"Move aside, Mom." If my four-legged furballs could talk, it seems that would be one of their primary mottoes. That's okay, though. They're cute, and so I usually just let them have their way.
This evening at supper was one of those "Mom aside, Mom" moments. It was Thimble who requested me to move aside. She wanted my chair, and since her face is just so darn cute, she got her way.

"Move aside, Mom," Thimble said at the supper table tonight. "Feel free to sit on the sharp edge of the chair, Mom, while I sit on the nice, cozy cushion." |
I can't even begin to count the number of times that I've moved to another seat, sat on the edge of a chair, or even sat on the floor because one of my animals wanted my seat. Rosie constantly requests that I relocate so that she can sit in the seat that I've made nice and warm just for her. Needless to say, Queen Rosie always gets her way. There's also the fact that Thimble and her brothers all like to sit on the seat of my exercise bike. They especially like to do this when they see that I'm going to use the exercise bike, of course. And Astrid likes to beat me to the couch in the evening and stretch out on it, and if I happen to beat her to the couch she'll sit next to me and then use her feet to ever so nonchalantly push me out of her way. I'm convinced that Astrid gave Evan lessons in this tactic as well.
So be it, though. My four-legged furballs are usually just too cute to say no to. That's okay, though, because I'll just pretend that "Move aside, Mom" translates to "I want to sit by you so that I can cuddle you, Mom."

A close-up of Thimble after she usurped my supper throne. I just can't deny that face. |

I can really relate to this post -- our cats are masters at claiming THEIR seats. And we're always amazed at how one little kitty can stretch and take up half of the sofa (or the whole middle, so that we have to sit on the ends). Like you, we do it gladly. :)
