Mancat Monday: Enough is Enough

Sometimes, my boy Evan loves to pose for the camera just as much as his model sister Thimble. He most often demonstrates his model skills in his favorite photo shoot locale, which of course is the front door.

But photo shoots are only fun for so long. Soon enough, Evan starts to lose interest. After all, he has other duties he must attend to. You know, like staring at the ceiling.

If his silly human of a mother doesn't get the hint, he simply gives her the cold shoulder. There's nothing like a little blatant disregard to get the point across.

"Seriously, Mom. Enough is enough."

That's okay, Evan. A boy's gotta do what a boy's gotta do.

We hope everybuddy has a wonderful Monday to kick off the week!

Our Tip of the Day:
Did you know that, in many if not most cases, by the time a cat starts showing physical symptoms of any particular organ failure, 70% of that organ has already lost its function? After all, it is often said that cats are great at hiding disease, and this is a very true statement. For this reason, especially as your kitty ages, it is important to have bloodwork done to screen for diseases, even if your furbaby is acting perfectly normal. Blood values will often begin giving indication of disease and organ failure long before physical symptoms arise. Vets will often recommend annual bloodwork starting at roughly the age of 7 years in cats, and for the reason given above, this is never a bad idea.

Evan, we know what you mean. Every time the mom points that flashy box thing at us, we always find something else more interesting to look at. :)

Evan is the cutest little door man :) Great tip, cats are very good at hiding diseases. I am glad there is the new Idexx test to detect kidney disease early.

Evan, whether you are looking at the camera or not, you are one handsome orange boy! When Fiona was diagnosed with CKD, we learned that a cat can seem purrfectly normal and healthy with just 25 purrcent of kidney function. We hd no idea anything was wrong until she'd lost weight. We know exactly how you feel, Evan. A ManCat can only pose for so long before, sigh, other more important things call to us.

Great tip! Cats can seem to do well even as they lose so much kidney function. Knowing early can help them live longer, better-quality lives.
