We shared this photo a couple weeks ago. That's one of our Christmas trees on the night it was assembled. It's all fluffed up, aglow, and even has the kitties' hot cocoa cafe scratcher house set up in front of it. Fast forward a couple weeks, though, and you get shots like this:
That there tree is being climbed by kittens, in case you couldn't tell. Said kittens, as well as Eddy, are the reasons I get to rebuild our Christmas trees on a daily basis. Also, the entire upper half of this tree's lights went out, on something like day two (but they've now been fixed!). That wasn't the kitties' fault, though, but instead was due to obligatory Christmas decor failure. Oh, and the hot cocoa cafe scratcher is no longer in one piece. It's not even in two or three pieces. It's in something like a dozen pieces, and I will be attempting to rebuild it none other than tonight. Wish me luck.
That all being said, a few people have asked me if our Christmas trees are still standing. The answer is, miraculously, yes. My house is now inhabited by four Christmas tree climbing felines (only two of the six kitties in the house don't climb the Christmas trees), and yet not a single tree has ever hit the floor in a horizontal manner. This fact astonishes me on a daily basis, especially given the horrors I witness every single day (you know, like in the photos above). The Christmas trees at my house get some serious kudos for holding their own as well as they do.
As a side note, all Christmas trees at my house are snugly tucked or tethered somewhere sturdy, at least as best as possible. They are also free of ornaments, and lights are unplugged when no human is present to chaperone the situation.
Merry wishes to all!

Our Tip of the Day:
In all of this planning, of course also don't forget the basic necessities. Bring plenty of your furbaby's food, especially if they are on a prescription or other special diet. Bring bowls and even water as needed. If your furbaby is on medication, bring ample amounts of it, especially in the event of any unexpected delays. Don't forget any potentially necessary items, such as cages, leashes, harnesses, seat belts, blankets, toys, and even cleaning supplies. Though it may not be a pleasant thought, also be sure to make plans and preparations for any emergencies that might arise. For example, take your furbaby's medical records with you, your veterinarian's information, as well as contact and other information on veterinary hospitals located in your travel destination. It never hurts to be over-prepared, so as space allows, plan and pack anything and everything you might need for the comfort and safety of your furbaby during your travels.

The same thing would have happened here if we had had a bit Christmas tree. Pumpkin is the only one that knocks the ornaments off. Sounds like your tree has been quite a chore. But have a good day.
OMC! We can't believe the tree is still standing after being "attacked" like that.
I bet the kitties just love climbing those trees. Neither Sammy nor Teddy were ever inclined to do it thankfully. Good for you for "going with the flow" !
Hugs, Pam
I think I would sit there and watch the shenanigans! Good luck with the Hot Cocoa Cafe Scratcher; my guess is that it's a goner! Play taps...
MOL ! How did you manage that the tree is still standing up ? Purrs
I love your life sized kitty ornaments :) Glad they are enjoying the holidays. I like the Santa cap on top. I am really lucky my kitties are not climbers. That is a cute drawing. Excellent tips too.
The kitties are loving the tree! Eric and Flynn were both tree climbers, but Flynn was much more careful about it than Eric.
Whoa! Autumn once knocked the peeps Christmas tree to the ground. MOL!.
That is absolutely hysterical! I can't believe Mudpie has never tried to climb my tree...
There must be magic in your house that the trees don't fall over!!!
