Another Festive Friday

Can you believe it's only just over a week until Christmas? Things are feeling mighty festive these days, and that includes the always fun Friendly Fill-Ins, which are hosted by our friends Ellen of 15andmeowing and Annie of McGuffy's Reader.

In this homestretch before Christmas, our hosts have given us some festive fill-ins.

1. Snow _________.
2. I _________.
3. One holiday memory that I cherish is _________.
4. I always thought that Santa _________.

I tried to do these festively proud.

1. Snow is one of winter's greatest beauties.
(I know that it's cold and poses its share of dangers to both humans and animals, but there really is something so pure and beautiful about snow. I always hope for a white Christmas.)

2. I always include my furbabies in the Christmas festivities.
(There's really no surprise in this, and I know I am certainly not the only one. The furbabies in the family get their own gifts, treats, special Christmas dinner, and all that fun and festive stuff. After all, they're part of the family!)

3. One holiday memory that I cherish is visiting Candlestick Lane.
(My hometown has a neighborhood where nearly all of the residents used to participate in a Christmas lights display known as Candlestick Lane. They would all deck their houses out in all sorts of lights and festive fun. Those participating in this, which used to be a great many houses, would also put a lit candlestick decoration in their front yard, hence the name Candlestick Lane. My family used to always drive through Candlestick Lane after going to church on Christmas Eve, and my favorite year we went was once when it was also actively snowing at the time. Sadly, though Candlestick Lane still exists, very few people participate anymore. This is in large part why I cherish these memories so much.)

4. I always thought that Santa was a man of magic.
(What's more magical than a man who can travel the whole world in one night, climbing up and down chimneys and leaving goodies for every single child? Come to think of it, I still think Saint Nicholas is pretty darn magical.)

Continuing on with our festive Friday, we now have a bit of Eddy for you.

As per usual, Eddy had no interest in sitting still for this particular photo shoot. She was sitting all cute where I could see her in a gap in the Christmas. Eddy did as she usually does and stared up into the tree with big, excited, expectant eyes. Of course, all I could grab was this blurry shot.

On another note, don't you just love her little snaggletooth? I sure do.

Wishing you all a festive Friday!

Our Tip of the Day:
We've mentioned how festively scented candles can pose obvious risks to our furbabies, and today we're here to discuss how using potpourri to fragrance your home can also be dangerous to your furbaby. If you use liquid potpourri or essential oils to make your home smell like Christmas, or if you use them year round, be extremely cautious using them around your furbaby. Both ingestion and skin contact with some of these scented items can be extremely dangerous and toxic to your kitty or pup, causing anything from skin irritation to symptoms such as vomiting, difficulty breathing, and weakness. Just some of the essential oils and other similar products that can cause illness are those derived from cinnamon, pine, peppermint, and citrus. Therefore, if you holiday season includes using oils or potpourri to make your home smell festive, be extremely careful to keep all such products safely out of your furbaby's reach.

Eddy looks cute posed where she is in the Christmas tree. How the kitties love Christmas time! I remember when we had a furbaby, she would scale our tiny tree to reach this one ornament, our 1st Christmas Peanuts ornament. Luckily it was plastic. All the rest were glass bulbs which got smashed. Thanks for sharing the tip of the day. Both of my daughters have furbabies and I know they like candles, scented oils, ... so I will share this with them. They may already know but I'll pass it on anyhow. Have a happy and bright Christmas! BTW, love your fill-ins! ;)

I love your images and your answers. Eddy is always a cutie! Of course you include your furkids! Your answer to snow is great. I agree with you. Each season has its own harshness, but also its beauty. Sometimes, these are the same things. Life is filled with contradictions. But, it is all there. Your #4 is close to mine. Are we related?? We do that a lot! Hugs!

Eddy is such a little doll. Love your answers! Candlestick Lane sounds like it came right out of a storybook.

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. Candlestick Lane sounds pretty, such a shame that everyone doesn't participate anymore. There is a park 20 minutes from us that has amazing light displays. It costs about $10 per car to drive through but is well worth it. Eddy is so adorable playing with the tree. And I like the drawing of her on the top. Excellent tip too, those oils with sticks really scare me because a lot of cats like to chew on things like that.
