Happy Easter!

HAPPY EASTER!

(Or happy Passover! Or happy whatever day you want it to be!)

I asked for at least one of the furbabies around here to snap a festive Easter selfie to share today. The only furbaby who was willing to sit still for the camera was, incredibly surprisingly, Eddy.

As you can see, though, this sunny shot is not a very festive selfie. Eddy was not into posing with any of our Easter props. That's why we're now going to do a throwback to last year's Easter selfie. This one stars none other than pup Astrid.

Both Eddy's non-Easter and Astrid's throwback Easter selfies are our contribution the Sunday Selfies blog hop, which is hosted by none other than the Kitties Blue of The Cat on My Head.

Today is not just Easter or the day of the Sunday Selfies, though. It's also the first day of the A to Z Challenge.

As I mentioned in a previous post, for this year's challenge, I am putting animal-inspired twists on the titles of classic novels, stories, and poems, and am then creating doodles to match those new titles.  Today, for the letter A, I was inspired by Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic novel Anne of Green Gables. But, for the challenge, this became Anne of Green Stables.

Stay tuned tomorrow to see what classic tale we warped for the letter B!

Have a blessed Easter and a stupendous Sunday, friends!

Our Tip of the Day:
Today's tip, inspired by Easter itself, is to always think twice before ever giving anyone an animal as a gift. This could include giving a bunny to a child for Easter, as well as giving a puppy as a Christmas gift, or a kitty as a birthday gift. Caring for any animal will of course take time, effort, knowledge, and preparation. What's more, some animals, such as rabbits, have special dietary or other needs. This is why taking on an animal as a pet should be done with forethought and preparation by the pet's new owner. Giving a child a rabbit for Easter, therefore, could lead to a rabbit ending up in a situation with lack of proper care, and an overwhelmed child or parents. The same goes for giving any animal as a gift, especially if the recipient has not made the proper preparations or does not have the resources to care for a pet. So, never forget that giving an animal a proper home with proper care is something that should always be discussed, researched, and for which the owner should sufficiently be prepared. We have no doubt that all of you reading this already know this, but we're think it might not hurt to spread the word.

EDIT: Our friends over at ATCAD made a good point that we should have noted in our tip. If a responsible pet owner wants a pet as a gift, that is a bit of a different story. Someone whom you know well, who is already a proven kind and caring pet owner, and who wants another animal, is someone who could receive an animal as a gift. We bet there are plenty of wonderful pet owners out there who have received a best friend in this manner.

Happy Easter!!!! We would add that it is OK to give someone a pet as a gift if THEY ASK FOR IT. Fenris was Mom's birthday present. She had to be sneaky and ask for a FENCE for Christmas, cause every time she asked Daddy about getting a dog he would say "I would like to but we don't have a fence".
