is going on at the other place.

"Whisker Frankenstein" is cute. Great job, Eddy. :) I think that you made a nice movie choice, too.

That is also a great tip about keeping down the volume, for everyone's sake. Loud things affect us all and headaches are no fun at all.

Have a great weekend!

I love Joann's, too! It's funny how sometimes things work out the way they are supposed to even if they are not the way we would have planned them. Glad you found the right job for you! Love the picture of Eddy all stretched out the rug!

Great fill in responses. JoAnn's is one of the mom's favorite stores too. She just wishes she had more time and talent to do crafty things.

JoAnn is a pretty neat store, for sure. We also like Michael's, which is kind of like it. Eddy, you chose a great movie to watch, and we love Mom's drawing of you as Doc Frankenstein. :)

I like the Halloween music that Bill's band used to play, like Monster Mash! Ha!
I am not crafty, but respect and admire those that are. I cannot watch horror, but am fascinated by psychics.
