Fill-Ins and a Bum of a Blooper

Happy Friday to all of our furiends! It's one of the best days of the week, in large part because it's time for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by the clever 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader.

Our hosts gave us some great fill-ins this week:

1. My nickname is _________.
2. The first thing I ever won was _________.
3. I have never been to _________.
4. Next year _________.

I scrambled my brain like eggs trying to live up to these. I hope the results are palatable enough.

1. My nickname is Lluugghh.
(This one is going to take some special explaining. For those who don't know, my name is Lorianne. That's just the generic names Lori and Anne smashed together into one. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, let's just say that throughout school, roughly 99% of new teachers, and anyone else who read my name for the first time ever, butchered it. This still happens to this day. Most often they guess something along the lines of Lorraine, which I understand, given how close it looks to that. But I have heard and seen plenty of other random and weird guesses, like LaRyan. Back to the nickname, though...It came about a few years back when, after an especially memorable butchering of my name by a new acquaintance, my sister told me that I should just simplify things and start introducing myself by simply drawing out the sound of the letter L. I asked her how she'd spell that, and for whatever reason she came up with Lluugghh. And it stuck.)
2. The first thing I ever won was a porcelain doll named Punkin.
(I was maybe four years old or so, and though the details are fuzzy, I remember there being a raffle at a local kids' event for a doll and winning. She was made of porcelain, which is just great for a child of four, and came with a tag declaring her name to be Punkin. Truth be told, the doll kind of freaked me out. There was something about her buggy eyes, or maybe it was that crooked smirk on her face. My mom put her up on a shelf for me, and I remember feeling hardly bothered at all when angel Rosie's brother Sammy broke off some of her porcelain fingers. When I moved out of my parents' house, I told my mom to keep the doll.)
3. I have never been to Disney Land or Disney World.
(When people ask me if I've been to Disney Land and/or Disney World and I say no, they often look at me with this aghast look on their face, like I've just sprouted wings or a unicorn's horn. Honestly, though, I've never had any inclination to go to either of those famed theme parks, not even as a kid. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Disney, but I'm not a fan of thrill rides, I'm kind of creeped out by people dressed up in giant plushie outfits, and I'm just as happy watching The Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast from the comfort of my couch, surrounded by furbabies, of course.)
4. Next year is a blank canvas.
(I went back and forth between a number of plans, hopes, and wishes I have for next year. Unable to settle on one, I figured this was good enough.)

Now, on to the next bit of business. It's not only the day when you get your weekly fix of Eddy, but it's also time for the Pet Blogger Bloopers Round-Up, hosted by The Lazy Pit Bull.

This is quite opportune, as active Eddy is arguably the best source of bloopers in our home. This time around, she has a bum of a blooper to share with you.

How's that for "say cheese"?

We hope everybuddy has a wonderful day!

Our Tip of the Day:
Did you know that cats can suffer from separation anxiety, just like dogs and humans? Some kitties will experience anxiety when their favorite human is away. Sometimes, this is the reason why your kitty may urinate or even defecate on your clothes or other possessions while you're away. Other signs of separation anxiety include excessive meowing or yowling, pacing or restlessness, obsessive grooming, gorging on food, or hardly eating at all. Although every animal will respond differently, you can try certain techniques to help your kitty feel at ease while you're away. For example, offering distractions, such as in the form of interactive toys, automatic treat dispensers, perhaps leaving a TV on, or even a radio. Especially if your kitty tends to get him or herself in trouble while you're away, you can also try creating a safe room for them to stay in while you're away, a place they can consider their "safe haven" or "happy place" while you're away. Another option to try are Feliway diffusers, to help calm the anxious kitty. Of course, in some cases, more extreme behavioral modification may be required, which can be discussed with a vet or behaviorist. In some more severe cases, anti-anxiety medications may be required. Cats respond to drugs such as Prozac similarly to humans, and sometimes a kitty just needs a bout of an anti-anxiety medication to get their chemistry and anxiety back in check. Again, consult your veterinarian!

