Friendly Fill-Ins and Photo Fails

Who's ready for the Friendly Fill-Ins? We are! In case you missed the fill-ins yesterday, you can find them below. Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two, and I came up with the second two.

1. I deserve a gold star for _________ today.

2. Right now, I am loving _________.

3. The best advice I've ever been given is _________.

4. If I had to choose a new first name, it would be _________.

As always, I took my turn to fill these in, too.

1. I deserve a gold star for successfully dodging five piles of cat puke in a dark hallway today.
(Sometimes, I'll walk through the dark hallway at my house and my foot will find one or two—or three or four—piles of cat puke. This morning, I walked through the dark hallway, only to soon after realize that I had somehow managed to miss five piles of cat puke. I felt so accomplished. Then that sense of accomplishment sort of dimmed as I got on my hands and knees to clean it all up.)

2. Right now, I am loving the show Nailed It! on Netflix.
(This is a comedic reality baking show. Each episode, three amateur bakers are brought on to attempt to recreate complicated baked goods. The results are hilarious epic failures. Have you ever seen those memes where people try to recreate a beautiful baked good or craft item that they see on Pinterest, only to fail miserably? In those memes, the failed attempts are often humorously accompanied by the words, "Nailed it!" That's where the idea for this show came about. I watch this show if I need a good laugh.)

3. The best advice I've ever been given is, "Do something because you enjoy it, not just because you're good at it."
(This probably sounds kind of random and strange, but this advice has stuck with me ever since my dad offered it to me years ago, as I was preparing for college and trying to settle on a career path. My dad admitted to me that he made the mistake of pursuing an education and career in something that he was good at, but that isn't really one of his passions in life. Back then, I thought I properly took his advice. After college and entering the job force, though, I realized that some of my true passions didn't make it into my initial plans for my future. I have plans to change that now, though, and so I'm again taking my dad's advice and reworking my goals for the future.)

4. If I had to choose a new first name, it would be Autumn.
(Honestly, my answer to this could change on a whim. I love names, and I always have. Anytime I meet anyone, and certainly anytime I meet a furbaby, I want to know their name. Anyway, to explain my answer, autumn is my favorite season, and I've simply always thought it was a pretty name.)

Are you ready for your Eddy fix? Luckily, today also happens to be the day of the Pet Photo Fails, a blooper bog hop hosted by The Cuddlywumps Cat Chronicles.

And so, here's Eddy doing what she does best—creating bloopers!

Have a fun and fantastic Friday, friends!

Our Doodle of the Day:

I guess I'm in the mood to scribble up some more bookish doodles. Hopefully you all don't get tired of me drawing books, because that seems to be happening a lot lately. I also seem to have a thing for toadstools, but I'll try not to include those in every single upcoming bookish doodle.

Our Tip of the Day:

As we mentioned yesterday, we're doing a series of tips dedicated to none other than the litter box. Yesterday, we talked about choosing a type of litter box. Today, we're going to talk about the number of litter boxes you might need.

We're going to begin this discussion with a bit of an equation:

(# of cats) + 1 = (# of litter boxes)

That up there is the general rule for how many litter boxes a home should have, for the comfort of the kitties living there. Since we're a broken record, we'll say it again: the number of litter boxes should equal the number of cats, plus one. This general rule helps ensure that all of the cats in a home have plenty of options, something that is especially important in a multicat home. Finding a clean litter box, and not being bullied out of it, is more easily done when there is a sufficient number of boxes. As for single cat homes, the equation above still typically applies. Why? One reasons is that some cats don't like to urinate and defecate in the same box. Another reason is that, again, it gives them more options for a clean box, and can thereby reduce potential out-of-box behaviors.

Now that we have that little equation out of the way, we'll also mention that it's possible that not all of the litter boxes in a home should be or will be the same type. For example, do you have one cat who likes covered boxes, and another cat who prefers uncovered boxes? If so, then you should probably have litter boxes of both of those types. This ensures that each cat has a choice that suits their preferences. So, it's not only important to ensure that there are enough litter boxes, but that the boxes suit the needs of all cats present in the home.

Bravo for puke-dodging (is that an Olympic sport??)! My Mom loves your alternative name - Autumn is a pretty name indeed AND my Mom's favorite season too. We don't have Netflix or cable or anything other than "regular old TV" BUT one of my Mom's fave shows is "The Great British Baking Show" which is similar to "Nailed It".....it's wonderful watching people bake things and it's quite an art form unto itself. By the way, we think Eddy's bloopers are adorable.......!

Hugs, Teddy and Mom too

Your number one is the reason i never go barefoot. Even if i’m only wearing my sandals, i have shoes on.

Your father’s advice is excellent, i wish i’d learned that a long time ago.

Those are some great answers to the Fill-ins. We really like the answer to number three. That is such a good idea. We like the name Autumn. too. You all have a great day.

Great fill-ins and you deserve 5 gold stars, it is hard to avoid cat vomit in the dark. And another 5 for cleaning it up. :) I like that name too and it is definitely my favorite season. Your Dad is a wise man, that is excellent advice that I wish I had been given because my Education/Psychology degree is useless.Cute photo fails, Eddy never disappoints. Cute drawing, I never tire of books in your drawings. Excellent tips too, I know the formula, but 14 is a lot of boxes to clean. We have 10 which is probably why Penny chooses cardboard sometimes. Have a nice weekend! XO

I so know where you're coming from with #1. In fact, I had to do that this morning. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! I love your advice. In fact, I'm trying to do that although it's not easy. Love the pics. Have a great weekend!

Gramma had a cat named Autumn. After adopting her, she wanted to change her name so badly but TW wouldn't let her so she liked the name for the little calico. Eddy is the photo fails champ except that those don't look that much like fails. I have two litter boxes but I haven't used one of them is almost a year.

Cute doodle...I want it as a bookmark! And I promise to remove it, when the book goes back to the library. Nice job on avoiding the upchuck; but who is making such output? Yikes! I will always have more litter boxes than needed; made the error of having too few once, and won't do it again, oh no. I love names too; I have a collection of names written in my cat book, should we ever need to name another kitty. Funny, how we didn't use any of those names with Chili Bruce and Manny; they kind of named themselves!

Love the fill-ins! Especially the doing what you love...wish I was, but alas I am doing what I am good at as doing what I love just about bankrupted me!
And Autumn is a great name...I think, if I could have a whole new first name it would be Jesse (after my great grandmother).
Love Barb

Sounds like you deserve several gold stars!

Avoiding all those piles definitely deserves a gold star! And a pint of ice cream, because, why not? That photo fail is pretty good. We love your book doodles and thanks for the litter box tip! No one likes to get bullied out a box. Have extra boxes always!

Missing 5 puke piles must be some kind of record. Autumn is a pretty name, and also my favorite season. Awesome bloopers, Eddy! Thanks for playing along with Pet Photo Fails! :)

To #1...EWWWWWWW

Nailed It sounds like a funny show!

I think your dad's advice is great advice. What could be better than a life of what you enjoy AND are good at?

I don't remember ever knowing anyone named Autumn, but there was a little girl in our neighborhood when the kids were little named Summer.

What a big yawn you have, Eddy!

I think your toadstools are beautiful. :)

Have a blessed weekend!

MOL! We watch our humans do the "cat puke dance" often. It's especially entertaining when it's the middle of the night and very dark!

Your dad's advice works well. It would seem that if we were doing something we love, the talent will come to be. Have a blessed week.
