Caturday Art: Remembering My Angel

I've thought long and hard about what to write for this post, and how to write it. What I've decided is to make it short and sweet, because words can only say so much. Sometimes it's what you feel and not what you say that really matters.

Today marks one year since I had to say goodbye to my dear, sweet, beautiful Rosie. I never knew a better friend than my Rosie. She was my loyal companion and my confidant, and she still is to this day. She was my inspiration, my muse, a role she will always play. Rosie was my angel, even while on this earth, and she will always be my angel.

I love you, Rosie, always and forever.

Thank you, Athena, for hosting the lovely Caturday Art blog hop each week.

Our Tip of the Day:
In honor of my Rosie, today's tip will be a reminder to always remember the good times. I don't think I have to tell any of you how hard losing a furbaby is. Despite the pain of loss, though, even after they are gone, please always try to be grateful for the time and love you did get to share with your furbaby. Your are your furbaby's life, and their world revolves around you. And so, after they cross the Rainbow Bridge, I don't think your furbaby would want you to feel pain and suffering at the thought of them. So, although grief is perfectly normal and understandable, please strive to keep alive all of the wonderful, fond memories your angel furbabies gifted you during your time together.

Friday Photo Fails

I try to be a fair mom and make sure that all of my furbabies get at least one post focusing on them each week. But, I'll be the first to admit that sometimes my active Eddy makes this very difficult, if not downright impossible. Some weeks, getting a still shot of tireless Eddy is more like getting a sighting of the Loch Ness monster itself.

This week, Eddy was determined to make it especially hard on me. Don't ask me why, but the little rascal would actually pose for me this time around, but then just about every single shot turned out a little something like this:

Welly, happy Friday, furiends!

Our Tip of the Day:
Never forgot the importance and benefits of positive reinforcement. If you dog or cat does something you want to enforce or encourage, such as responds positively to a command, be sure to immediately reward them. The reward can be in a number of forms, such as a treat, a toy, verbal praise, or affection. When your furaby learns that doing the favorable deed earns them a reward, they will feel encouraged to continue doing it.

Thimble Thursday: The Angelic Glow

I wanted to experiment with lighting the other day, and Thimble was more than willing to be my model. I hoped to to use the natural daylight to produce a sort of glowing effect, and Thimble was quite happy with her angelic results. So, she wanted to show them off here.

So, does Thimble have the face of an angel?

Well wishes to all of our furiends on this lovely Thursday!

Our Tip of the Day:
As I'm sure all of you pet parents already know, it is crucial that you never leave your furbabies in a car on hot days. This even goes for when the car is in the shade on a hot, stifling day, as the air can still become far too overheated in a confined place such as a car. In the thick of summer, even cracking the windows is often not enough to remove enough heat from the car to make it safe. So, especially on hot summer days, please do not leave your furbaby in a car, or in any other confined place with the potential of overheating.

Wordless Wednesday: The Art of Chewing a Bone

***
Our Tip of the Day:
You know your furbaby better than anyone, so when choosing a toy for them, always be sure to take into account their personal preferences and behaviors. If your furbaby likes to bat things around the floor, then get them a small, lightweight toy that allows for this, rather than a large, stationary toy. On the other hand, if your furbaby likes to chew or swallow small items, then be sure to get toys that are large enough that this will not turn into a potential problem, and also be aware of toys that look large but that have small pieces attached. If your furbaby likes to chew, then a chew toy is of course a great idea. Then again, keep in mind the kind of chewer your furbaby is - if they're a fierce chewer, be sure to get them a bone or toy that is specifically labeled for powerful chewers, so that they are less likely to break pieces off and choke. There's a toy out there for every kind of furbaby, it's just a matter of finding it!

Toesies Tuesday Tutorial

On this Toesies Tuesday, Evan wanted to give everybuddy a tutorial on toesies hygiene. He wanted to make sure that all of our furiends out there remember to bathe their furry legs...

...all the way down to their furry little toesies.

And don't forget between the toesies!

Thimble was not all that impressed with Evan's skills. Especially since they interrupted her sunny snoozing.

So, Evan took matters into his own hands paws...

...and bathed Thimble's toesies for her. What a good big brother!

Wishing all of our furiends a lovely Tuesday!

Our Tip of the Day:
If your furbaby goes outside, be cognizant of the temperature of the ground and how it might affect their paws. In hot weather, you can test to see if asphalt or concrete is too hot for your furbaby's bare paws by placing your hand against it. You can test the asphalt or concrete's temperature by pressing the back of your hand to it for a few seconds (if it's hot, don't let it burn you!). If the ground's temperature is uncomfortable for you, it would likely be uncomfortable for your furbaby's bare paws. On such hot days, it might be best for you and your furbaby to stick to short walks away from hot surfaces, and perhaps only during cooler times of the day, such as dawn or dusk.

Mancat Monday: An Eye for an Eye

As I'm sure you've all noticed by now, this momma loves using her boy Evan as a model. After all, he loves posing for the camera, so photo shoots with him are often a breeze.

That is, unless one of his little sisters has a different idea...

Happy Monday, everybuddy!

Our Tip of the Day:
With summer approaching, I'll continue with some more hot weather tips. Especially if your furbaby is exposed to prolonged or excessive heat, watch out for signs of heat stroke, which include: elevated body temperature, heavy panting, increased heart rate, excessive salivation, vomiting, diarrhea, altered gait, stumbling or falling, confusion or anxiety, whining or unusual vocalization, lethargy, and seizures. If you see any of these signs, get your furbaby to a veterinarian immediately. If possible, while awaiting arrival at the vet's office, you can work to bring down your furbaby's body temperature by wetting him or her with cool water. But, it is crucial that you get an animal with heat stroke to a veterinarian as soon as possible, as heat stroke could potentially lead to permanent and even fatal damage.

Sunday Selfies: Up Close and Personal

First of all, Eddy would like to thank everybuddy for their birthday wishes yesterday! She had a great birthday, with lots of extra snuggles on her mama's lap. Thank you all for visiting her on her birthday!

Now, for today's post...We love Sundays around here. Why? Because we always love trying to come up with fun selfies for the Sunday Selfie blog hop, hosted by our good friends over at The Cat on My Head.

This week, my furbabies wanted to go for some up close and personal selfies. Here were the results:

Wishing all of our furiends a fun Sunday!

Our Tip of the Day:
With the heat of summer approaching, remember to keep your furbabies safe and cool. All animals can be at risk for heat exhaustion or heat stroke if exposed to high temperatures and left without shade or water, but keep in mind that the following animals can be at the highest risk: animals with heart or respiratory issues, animals with short faces or snouts, elderly animals, and overweight animals. Be especially cognizant of the potential for heat exhaustion or stroke if your furbaby falls under one of those or a similar category. Of course, the best solution is to prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke by keeping your furbaby safe and cool as much as possible. Run your air conditioner or use some method of temperature regulation. If out in the heat, be sure that your furbaby has access to shade and plenty of water.
