Autumnal Adventures with Astrid

Hello and happy Wednesday, friends! Just like last week, pup Astrid wanted to give you all a glimpse of the hints of autumn we've been finding on her walks.

There are a handful of trees trying to change color over here in our corner of the world. There aren't many pretty leaves on the ground just yet, but when we do find one, we celebrate it. We're also incredibly excited because next week, we'll finally be leaving the 70°F and 80°F weather behind, at least for a time. Next week's forecast is almost all highs of 50°F to 60°F, which is weather that Astrid and I both greatly enjoy.

Wishing you all happy autumn days!

Not So Spooky Doodle of the Day

Today's new Halloween doodle is yet another furry character from the story I'm currently writing. As I've said with this week's other drawings, this story takes place around Halloween, because I couldn't help myself. This character is a corgi pup. Again, I'm pretty sure I know what this doggo's name is, but I'm not 110% positive and so I'll just leave it a secret for now. Also, for this reason and that, this corgi can talk. And she has a lot to say.

Tip of the Day

It is not only important to prevent your furbaby's access to dangerous products during the Halloween season, and to know the signs of potential toxicity, but also to know when and where veterinary offices are open in your area. Of course, it is ideal that emergencies be prevented by taking precautions. Sometimes, though, accidents and emergencies do happen. For this reason, it is important that you are aware of the hours and locations of certain veterinary clinics in your area. What time does your regular veterinary clinic close? Are there emergency clinics in the area? If so, when are they open, and where are they located? Planning ahead for potential emergencies may sometimes prove unnecessary, which is a good problem to have. But, in the event of an emergency, such as if your kitty or pup breaks into the candy stash on Halloween, you can save precious time and potentially your furbaby's life by knowing ahead of time where you can take them for veterinary care in an emergency situation. This is important any time of the year, but of course including during holidays such as Halloween, when dangerous products and situations may be more prevalent.

Oh, Astrid, what a perfect leaf! A sure sign of autumn and yes, good advice on Halloween goodies. LOVE your fill-in suggestions, always. Maybe we haven't said so before but we LOVE them. Brain-teasers, all.
