Birthday Bash and Then Some

To begin this post, we're going to wish a very special and beloved girl a happy birthday.

Happy birthday, sweet Angel Rosie! You are missed each and every day, but we know you are having lots and lots of fun at the Rainbow Bridge with all of your angel friends. Hugs and kisses and lots of love to you, Angel Rosie!

Rosie would have been 24 years old today. I was blessed to have 21 years with her on this earth, and while I do indeed miss her every single day, I do feel peace in knowing that she is now eternally young and healthy. Until we meet again, my sweet Rosie.

The birthday bash continues on, but we of course still have time for one of our favorite events of the week, which is the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge!

This fun challenge is hosted by our wonderful friends over at 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader. This week's fill-ins are as fantastic as ever.

1. My favorite fictional character is _________.
2. A new TV show or film I am looking forward to this Fall is _________.
3. One of my very favorite books is _________.
4. The best time to _________ is _________.

I really had to think on these, and here's where all that thinking left me:

1. My favorite fictional character is Toothless.
(I love to read, and I love to watch TV and movies, so I have a lot of favorite characters. But, because the inner child in me is still alive and well, I will always love me some How to Train Your Dragon, which of course stars the dragon known as Toothless. I think what especially draws me to Toothless is that though he's a dragon, he is portrayed as having a personality that is very much like a mixture of a cat and a dog. Obviously, I love both cats and dogs, and therefore I love Toothless. Not just that, but Toothless serves as a cute example that you should never judge a book by its cover. Oh, and fun fact? I used to watch the How to Train Your Dragon movie all the time with my birthday angel Rosie, and she loved to watch the dragons flying around on the screen.)

2. A new TV show or film I am looking forward to this Fall is Bright.
(I'll be honest, I couldn't really think of any shows or movies that I'm really stoked about this Fall. I just the other day saw a trailer for the Netflix original movie called Bright, though, and it involves something along the lines of humans and creatures like orcs coexisting in the world. As a fan of fantasy, I'm certainly intrigued.)

3. One of my very favorite books is The Hobbit.
(I am a huge fan of J.R.R. Tolkien, something for which I can thank my Tolkien fan of a dad. I have mentioned on here before how my dad read The Hobbit to me when I was perhaps 3 or 4 years old, and I loved it. That is one of my earliest memories. I also grew up with a map of Middle-earth in my playroom. I am admittedly a huge fan of the fantasy genre, most certainly a result of growing up with a fantasy-loving father, and The Hobbit will always have a special place in my life. Thanks for that, Dad!)

4. The best time to act is now.
(I'm pretty sure I gave an answer almost identical to this in one of the past couple of weeks, but this is a sentiment that I do my absolute best to follow. We are never promised tomorrow. I figure, if you have a dream or a goal or anything of the like, why wait? Go for it!)

Now, it's time for Eddy! Our post yesterday was about some lovely little librarians, particularly one named Laila, and our very own Thimble. Eddy didn't want to be left out, though, and so she asked that I snap some shots of her in the library.

These were taken on the new phone this human has. That being said, this human has no idea how to change camera settings on that phone, so all blame on quality can be put on Eddy's momma.

Eddy also made sure to model our scholar kitty bookends in her library shots, of course. Her momma got these for Christmas last year and is quite fond of them, which means Eddy uses any chance she gets to try and shove those beloved bookends to the floor.

Happy Friday, furiends!

Now, guess what? After something like a month of doing our tips only weekly, we sort of miss doing them daily. We cut back on them for the sake of leaving time for some side endeavors on which we're working. But, we miss doing those daily tips, and we also found out that a number of you really did enjoy our daily tips, and that you found them helpful. That makes us happy to know, and so we're going to go back to doing daily tips. So that we don't feel like we're all over the place with them, though, we're thinking we might select certain themes for our tips. For example, starting today and lasting for a couple of weeks or so, we're going to try to give tips on keeping those pups and kitties healthy and happy in the Autumn. You may see repeat or similar tips as past ones here and there, but when it comes to keeping our furbabies safe and sound, we're willing to sound like a broken record. So, here it goes...

***
Our Tip of the Day:
Though Autumn is upon us, there very well may still be fleas and ticks and potentially even mosquitoes out and about, especially in certain areas where cool weather is no guarantee. Each of these buggers can potentially lead to a variety of medical issues, ranging from dermatitis to serious diseases of the blood or vital organs. So, please do consider keeping up on those preventative treatments in order to keep your furbaby healthy and happy. And also remember that not all such preventatives are created equal, so do be sure to go for reputable treatments, and of course discuss with your veterinarian which type would best suit your furbaby and his or her lifestyle.

Happy Heavenly birthday to your sweet Rosie. They never truly leave us, do they? They are always in our hearts.

How cool that your daddy loved Tolkien! I enjoyed The Hobbit, too. The Lord of the Rings movies were very long, but I thought they were pretty cool. It sounds like you had an awesome playroom. :)

I agree with you that the best time to act is NOW. But, I'm still one that gets held back by fear of failure. I'm working on that, though!

I love your bookends. They are very pretty. :)

The mosquitoes are going strong here and, thanks to the flood waters, are going to get even worse. We have them all year long, really, just they are mega worse in the summer time and after rain. I've been eaten alive. At least the mosquito population has no chance of starving with me around. :)

Have a blessed weekend!

Happy Birthday in Heaven to Angel Rosie. You were truly blessed to have her in your life for so long. Very cute drawing of her. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, you always have wonderful answers. I love that your Dad read The Hobbit to you and you have memories of it. Toothless sounds adorable, I need to get this from the library. I used to watch Stuart Little all the time with KaChoo, other than baseball games, it was all she would actually watch.
Eddy is a beauty, great photos of her.
Yay! I am glad you will be doing the tips daily again and I like the idea of a theme for them. Have a nice weekend!

Happy Heavenly Day to your sweet angel...and to you for loving her. Love never forgets and should always be celebrated. I remember eading The Hobbit in high school, many moons ago. It was really popular then, too (1970s). I think it is a timeless classic. You dad sounds like a creative energy...like you. hugs!

I honestly can't believe it's been three years since Rosie passed away. Happy birthday to your sweet angel.

We have Netflix. I'll definitely look into Bright. Yes, The Hobbit, is a wonderful book!

Eddy looks so lovely! I love her stripes. Actually, now I know why she looks different. She's still!

I love those bookends!

Happy Birthday, Angel Rosie! You certainly lived a long time here on Earth; how kind of you to hang out with your hoomin for those years. Our weather has been up and down; I am concerned about ticks and fleas for The 'O' Cats.

Happy Birthday to Angel Rosie. I love those bookends! LOVE. I was never a fantasy or sci-fi fan, but I've certainly expanded my horizons as an adult. I just saw the Lord of The Rings for the first time a couple weeks ago. I still prefer to watch vs. read those genres - which is the opposite of my usual MO (read instead of watch). I really enjoy reading the DiscWorld series though!

The time to act is now. Which is why, in spite of not being organised ourselves, we are organising a fundraiser for the animals affected by Hurricane Harvey. We are not brilliant but we will act and raise funds to help suffering animals!!!

Happy birthday, sweet Angel Rosie!

We understand about how you miss her every single day (we miss our angels, too), but it's such a comfort to know they are healthy and happy now, and that we will see them again some day, isn't it? :)