Great photo of Eddy's cute little butt :) Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I always enjoy your answers. I like the story of your nickname :)Although I am sure it is annoying when people say your name wrong. I have only been to Disney once and trust me, you are not missing anything. I am not a fan of rides either- or crowds and hot temperatures. I love your answer to #4, it really is a blank slate.
Good tip too, my niece's cat, Nixon used to get separation anxiety. She adopted him in college despite not being allowed to have pets in the dorm. She couldn't keep him a secret because he made so much noise when she was gone to class so he ended up living with us. That was 10 years ago, he has another cat and a dog to keep him company now so he is much better.

Great answers - particularly #4, since I don't think any of us can really predict the future.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I understand your frustration with people mispronouncing your name. We get that all the time. McClendon seems pretty self-explanatory to me, but we get all sorts of weird pronunciations of it. Being a Suzanne, I would have picked up on your Lorianne right from the start. Some folks just overly complicate things. :)

I've never been to Disney World or Land either. I love theme parks like Six Flags and Carowinds and Ghost Town, but I can't say that I've ever really had the urge to go to Disney World or Land.

I'm sorry the prize doll freaked you out. I can completely understand that, though. We've had a few here that freaked me out, too. One of the girls left a doll in the floor once when they were little and I didn't see it. I stepped on it and heard something say, "Get off my finger!" Yea, okay, I left the room! This was a talking doll, but that phrase was not part of its programming. Talk about creepy. haha

Have a blessed weekend!

I can sympathize with name problems. Suzanne named our baby girl Maeghan. She gets all sorts of problems with that name. When I had to check her into the emergency room one time, I was told that that was not the right way to spell her name. Our daughter has a friend whose name is La-a. It is pronounced La Dash A.

Foi bom conhece-la melhor, deve ser muito desagradável quando erram a pronúncia do nome.

We totally unnerstand life gettin' in da way, as we're so far behind we'll never truly get caught up. But we do think we're furinally on a slow down and take a breath moment. MOL

Even TW figured your name out after realizing it wasn't Lorraine. MOL! Disneyland is one of the few places TW HAS been too. She was 20 and all she remembers is the It's a Small World ride. It was the only one she'd go on. Did you link to the Blooper's blog hop?

We haven't been to any Disney theme parks and it's highly unlikely that we'll ever go. I'm with your mom. The odd people dressed up as one thing or another in Times Square, New York creep my dad out.

My mum was given a porcelain doll too. Her dad died when she was very young and her mum couldn't afford to buy toys for Christmas. On Christmas Eve a big box was delivered with second hand toys and also Christmas goodies. The doll had broken fingers and a hole by her mouth. It scared my mum because she thought the doll was going to eat her in the night. Her mum didn't know how the presents were donated to them but it made a much better Christmas.
My mum says she could see your correct name right away.

What a cute bum! I've never been to Disney either. And my childhood nickname was Peasoup...it was given to me by my uncle. When I was a little girl my mom made peasoup one night and I asked if she was cooking me...and I was serious!

I totally feel you on the whole name thing. My parents chose a hideous name for me most people mispronounce it. Just my luck, my last name is just as bad. Both my first and last name are always misspelled too. I now go by a nickname and while it's easier to say, they cannot seem to spell it correctly - even when I spell it out for them. This annoys me WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than it should, especially when I know I should expect it. Hence, one of many reasons I don't use my real name on my blog. I always found it hilarious when I'd go do a job interview and they'd stress the importance of attention to detail when working there. Then when they'd send the letter to say I didn't get the job, my name would be misspelled 100% of the time. Apparently attention to detail would be important for me if I worked there, but it's not so important for them.

I went to Disneyland once as a teen in high school. It wasn't all it was cracked up to be, but I think that was mostly due to the people I was there with. I was on a dance team and we went as a group when we had a performance in CA. Had I gone with other people and gotten to spend more than a few hours there, it might have been more enjoyable. They do have some fun shops there, they're really overpriced though.

Your name seems easy enough. Dolls can be creepy. I have never been to Disney either and really don't mind a bit. Hard to tell what next year will bring...can only hope for good.

The story behind your nickname cracked me up - and it's amazing how people are able to butcher someone's name, even if they're simple. You'd think "Stacy" would be an easy one *not* to butcher, but not so much. It's been turned into Stephanie, Tracy and even Daisy...heh!! So your Lluugghh is simply awesome! ;)
