Once upon a time, the lamp seen in this picture was found in pieces on the floor. Strange, that. |
I guess this makes Thimble my library mascot. That seems perfectly apt, as she does love books, especially lying on them, while I'm reading them.
Perhaps this would be as good a post as any, then, to share a picture of this bookmark I made for the upcoming art fair benefiting the local animal rescue group Hospice Hearts:
Happy Friday, everybuddy! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Our Tip of the Day:
Always remember your furbabies when considering the dangerous effects of certain insects and creepy crawlies. Whether you're at home or on vacation with your furbaby, if see a brown recluse spider, a black widow spider, a rattlesnake, or other potentially dangerous creatures, keep an eye on your furbaby to ensure their safety. Bites and venom can be just as poisonous to your furbabies as to you.

That is a great book mark. It is always good to be a library Mascot. Out Lil Mum will take out books from the book cases. You all have a great day.
That bookmark is great! And how nice that Thimble keeps you company while you read.
I bet lots of people buy that bookmark and benefit Hospice Hearts. It is just darling.
I love to read too. Your library area looks so nice. Of course, Thimble makes it all the better!
I love that bookmark!! It's beautiful and I LOVE what it says. I am a big reader too and have a certain chair I sit in when I read. My kitties like the same books I do. :-)
P.S. How do you keep the finished bookmark from "curling" at the edges from the glue or paint or whatever? I've had that problem.
I'm so glad you like the bookmark - thank you!
I know exactly what you mean about curling edges, as I battle my fair share of those as well. I have the best luck against curling edges when I use cardboard as a base rather than paper. To make bookmarks, for example, I'll use a thin cardboard, something like that of a tissue box, and then apply any paper, drawings, etc. on top of it using Mod Podge. That being said, I've learned that when using wet media such as Mod Podge, less is better if you're trying to combat curling edges.
But, even when using cardboard and as little Mod Podge as possible, sometimes the edges will still try to curl for me. What I do then is simply counter-curl and roll the edges in the other direction, both while it's drying and once it's finished drying, until the edges finally decide to lie flat. I also have to do this for my basic drawings, which I tend to create on simple index cards. I do a lot of counter-curling of edges when I go ink crazy on those.
Thank you for reading my blog, and for your kind words about my art!
What a cute bookmark, we love it ! Thimble seems to appreciate your reading. Purrs
Thimble is a great mascot. I love that bookmark.
Thimble is a sweetie. Cats do seem to like reading. I love the bookmark. Great tip. Can you believe they want to put rattle snakes on an island in the Quabbin Reservoir only about 5 miles from where we live?
Cats. Books. What else matters??? And I can't even begin to tell you how much I love that bookmark. It is SO me!!!
Cats and books just go together...whether for reading or sleeping upon. The bookmark is really cute. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
