Hello and happy Friday, friends! We're ready for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, and we'd love for you to join us. My amazing co-host Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two fill-in statements, and I came up with the second two.
1. _________ was the best advice I ever received.
2. _________ was the worst advice I ever received.
3. If I knew how to _________, I would _________.
4. I thought _________, but it turned out _________.
My answers are below in bold.
My answers are below in bold.
1. Do what you love was the best advice I ever received.
(My dad once made a comment to me about basing life goals and plans on what you love doing, not just on what you're good at. I know that might be an odd distinction, but it's a distinction I could relate to at the time, and I still relate to it now. Those words have always stayed with me, and I'm doing my best to ultimately live by this advice.)
2. Put less focus on creative endeavors was the worst advice I ever received.
(There have been people here and there in my life who, when they find out I like drawing and writing, have told me not to focus on those. I've heard more than once, even by near strangers, that a person can't do anything useful with the arts. As a kid, I did take those comments more to heart, which is in no small part why I studied the sciences in college and have always had science-oriented jobs. The older I get, though, the more I realize how wrong those people were. What's more, all those words I've been told in that vein now make me work even harder on my art and writing in hopes of actually turning them into something one day. I want to succeed even minimally in that not only for myself, but to prove all of them wrong. Remember my answer to #1 above? My dad told me that after I'd already started studying and working in the science field, and I honestly wish I'd heard his words sooner.)

3. If I knew how to make our furry friends live longer, I would do it in a heartbeat.
(This goes without saying.)
4. I thought Evan had a UTI, but it turned out to be another cystitis flare.
(I mentioned Evan's current battle with cystitis in yesterday's post. I know this sounds terrible, but I think I was actually hoping Evan had a UTI. After all, Evan's UTIs tend to resolve pretty well with antibiotics, even if he needs a longer course of them. On the other hand, cystitis is far more difficult to resolve, at least for Evan it often is. Evan's current cystitis flare is one of his worst ever, if not his worst ever. It's likely flaring as a result of us losing sweet Astrid, as they were close. Evan's vet and I have adjusted and added medications to his already hefty armory of drugs, and I really hope he starts feeling more relief soon.)

Usually by now I've started doing some silly Halloween photo shoots with my furbabies. With everything going on, though, I haven't yet. I hope to do so soon. Oftentimes, these photo shoots involve a particular ghost pal I've had since I was a kid.
Of course, Eddy's photos shoots, Halloween or not, often end up a bit like this. She is, after all, my blooper pro. These particular bloopery shots were taken quite a few years ago, but I'm sure her Halloween shots from this year will look roughly the same.
Eddy wishes you all some kooky fun!

Evan is in my prayers. I feel so bad for him. I hope you can give him a lot of quality time this weekend. Sorry people steered you away from artistic endeavors. You are so talented, I am sure you could have a career in the arts if you wanted to. Adorable shots of Eddy and I like the drawing. XO
