Anyway, what we're saying is that just before we were going to test out her review food, Astrid had one of her intestinal flareups. We've learned that giving her any new foods during these bouts will only serve to make it worse. So, we held off on her review until she was all back to normal.
Astrid's intestines are now once again happy, and so she got to try her some new food to review. What, exactly, did this pup test out? The answer to that is PurinaⓇ BeyondⓇ natural dog food, in lamb and whole barley.
It is one of my goals as a pet parents to always feed my furbabies as natural of food as possible. That being said, I have been blessed with some seriously finicky furbabies, so this is not always an easy task. Whenever my furbabies do like something good and healthy, I'm thrilled.
So, I was eager to try Astrid out on this natural dog food from PurinaⓇ. Ranch-raised lamb is the #1 ingredient. In fact, the food has a total of nine natural ingredients, with some added vitamins and minerals. There are no poultry by-product meals, and no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. There is also no corn, wheat, or soy.
You know what else is great about this food? That the kibbles are small. This is of course a plus for small pups, but it's also a plus for 70-lb Astrid. This is because she simply loathes big kibble, and chewing in general.
Of course, the real test is what Astrid thinks about the food and how it tastes. I had a sense of hope for this food pretty early on, though. Why? Because this:
When Astrid comes in to breathe down my neck while I photograph her review food, I always consider that to be a good sign. After all, Astrid is known for exiting the room with theatrical flare if the food present does not appeal to her. What's more, though I failed to get photographic evidence of this, Astrid waited for me to turn my back, dragged that bag of food from the counter, and tried to steal some for an early taste test. If that's not a good sign, I don't know what is.
Those who visit us frequently might already know that I can't get an action shot to save my life. I really tried to photograph Astrid in the act of scarfing down her new food. Unsurprisingly, I failed. Because, well, like I said, I have no skill with action shots. So, this is what you get:
In case it's not obvious, Astrid gives PurinaⓇ BeyondⓇ natural dog food four paws up. She really enjoyed the lamb and whole barley flavor, but this food also comes in other flavors that I have hopes Astrid will enjoy just as much.

We are wishing all of you a tasty Tuesday!

Our Doodle of the Day:
We've been feeling extra bookish over here lately. So, we're going to do a bookish series of doodles. One of my favorite things to create are bookmarks. The best part is how easy that is, since it really just requires that I cut paper to bookmark size and then scribble away on it, like I did with this one here:
We're pretty sure you've probably seen a doodle almost identical to this one from us before. This is a new one, though, and it is just the first in our series of bookishness.

Our Tip of the Day:
Today's Spring safety tip is all about that Spring cleaning. In our series for Pet Poison Prevention Month, we gave some tips on household items that can potentially be toxic to our furbabies, such as if ingested. Some of these dangerous products are, of course, household cleaners. Various detergents, for example, can be very caustic or can contain toxins. This is why, if you are planning on doing some Spring cleaning around your home, always think ahead and take your furbaby's health and safety into consideration.
As needed, block your kitty or pup from the rooms you are cleaning, such as with closed doors or baby gates. What's more, when cleaning products are not in use, store them safely out of reach, where curious paws cannot reach them. It is true that some household cleaners are dangerous while others are not, but if you are in any way unsure of a product's safety, err on the side of caution, assume it is dangerous, and keep it away from those furbabies while you Spring clean.
