Happy Friday!

Happy Friday! Are all of our US friends looking forward to Thanksgiving next week? For our non-US friends, aren't you just plain ol' happy that it's Friday? We sure are.

Now, let's get right to the fun and festive Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by our good pals over at 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader.

This week's fill-ins are all about Thanksgiving, and we love it.

1. One Thanksgiving tradition I have is _________.

2. Black Friday _________.

3. The best part of Thanksgiving Day is _________.

4. One Thanksgiving, _________.

So festive! With our minds on turkey, we got to work and ended up with these:

1. One Thanksgiving tradition I have is watching the Garfield and Peanuts Thanksgiving specials on the big day itself.
(For me, there's just something so festive and magical about watching these holiday specials. Sometimes we watch them during our Thanksgiving meal, and I love it.)

2. Black Friday is when our Christmas tree finally goes up.
(In order to give Thanksgiving its just due, I hold myself back from putting the Christmas tree up before. But, come the Friday after Thanksgiving, it's all things Christmas here, all day, every day. I don't do the whole Black Friday shopping gambit, but instead put all my focus on decking the halls at home, blaring Christmas music, streaming Christmas movies on the TV, etc., etc. Oh, and it's also the day that I give my kitties their early please-don't-massacre-the-Christmas-tree bribe gift.)

3. The best part of Thanksgiving Day is family!
(I include both my furry and humanoid family in this. On Thanksgiving Day, my parents, sister, and I all usually stay in town and hang out, make a big turkey lunch and eat ourselves full, cuddle and play with the kitties and pup, all that jazz. Sometimes relatives will come into town and join us. It's wonderful, and gives us all so much to be thankful for.)

4. One Thanksgiving, I learned that I love sweet potatoes.
(As a child, for years and years, neither the thought nor the look of sweet potatoes appealed to me one bit. I don't know why, I guess I was just stubborn and refused to back down from my preconceived notion that potatoes of an orange hue simply must be avoided at all costs. Then, a few Thanksgivings back, my mom finally convinced me to try them. And now I love them. I have a the sweet tooth of all sweet tooths, and when my grandma mixes those sweet potatoes with marshmallows, it's heaven.)

Okay, now who's ready for Eddy? Eddy really sort of tried to sit still for a photo shoot his week.

But, it just wasn't meant to be.

I don't even know where to aim the camera most of the time.

That may or may not be Eddy's head.

*sigh*

Moving on, it's Eddy's turn to debut her foodie furbaby doodle-turned-magnet. So, here it is:

This one is a little easier to explain than Thimble's, but not by a lot. Eddy, like Thimble, is not a treat-eater, and she couldn't care less what foods her human of a mom eats. She likes dry cat food, and that's honestly it.  That sort of makes it hard to draw her as a foodie. But, she does love playing with the lids and rings from milk jugs. So, with that little tidbit, I settled on this for Eddy's food art.

Eddy and all of us here wish you a happy Friday!

Our Tip of the Day:
Today we have another repeat food tip for you. Remember that, despite those classic images we so often see, many cats are actually lactose intolerant. The sugar found in milk, lactose, can lead to digestive upset in many a kitty. For that reason, among others, it is often best that you avoid feeding your feline milk. If your cat shows a tendency to enjoy the occasional dairy treat but cannot tolerate milk, and you wish to indulge them, perhaps try a bit of yogurt. In the production of yogurt, lactose is broken down and therefore is less likely to cause the digestive upset that milk can. Still keep in mind, though, that any treats, including yogurt, or milk for those kitties who can tolerate it, should be only a very small portion of their overall diet.

Those are some great fill-ins. Sounds like you have a fun Thanksgiving. Love that drawing with you Eddy with that large glass of milk. You all have a wonderful day.

At least you got one clear shot of beautiful Eddy, she is so funny. That is an adorable magnet. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, IO always enjoy your answers. It makes me happy to read what a wonderful family you have and how you all spend the holiday together with your furbabies. I forgot about the Garfield Thanksgiving special, I need to see if OnDemand has that. I have the Peanuts collection of all their specials. I hope you have a nice weekend and Thanksgiving. Great tip too, Joanie is lucky, she loves all things dairy and they don't upset her tummy. The rest of my cats can't handle it.

Marshmallows are how I started eating sweet potatos. Now I usually eat them minus the marshmallows.

We always love to see what we can of Eddy :) Growing up I never had sweet potatoes because my Mom never made them ... now I can't get enough :)

We guess all our American friends are preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving. We really don't understand it, since our Thanksgiving is always in October!

Oh, Eddy. We know you tried. Good fill-in answers and great tip about being lactose intolerant!

That was one good photo anyway, Eddy. The magnet is very cute.

Oh Eddy! We guess you didn't want your picture taken this week.

Years ago we would put our Christmas tree up on the day after Thanksgiving as well. We would also break out all the decorations at the store. Back then, Black Friday for a Western Auto store was not an event.

I haven't watched the Garfield Thanksgiving special in years! Thank you for reminding me that I need to pull out my DVD. Garfield's Christmas special always makes me tear up when he curls up in Grandma's lap. (I'm such a sap.) I only tried sweet potatoes once and I wasn't a fan...

To answer your very first question up there: YES! I am very much looking forward to Thanksgiving! It is the best holiday ever. :)

That is a very nice magnet. I love all the shots of Eddy. The motion shots remind me of most the kitty pics that I take. You can't help but laugh. I can almost hear them saying, "Nope! Not gonna! Good-bye!" :)

Have a blessed weekend and a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I love those holiday specials, too. But, Peanuts is my favourite. We used to always put the tree up on the Friday after Thanksgiving, until Bill started trucking five years ago. This will be the first time he is home on it in five years! I am not sure what we will do this weekend, besides cook and eat. Ha!
