Friendly Fill-Ins

Hello and happy Friday, friends! We're ready for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, and we'd love for you to join us. My wonderful co-host Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two fill-in statements, and I came up with the second two.

1. A recent earworm I had was _________.

2. I have no interest in reading _________.

3. I would give _________ in exchange for _________.

4. _________ is my favorite scent.

My answers are below in bold.

1. A recent earworm I had was the Klondike bar jingle.
(🎜🎝🎜 What would you do-o-o for a Klondike bar? 🎜🎝🎜 This is actually still stuck in my head, and has been for over a week. I haven't had a Klondike bar in probably over a decade, and I haven't seen any commercials for it in probably just as long, so I don't know what's going on.)

2. I have no interest in reading books in which the dog or cat dies.
(I had a whole long explanation typed here, but suffice it to say that I was required to read Where the Red Fern Grows in my 5th grade English class, and ever since then I always look up whether the dog or cat dies before reading a book, or watching a movie or TV show, with a known animal character.)

3. I would give just about anything in exchange for my furbabies' good health.
(I don't think I have to explain this one to you fellow animals lovers out there.)

4. Baked goods is my favorite scent.
(Whether it's real baked goods or a candle, I love anything that smells like vanilla, chocolate, cookies, brownies, cake, and you get the idea. I've been building up my candle collection over the past couple of years, and my family knows that for occasions like Christmas, you can get me a candle that smells like any baked good and I'll be ecstatic.)

Tip of the Day

Today's tip can relate to our own furbabies, as well as ferals, strays, and other animals who live outdoors. When ice comes into play during the winter months, be very cautious when using salt, or ice melt. Most traditional salts on the market contain ingredients that can be toxic and can irritate cats' and dogs' paw pads. Irritation can also occur in the mouth, as well as in the intestinal tract, which is a concern if the animal directly ingests the salt or licks it off of their paws after walking through it. So, for the sake of your furbabies as well as ferals and other outdoor animals, avoid using typical ice melts. Instead, do your research or ask your veterinarian for recommendations on pet-safe ice melts. There are some ice melts on the market that are far more safe than typical salt used for melting ice, but even some labeled as pet-friendly can still contain ingredients that might be questionable. For this reason, it is always important to do your research. You can also opt for other alternatives, such as tossing some sand or other other similar, safe substrate on top of ice that forms in the winter. Sand and other such materials can allow for better traction and reduced slippage on ice, while avoiding chemicals included in many ice melts.

I've stopped reading books where an animal was mistreated as a plot device.
Nope, not entertaining to me AT ALL.

I can't stand reading anything where an animal is killed. Same with movies and TV shows.

Eddy is definitely a cutie.

Great answers. I am the same way with books about animals. I have not even seen The Lion King and that is animated. Eddy is a cutie. I like the drawing and your tips are excellent. We use plain sand.

Naptime Eddy, you are gorgeous.

I have read some books which span the whole life of the cat or dog, so you know the end, and i understand why it could be hard for some people to read. Everyone has what s/he can deal with, and what s/he can't.

Supurr fill-ins and totally agree with #2, we won't watch any anipal movies/tv shows either where this is the case, in fact if there is any sign of potential trauma/stress no matter how tiny, we change channels.

Looking totally terrific Eddy!
