Friendly Fill-Ins

Hello and happy Friday, friends! We're ready for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge. Are you? Feel free to join in on the fun! My co-host Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two fill-in statements, and I came up with the second two.

1. Something I lost and was never able to find was _________.

2. When _________, I want to _________.

3. _________ doesn't bother me.

4. I don't handle _________ very well.

My answers are below in bold.

1. Something I lost and was never able to find was one of my favorite socks, and another one, and another.
(I am constantly losing socks. Since childhood, I'll have favorite pairs of socks that will suddenly not be a full pair anymore, or will sometimes just stop existing altogether. I feel like every dryer I've ever had just up and eats my socks. That, or little sock gremlins sneak in and steal my socks like the stealthy little thieves they are.)

2. When I'm away from home, I want to go back home.
(I'm pretty sure I've worked this sort of answer into something like a dozen fill-ins now. It's the truth, though. I'm a major homebody. I want nothing more than to be home with my kitties and pup. This is just one reason why it's still a major goal of mine to be able to work from home some day, and why I'm that weird person who doesn't like vacations. I do like staycations, though.)

3. My kitties and pup being on the furniture doesn't bother me.
(There are people out there who don't allow animals on their furniture, and those who do allow it. I definitely allow it. In fact, it's more so whether or not I'm allowed on the furniture. When I am indeed allowed on the furniture, I prefer to have furry company with me.)

4. I don't handle the cold very well.
(This answer was completely inspired by our current weather. It's been reaching temperatures below freezing overnight lately, and I'm just not yet ready for that level of cold. As a kid, I used to love winter. I loved snow and any cold climate in general. When I got older, I started having a love-hate relationship with winter. I still think snow is pretty, and I love Christmas, but the cold itself is killer. This might be my new sentiment simply because, in my early 20s, I developed Raynaud's disease. Raynaud's is not a serious ailment and so I really can't complain all that much, but it does involve poor circulation in the fingers and can cause them to turn white and blue when exposed to cold. That can get a little unpleasant, and so now winter makes me cringe just a bit.)

Are you ready for your Eddy fix? Today, Eddy wants to remind you all how much she loves her brother Evan. She's not a cat who likes other cats, except for Evan, whom she adores.

That perspective makes it look like Eddy is huge compared to Evan. That is not the case. The two are pretty comparable in size, if Evan's not a tad bit bigger.

Have a fantastic Friday!

Tip of the Day

Our pet cancer prevention tip for today is about food. Quality food, that is as natural and nutrient-dense as possible, is important for our furbabies for a variety of reasons. One such reason is to promote a healthy immune system that can sufficiently ward away diseases, including cancer. Foods of poorer quality not only put a kitty or pup at risk of an unhealthy immune and other systems, but can also potentially contain ingredients that are less than beneficial to their health overall. For both our furbabies and ourselves, some artificial ingredients and preservatives in certain foods have even been found to be potentially carcinogenic. For this reason and others, if possible, please do consider a high quality diet for your furbaby. Foods with natural ingredients are most ideal, as these will of course provide natural nutrients that can help keep your furbaby healthy and happy all around. As most of you already know, food plays a large role in life for a vast number of reasons.

Along this same line of thought,  keep in mind that obesity also puts kitties and pups at risk of a variety of diseases, potentially including certain forms of cancer. Over the past few decades, scientists have been discovering links between fat cells and cancer in humans, and now also our furry friends. For this reason, not only be aware of what types of food your furbaby consumes, but also how much. An active lifestyle is also of course important for warding off obesity and to help fight certain diseases. Also, as we always say, never hesitate to discuss with a veterinarian your furbaby's health, including their diet, weight, and risk of cancer.

Beautiful picture of Eddy.

I let the cats go on the furniture too. In fact, often I encourage it :) Have a great weekend!

Great answers to the fill-ins. Maybe the kitties steal your socks. :) I had a similar answer for #2. I can see why you wouldn't like the cold when you have Raynaud's. I love the photo of Eddy and Evan. That is so sweet. Cute drawing and great tips too. XO

Adorable picture and doodle! OMC...I found a way we're different! In my fill ins I answered that the cold doesn't bother me, but I can certainly understand why you feel the way you do. And I would be able to work from home at any time, but I'm hesitant. For some reason I just feel more productive in the office, even though I would prefer being home with Mudpie all the time.

Every year, since we cared for outside cats, I've disliked Winter a great deal!
I'd worry, spend time refilling water bowls and buckets, and adding windbreaks around the feeding station.
This time, we've got no kitty outside that depends on us, and it's going to be a real shift in perceptions.

Dryers do eat socks, but you can get garment bags to zip them in, or little plastic things that clip the socks together for washing. It helps.

Cold can be downright painful, can't it.

Love Eddy with her Evan!
