Thoroughly Poetic Thankful Thimble Thursday

Who's ready for Thursday? We sure are! As always, we'll kick off the day with Angel Sammy and Teddy's Thoroughly Poetic Thursday challenge.

We always look forward to seeing what photo our hosts have to share as our prompt for the week. This time around, it's this one!

This photo is so fun! That being said, I also must admit that I really struggled with it. I had a great deal of trouble finding my footing for a poem to match this little guy and his camera. I may or may not be my own worst critic, but either way, I am not really a fan of my end result for this one. Nevertheless, here is my best attempt!

A Thousand Words

Hello, my name is Fred.
There are many things to be said.
For this I need not use my voice, though.
My tales are far better in the form of a show.
So please, do come into my studio

Do you see those photos hanging on the wall?
Please, take a moment to admire them all.
These images tell the story of my life.
Snapping some of them required a bit of strife.
But I digress.
Now, let us progress.

First we travel to this photo here.
This one I hold really quite dear.
This picture speaks a thousand words about my jungle home,
From which I was hesitant to roam.
But many lands I wished to visit,
For that is the way of monkey business.

So I grabbed my camera and moved my journey forward.
I wished to reach every corner of the world.
A thousand words I would snap,
In every region on the map.
But now my discourse is becoming boring.
Do let us now begin the exploring.

And so now you stand in the land Down Under,
Where sharks and arachnids may tear you asunder.
But other traits of this land are ever so redeeming,
For with beauty and sunshine it is beaming.

Ah, yes, now you find yourself in the arctic.
You stand on ice that covers the land like a carpet.
If you look close you'll see that narwhal over there yonder.
And those seals across the way are an equal wonder.

Look, now, welcome to the River Styx!
Now you're meeting the infamous Hades, and even some nymphs.
Oh, and here comes Cerberus for a frolic by the shore.
With him around, nothing is ever a bore.

You blinked and now you're a world over.
Here you stand at the Cliffs of Dover.
It is a beautifully bright and shining day,
So peer across the way and see Cap Gris-Nez.

Oh, and now before you stands Lady Liberty,
Who from her island extends to you greeting.
She towers over you at tall heights,
And she lifts you up to see great sights.

With a hop and a skip, you're now in the land of Érinn,
Where you admire the castle of the Loughmore baron.
You enjoy grass vibrant green and skies stark blue,
All while taking in the aroma of the local brew.

On these adventures you go and go,
Here inside my studio.
My monkey business has taken me near and far,
And I hope you have found nothing too bizarre.

Feel free to travel on and on through my life events,
For the whole wide world I did indeed circumvent.
I am Fred, who visits places of which many have only heard,
Who captures the world in photos worth a thousand words.

It's now, of course, Thimble's time to shine on this Thursday.

Do you see that shine? In between rain and snow showers, we occasionally have some lovely sun. And Thimble loves it!

Thimble is most certainly entering her gratitude for sun puddles into Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

All of us here are thankful when the sun comes out to play. We are also thankful for all of our daily blessings, which include the friends we have in all of you.

Happy Thursday, friends!

Our Tip of the Day:
I'm sure I don't need to tell you all, but as part of our tips for National Pet Poison Awareness Month, we're here to remind you that many human medications are indeed toxic to our furbabies. One of the most common pet poison emergency culprits is ibuprofen. It can be very dangerous and even fatal if ingested by your kitty or pup, and its side effects can include gastrointestinal distress or even kidney failure. Ibuprofen is of course not the only human medication that can have dire consequences for our cats and dogs, though. Decongestants such as excess pseudoephedrine can also be toxic, as well as medications for treating blood pressure and ADD/ADHD, just to name a couple. Needless to say, keep any and all human medications hidden away in a secure cabinet, drawer, or other such confines.

It is also worth noting that certain topical creams and ointments that we humans use can also be dangerous for cats and dogs. These such medications can be sneaky as well, since you might apply a potentially toxic cream to your skin, then you might forget about it, and then your furbaby might lick your skin or even clothing that touched the topical medication. This, in turn, can possibly result in toxicity. As a couple of examples, creams for pain management or hormone treatment can easily contain ingredients that could lead to life-threatening side effects for your kitty or pup. So, not only should you safely store medications, but you must also be diligent about how you might be exposing your furbaby to toxic ingredients.

What a fun poem about Fred! Thimble...enjoy that sunshine while you got it. We have a little bit today too and we're going to take full advantage of it.

I love the poem! You are so creative. The drawing is great too. Thimble looks very happy in the sun. Excellent tips too. I am super cautious with meds, whenever the dermatologist has wanted to give me a cream, I refuse because I am afraid it will get into the cats if they are near me.

Terrific poem, and doddle! Thimble's tabby stripes and wonderful whiskers really shine in the sun. We are thankful that you share with us!

Thimble, the photo of you with your face to the sun is amazing. The poem is more of an epic than a poem. You could probably turn it into a successful short story. That was such a cute and funny photo but definitely hard to get a handle on. You did an amazing job. Fred the photographer certainly had a lot of adventures to show in his photos. One has to wonder what a monkey truly WOULD consider "photo worthy" if he had a camera in hand....oh the silly things he would see watching humans watching him! LOL Well done on the poem - it was a toughie but fun too! Next week's photo is downright frightening!

Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

I think it's fantastic! Quite challenging to write about an animal other than a cat or dog, isn't it?
