Friendly Fill-Ins

Hello, friends! Sorry we're late to post yet again. The short story is that there were some technical difficulties. What's new? The long story is that our neighborhood is finally getting internet upgrades. Finally. They were even running new wires in our back yard the other day, much to pup Astrid's chagrin. But apparently getting internet upgrades means that sometimes your internet just up and takes a hike. And since I waited until last minute to top off this post, I yet again had to wait for a break while at work to finish it, since at least the internet is currently functioning at my workplace. Okay, enough rambling, don't you think?

Are you ready for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge? Feel free to join in on the fun! My co-host Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two fill-in statements, and I came up with the second two.

1. I have a _________ on my _________.

2. I wish I could speak fluent _________.

3. I wonder what would happen if _________.

4. If I want _________, I'm going to have to _________.

My answers are below in bold.

1. I have a lot on my mind.
(Is this not the case for everyone? There's just a lot going on these days, so my mind is racing some sort of marathon.)

2. I wish I could speak fluent cat.
(If I could ask my cats what's wrong when they don't feel well, or just have a discussion with them, that would be amazing.)

3. I wonder what would happen if my cats and I spoke the same language.
(As much as it would be helpful and fun to be able to speak a common language with my cats, as I mentioned above, I can also see how it could potentially be...confusing? Strange? I'm not sure what, exactly, but it would be something different.)

4. If I want something done right, I'm going to have to do it myself.
(The older I get and the more responsibilities I take on in life, the more I realize this sentiment to be true.)

Are you ready for your Eddy fix? Today, the blooper queen has some blurry shots to share of her checking in on her year round Christmas tree.

Eddy loves climbing Christmas trees so much, and for some reason that led me to setting one up in my room for her to enjoy year round. Because why not. Soon enough, all of our Christmas trees will be up. And swarmed with cats.

Happy Friday, friends!

Flashback Doodle of the Day

One other technical difficulty with today's post involves the file that is supposed to be my doodle for today. It's supposed to be the illustration for our weekly poem, but I very recently discovered that the file is corrupted. Maybe I shouldn't use a Jurassic flash drive to transfer files, or wait until last minute to upload them. I didn't yet get a chance to scan my drawing again, so I'll scan it tonight and share it and the poem tomorrow. I'm really great at this, aren't I? Anyway, for today, how about an autumnal baking doodle from a couple years ago? It stars angel Rosie. Anyone remember this one?

Tip of the Day

Today's Pet Diabetes Awareness Month tip is to make sure you understand the factors that can affect blood glucose, especially if your furbaby has diabetes. For example, as you certainly know, food intake largely affects blood glucose levels. If your furbaby has a decreased appetite and is not eating, administering insulin can potentially lead to hypoglycemia. This is because an animal gets glucose from their food. If your furbaby is not eating and is therefore not taking in food as a source of glucose, then administering insulin, which lowers blood glucose, can lead to even lower levels of glucose. So, be sure to discuss all such factors with your veterinarian, and be sure to hold off on administering insulin if your furbaby is not eating so that hypoglycemia does not result. At the same time, also be aware of other factors that could potentially affect a diabetic cat or dog's blood glucose levels, such as vomiting and diarrhea, or even dental or other issues. Again, discuss any such concerns with your veterinarian as needed.

Sorry about the internet troubles, glad they are working on it. Eddy is so cute. I can't wait to get the tree up to see if my 3 ferals will climb it after we go to bed. If they do, I will give them their own and hope they choose that over the decorated one. :) Great fill-in answers. I know what you mean about a lot on your mind, I feel like there is a ping pong ball in mine. Very cute drawing and excellent tips. Have a nice weekend. XO

The problem with speaking cat in this house is that i'd have even more creatures talking at me, and i already get my ear talked off by the humans here!

Love those blurry Eddy and Tree pics.

Those are all great answers!

More humans should want to speak cat. It would be a better world. Then we could run for president.
Eddy loves her Christmas tree but does it feel special at Christmas time?
