Friendly Fill-Ins

Happy Friday! We're ready to fill in the Friendly Fill-Ins. Are you? If you'd like to join us, please do! Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two statements, and I came up with the second two.

1. February is the perfect month to _________.

2. I have a subscription to _________.

3. _________ is my kind of humor.

4. I shouldn't _________, but I do anyway.

My answers are below in bold.

1. February is the perfect month to celebrate Astrid's birthday.
(I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day. That's probably why I don't celebrate it. What I am a fan of, though, is my pup Astrid. We don't know her true birthday, but a good estimate is sometime in February, given the age at which we found her. We celebrate her birthday on February 20. My sister's birthday is February 8, which is obviously this upcoming Monday, so that's another fun day in February.)

2. I have a subscription to next to nothing.
(I use streaming services like Netflix, but my parents, my sister, and myself all share one account that is in my parents' name, so I can't really claim those subscription services. My sister even added me as her plus-one on Amazon Prime, so I can't claim that as mine, either. I don't really subscribe to any magazines anymore. The subscription I'm most interested in is CatLadyBox, but I tend to just get random boxes here and there. I'll probably end up getting a true subscription to CatLadyBox in the future, though, because cats.)

3. Sarcasm is my kind of humor.
(I've been accused of having a sarcastic, dark sense of humor. Apparently this was also the case when I was a kid, because my friends way back in school used to accuse me of it. Back in those days I didn't really notice that's how I was until people pointed it out, but now I can see and understand what they mean. I don't like humor that is crass or dirty or that sort of thing, it's just that I guess my mind is a bit twisted sometimes. My family members still call me out on this. That's fine. On the other end of the spectrum, I also love the happy and playful humor that my furbabies bring into my life. They are a never-ending, adorable source of laughter, and I love it.)

4. I shouldn't give my furbabies treats just because they demand them, but I do anyway.
(I'm a real pushover when it comes to cute and furry things, and the cute and furry things in my life know this, so I get bossed around a lot by them. Evan even chases me when I go near his treats and legitimately screams at me, at the top of his lungs. He's relentless, and he always gets his way. Like I said, I'm a pushover for things that are cute and furry.)

Eddy's been sharing lots of shots from a photo shoot that occurred while she was distracted by an open window, on a freezing cold day. Today she wanted to share one of the photos that showed off not only her whiskers, but also her cute little tabby stripes.

Have a fantastic Friday!

Flashback Doodle of the Day

Today's flashback doodle is another one from the sort of gothic series of winter doodles we shared last year. We still have a couple of doodles to share in our newest series of classic winter doodles. After that, though, we'll be sharing a series somewhat inspired by this gothic-esque series from last year.

Tip of the Day

Our last tip related to Spay/Neuter Awareness Month is to make sure that you know and follow the proper pre-op preparation and post-op treatment for your furbaby's operation. Just as with any anesthetic event, there are some rules that will need to be heeded for your furbaby's health and safety. To begin, a cat or dog's food should be withheld well in advance to going under anesthesia. Ask your veterinarian how early to pull your kitty or pup's food, as their age can affect this. For example, adults may need their access to food cut off at 10 pm or thereabouts the night before surgery, whereas young kittens or puppies may need to be allowed access to food until the early hours of the morning of their surgery. Of course, also ask your veterinarian if there are other requirements prior to surgery.

The at-home care will continue after the surgery as well, of course, so also be sure that you follow these instructions from your veterinarian. For example, make sure you know how much and how often to give any medications that are sent home with your furbaby after surgery, which may include pain medication or antibiotics. It is also of course important to keep spayed or neutered furbabies calm and as least active as possible, so that they can recover safely and quickly. This is especially important for females, so that their abdominal sutures remain intact and their incision heals properly. If necessary, a kitten or pup can be secluded to a safe area of the house, where they can recover and heal as needed. Spaying and neutering is incredibly important, but so is the care required before and after the surgery itself.

Lorraine,

I can't pull off sarcastic humor well. DH is quick witted. Not only can he pull of funny stuff well, he knows how throw out some insult zingers at the appropriate moment, usually it's all in play. Unless you know him well you might not even know when he's being silly with you. I'm usually cracking up while others look at him dead pan not knowing what to make from his comments. That's my cue to step in to explain that he's kidding. I love your wintry scene, like always. Thanks for hosting the fun. Have a good weekend!

I enjoyed all your answers. I am pretty sarcastic too and I have been trying to keep it under control as my hubby gets offended. That is funny that Evan is so demanding. I think celebrating Astrid is better than Valentine's Day. Cute shot of Eddy and I like the flashback photo. Great tips too, I always worry about TNR cats being released so soon after getting fixed. Have a nice weekend. XO

I (TBT) especially liked #3. Sarcasm takes work. I am more often silently sarcastic, but sometimes in comes out, LOL!

BTW, you will get a kick out of this. We received your Christmas card last week. It was stamped 18 Dec and was nice and clean (didn't travel all around the country). Maybe it got mixed in with mail-in ballots. ;)

With regards to #4, Mudpie would like to visit your house for extra squeezies :) CatLadyBox is the best. I've been a subscriber since day one, and it's pretty much the only thing I subscribe to now.
