Pardon the quality of this photo, as it was snapped on a camera phone. But, anyway. What you're seeing in that there photo are Toby and Evan thoroughly enjoying Astrid's harness and leash. When I return home from a walk with Astrid, the boys usually intercept me as I remove her harness and leash. I then have to surrender the harness and leash to Toby and Evan, so that they can get their fix. They roll in Astrid's harness and leash, take big whiffs of them, drag them around, and just all around have a grand time with them.
The relationship between the furbabies at our house makes me smile. Don't get me wrong. There are certainly moments of disagreements and discord between the fursibs around here. But, for the most part, I just love watching them all interact. All of the cats just love pup Astrid to pieces. Well, except Eddy, who leaves it at tolerating the dog's existence. The other kitties, though, don't care one bit that Astrid's a dog. They love her no matter her species, and they follow her around, rub on her, and, for some reason, seem to enjoy rolling in her ears.
Astrid, for the most part, just lets the kitties have their way with her. It has always amazed me how terrified Astrid is of other dogs, but how she wants to meet every cat she sees. My parents have 11 cats, and not even a single one of them hide from Astrid. She is so great with cats, that even the ones who loathed the sight of her at first now tolerate her just fine. Oh, and some of my parents' cats also love to have their way with Astrid's harness and leash when she's at their house. Astrid must smell pretty darn good to the kitties in her life.
The fondness the kitties and pup Astrid have for each other, regardless of the classic inimical interactions often expected between these two species, got me thinking about an inspiring quote I've heard before. Though the Sparks blog hop is currently on hiatus, while host Annie of McGuffy's Reader takes a well-deserved blogging break, I figured I would still share this inspiring quote today.

Wishing all of you a lovely, love-filled day!

Our Doodle of the Day:
Today's doodle was created in honor or housemate Toby's love for strawberries. Over the next couple of days, our foodie doodles will be ones crafted up specifically for the furbabies around here. After that, we'll be tackling more of the suggestions you all gave us for foodie doodles. We're looking forward to drawing lots of foodie furbabies!

It is so great how dogs and cats can get along. When our dog Ande was here, all the cats loved her. It is great fun to watch. Great doodle. The picture of the cats with the harness and leash.Have a great day.
You like strawberries, Toby? REALLY? Hmmm... Peep #1 has some strawberry plants growin'. They're even bloomin' right now. You think I might like to try a strawberry, too? purrs
Those boys are funny with Astrid's harness and leash.
It's great that all your furbabies get along so well. Astrid's harness and leash looks very very interesting ! Purrs
I love that Astrid loves cats and they all love her. If I was guaranteed a dog that sweet, we would get another one. Our Katie was the same way, but after she passed away I was afraid to get another. Very cute doodle. And excellent tips.
While volunteering at a big box pet store at a cat adoption event, I witnessed a man and his German Shepard pick out a kitten...for the dog! Their cat had passed away, and the man was going to just have the dog, but the dog wanted a friend...and not a dog friend either! I find this fascinating; cats who prefer dogs, and dogs who love cats!
How nice that Astrid is so tolerant and patient with the kitties.
How lovely that your fur babies all love (or, in one case, at least tolerate) each other. We have a couple that are enemies on sight and have to be kept completly separated.
Nice doodle!
One of the things I miss about always having only one pet is watching the interaction between various personalities. They are just so fascinating to watch!
Whoa! The peeps just bought tons of strawberries but I prefer Chinese food. Do you follow the Cat Man of Aleppo on FB? They brought in a dog and some little kittens adopted her. It's the cutest thing to see them climb all over her.
Lorianne,
Cats can be fun to watch. I think if we ever get a pet again, then it will need to have a little partner because they are always so much more interesting as a pair. :) I like your little doodle. Do you sketch your artwork on your computer or tablet? Pardon my forgetfulness but did you visit in April while I did the A2Z Challenge? I did art sketches with my iPad. Anywho, thanks for the return visit on Friday. I'm just now getting around to visiting. Incidentally, I linked your Tuesday post to Monday's Music Moves Me! BTW, you may wish to add your direct URL to your Gravatar profile or else include it whenever you leave a comment. This gives not only me an a quick path back to you but for others to follow. ;) Have a great day!
