Mancat Monday

There's a certain mancat around here who loves him some sunshine.

Evan could not be happier with our weather these days. Because, honestly, just look at that sun!

Over here in our corner of the world, Mother Nature missed the memo that it's spring. Evan doesn't mind, though. He'd much rather the sun puddles than springtime rain clouds.

Have you friends of ours been having lots of sun these days? Did you skip over spring and get right to summer like we did?

Evan and all of us here wish you a beautiful day full of sunshine!

Our Doodle of the Day:

My sister recently told me about a website she found that offers drawing prompts. She told me how one of the prompts challenged participants to draw a mermaid. That reminded me how, way back when, I once drew Evan as a mermaid. This is actually an inside joke in my family, because, due to his hind limb paralysis, sometimes Evan sits on the edge of furniture with his back legs dangling down in front of him. This pose of his always brings to my mind the image of a mermaid sitting with its tail (or is it called a fin?) dangling down.

Anyway, longs story short, I thought I'd go ahead and recreate that old doodle of mine. So, as weird as it is, here is Evan the mercat.

My sister said that another prompt on that drawing website specifically said to draw a dog as a mermaid. I decided to take that challenge, too, with pup Astrid in mind. You'll see that one on Wednesday.

Our Tip of the Day:

Given the sweltering weather we've been having theses days, we're doing a series of tips all about summer safety for our furbabies. Yesterday, we discussed how to recognize the signs of overheating in cats and dogs. Today, we're here to remind you that, to avoid potentially fatal heat stroke in your furbaby, never leave them alone in a car. In the heat of summer, the inside of a car can reach temperatures well above 100°F within a matter of minutes. Even with the windows open, the inside of a car can still become not only stifling, but also incredibly dangerous.

Also keep in mind that the car is not the only location that can pose the risk of overheating. Garages, sheds, and of course even the great outdoors can be dangerous places on hot summer days. In short, as you all certainly know, never leave your furbaby in a car or anywhere that can easily overheat on summer days. Just like us, kitties and pups can indeed suffer from heat stroke if left in overheated conditions, and this can be fatal.

Evan I love sun too and I don't care if I'm getting it at a window or a reflection on the floor or ANYWHERE - sun is sun right? I think you make an adorable mercat in the doodle today. You are unstoppable and an inspiration - now that's a great accomplishment my friend!

Hugs, Teddy

That is one jam-packed post! Love..I mean, love! Your doodle and good advice when it gets real hot. Sunshine? We cats like to get re-charged with those rays so we can spread it around when it's all cloudy. - Tom x

Those are great shots of Evan enjoying the sun. And he makes a great merman too, I like that drawing. I am not a fan of the ocean, but I love all things mermaid. Excellent tips too, heat is dangerous.

Usually, I've already put away my winter clothes by now, but am afraid to do it this year! Evan is so cute!
