Keeping Busy

It's been a crazy week. Nothing all that major and certainly nothing tragic, just busy busy busy. I haven't had much of a chance to get my camera out and photograph my furbabies, but I will make time in the next day or so to get some shots of the adorable little ones, and of course I'll share them here. In the meantime, I'll re-share this older picture, which just happens to be one of my favorites:
Snooze buddies.
I'm sharing this one in honor of the fact that, for the next couple of days, Talon (pictured here with my boy Evan) and Trapper are staying at my house. In case you don't remember, they are Thimble and Toby's brothers, and they live with my parents. But, my parents are currently having new windows put in at their house. Since neither of their boys are afraid of strangers and since Talon is a door bolter, my parents didn't want to risk them giving the window workers an extra set of hands paws. So, I get to host a reunion with the whole squad at my house!

Evan and Talon were always buddies when they used to live together, as you can see above. I bet Evan's going to be one happy boy over the next couple of days!

I hope all you bloggers out there are having a great week!

Pensive Profiles

Evan and Thimble have been deep in thought lately...

I thought I could get a shot of Astrid in a pensive mood, but lately she has been more interested in playing ball than pondering the mysteries of life. I guess that's just the life of a dog.

Have a great day, bloggers!

Evan's Adventures

After owning it for nearly a decade, I just recently started experimenting with my digital camera's video recording abilities. I'm far from technologically savvy and tend to keep to the basics when it comes to such gadgets, which is why I've never owned a video recorder itself. Nevertheless, I've always wanted to share a video of Evan's means of ambulation and overall getting around. Now I can.

For anyone who is new to my blog and does not know, or for anyone who has simply forgotten, Evan does not have the use of his back legs. This is the result of a coyote attack that occurred just days before I met him at the age of 6 weeks. In the past two years Evan has gone from a more or less semi-feral barn kitten traumatized by a coyote attack that killed his mother and littermates and paralyzed him, to a (almost always) sweet and loving momma's boy. (His momma is perfectly content with this, by the way.)

The video is not high def by any means, but it does the job. In it, you'll see Evan start out on the furbabies' beloved Barney sleeping bag and then go into my bedroom and onto my bed. This is how the tough boy does his thing:
That's my boy!   >^..^<

Sunday Selfie

We're trying our hand paws for the first time at the Sunday Selfie, hosted by The Cat on My Head. Thimble really wanted to be the metaphorical guinea pig, so she took these after waking Mommy up this morning:
"How's this, Mom?"
"Whew, my eyelids sure are getting heavy. This selfie stuff is tiring work."
"Zzzzzzzzzz."
Well, we'll see if we can stay awake for more selfies next Sunday.

And, of course, Happy Father's Days to all you blogging dads out there!

Awww Interlude

Thimble wanted to practice some close-up shots...
This is her furrowed brow pose.
And here's the (sultry?) squint.
And then there's this.
How do you think she did? Is she model material?

Hand-me-downs

I bet we've all gotten our share of hand-me-downs throughout our lives. I give my furbabies old clothes and blankets all the time, and they always love initiating these little gifts by spending plenty of snoozie time on them. Most recently, my mom found my old sleeping bag from when I was very young. I got it when I was roughly 4 or 5 years old, and it has none other than Barney the Dinosaur on it. Since I've mostly outgrown Barney, I passed the sleeping on to my furbabies.

Now, who do you think was the first to become fast friends with Barney? The answer is...this girl:
Astrid loves taking naps on the Barney sleeping bag. It has also become her designated station for chewing on her chew bones.

The other furbabies, most especially Evan, also love the Barney sleeping bag. But, in the end, Astrid has racked up more snoozie hours on the Barney sleeping bag than anyone else.

Throwback Thursday

This Throwback Thursday is brought to you by little kitten Thimble:
Baby Thimble, cuddling her beloved orca whale toy back in 2014.
Thimble loved that orca whale toy as a kitten. Sadly, soon after this picture was taken, Astrid stole the orca whale and sufficiently gutted it. That's okay, though, because Thimble's moved on to preferring toys such as wadded up pieces of paper and crumbs she finds on the kitchen floor.

Happy Thursday!

Neighborhood Watch

I am lucky to have my own personal Neighborhood Watch living right under my roof.
Astrid and Evan keeping a watchful eye on the neighbors.
Oftentimes, all of the furbabies in my home - Astrid, Evan, Thimble, and Toby - will be lined up at the door, watching for any suspicious behavior outside. I have yet to get a shot of all of them in action together, though, as collectively they appear to be an undercover unit and tend to scatter at the sight of a camera.

My own personal gang of Neighborhood Watch also keeps an eye on my backyard. They make sure that none of the squirrels, birds, rabbits, or neighborhood cats get out of line. I sure am lucky to have such a vigilant lookout crew.

Art for an Angel

Today marks four weeks since my precious Rosie gained her angel wings. I still miss her immensely. But, I am learning to fill that hole in my heart with fond memories of her, and so the ache ebbs a bit more each day.

I mentioned once before that just as writing helps me to cope, so does art. On days that the loss of my sweet Rosie weighs heaviest on me, putting my thoughts into writing, such as here on this blog, is a very cathartic process for me. And so is creating art in honor of my Rosie. That being said, last Thursday I made a post about bringing home my Rosie's remains. That was such a surreal, bittersweet day for me, and when I got home with my sweet old girl's remains I immediately felt compelled to draw in her honor. I wasn't sure at first if I was going to share that resulting art here, but I now feel compelled to do so.
For my angel Rosie, forever loved.
It's been too long since I last thanked you all for your support. This blogging community is full of such wonderful people, and I appreciate each and every one of you.

Have a blessed day.

Who needs a cat bed when you have a perfectly good sink to sleep in?
