Here is the photo prompt that Angel Sammy and Teddy shared last week, for us to get poetic with this week:
For whatever reason, the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this photo was the famous Poe line, "Once upon a midnight dreary..." At the same time, I really wanted to write a festive poem. So, I more or less tried to mash those two concepts together, and this weird little poem is what I ended up with:
Midnight Dreary
Once upon a midnight dreary,
A bearded man fell down my chimney.
I wondered, was he playing games?
And how did he elude the flames?
And how did he elude the flames?
There he stood in the middle of the room.
He must be lost, I presumed.
He wore a great big suit of white and red,
And he sure did look mighty well-fed.
In his hand he held a giant sack,
Surely big enough to break his back.
From it he began to pull all sorts of things,
Like teddy bears and choochoo trains.
He placed these things upon the floor,
Looking over his shoulder, from door to door.
Was he a criminal, this strange old man?
After all, he had just trespassed into my domain.
But then back to the fireplace he did tiptoe,
All while letting out a quiet, “Ho ho ho!”
And then upon that midnight dreary,
The bearded man climbed back up the chimney.
Just as with the last round of A to Z poetry, I will continue to create little doodles to go with my poems. This week, I scribbled this up:
Of course, as you can see, at least one furbaby will still always star in these doodles.
Now we're moving on to the Thimble part of this Thursday. Thimble was concerned when she heard the poem we're sharing today, and when she saw that doodle.
Thimble wants to ask you friends what you think. Does Santa Paws really break into homes? Thimble thinks that's awfully bold of him.
Despite her dislike for the idea, Thimble is grateful for this festive season, and that we will soon be opening the box we received from our wonderful Secret Santa Paws! Thimble is entering this excitement of hers into Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.
We are all thankful for this beautiful time of year, filled with family, friends, and all sorts of lovely festivities.
Wishing you a terrific Thursday!

Our Tip of the Day:
We previously mentioned being cautious when using lights on your Christmas tree, due to the various hazards they pose, such as electrocution or a kitty or pup getting tangled. That being said, also be sure to keep this same concept in mind when putting up lights, or other decorations, outdoors. After all, outdoor animals, such as squirrels, birds, or stray or feral cats, can also potentially be put at risk by Christmas decorations. Try to prevent dangerous conditions by taking precautions, such as never leaving any parts or pieces of decorations loose, as both indoor and outdoor babies could get tangled up or ingest something dangerous. When it comes to cords, whether indoor or outdoor, try to find a way to safely secure them, such as by taping them to a wall or the ground. You certainly don't have to forego decorations and all things festive, but do keep in mind the safety of both indoor and outdoor critters.

Oh my goodness you did a MAGNIFICENT job with Angel Sammy's photo poem challenge! We love the story, the idea, and the tie in with a scary night and Santa STILL making his epic journey down every chimney in the land in spite of bad weather. Love the doodle too! Thank you for pawticipating in the challenge - we think it's gonna be a ton of fun reading all the poems....and we're hoping the photos inspire some of our friends who haven't tried poetry to give it a whirl!
Hugs, Teddy
That really was a terrific poem! All will be okay sweet Thimble and you will be thankful for what Santa brings! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I love the poem. Very well done.
No Santa just comes into your house to leave wonderful things. That's okay.
Have a purrfect Thankful Thursday. My best to your mom. ♥
Excellent poem, you are so creative. I like the drawing too. And Thimble, Santa does trespass, but we can let it slide being that he brings gifts :) Great tip too,my sister had a kitten years ago that bit a cord and had burns on his little mouth.
That is a great poem, and a lovely drawing to illustrate it.
Your poem is fabulous! I think this challenge seems even more challenging (HA!) than the last! Don't worry Thimble...Santa won't do anything he's not supposed to!
That poem deserves first place! It was great! Anyone who wants to break into our house and bring lots of presents is more than welcome! We'll even leave out a glass of milk and some cookies. MOL!
