Tuesday Stew: Our Natural PetⓇ Review

Today, pup Astrid has a review to share thanks to a special offer by Chewy.com. The brand up for review is Only Natural PetⓇ, and here is a bit of information we received on them:

"Only Natural PetⓇ is an outstanding brand who is supported by a board of dedicated veterinarians who put their 'greenest paw forward' when researching and creating wholesome products just for your fur babies. Their main goal is to help pets live longer and healthier lives by the only way they know how: creating truly natural products. They've created anything from supplements to food."

After having a look through the products formulated by Only Natural PetⓇ, which include goods for both cats and dogs, we went ahead and decided to let Astrid take this one. Somehow, despite living with six cats, she is nearly the pickiest furbaby in the house. So, we're always on the lookout for new, and of course healthy, products she might actually enjoy.

We perused the wide variety of products offered by Only Natural PetⓇ and decided on their Wholesome Homemade Red Meat Recipe stew dog food.

This is a dehydrated food that simply requires the addition of water, and allowing it to soak for at least 10 minutes. Then it's a stew ready for a pup to enjoy.

This particular recipe includes lamb, sweet potato, peas, and even superfoods like turmeric and cranberries. It's made in the USA, and contains no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, by-products, or fillers. That all sounds wonderful to this mom of Astrid, and so I was eager to see if she'd eat it.

Pup Astrid was clearly intrigued by my preparations of this food.

The question, though, is did she like it? The basic answer is yes.

Astrid did not act as enthusiastic about Only Natural PetⓇ stew dog food as some of her most favorite foods, but the fact that she ate most of it is good news. There are plenty of canned dog foods out there that she refuses to touch, so the fact that she nearly cleaned out her bowl was certainly a plus.

Oh, and what pup Astrid didn't finish, a certain someone else took care of.

If you can't tell in that award-winning shot, that's tiny kitten Tonks helping herself to this stew of a dog food. There is nothing tiny Tonks won't eat. And I mean nothing. This kitten will even eat a shoe. I know this because she's already tried. But, I digress.

Astrid's review doesn't quite end there. When I had her try the stew for the first time, which is what you saw above, I only had it soaking in water for 10 minutes, as I read on the instructions. However, I recently found some further recommendations on the food's box, which indicate that you can soak the food in water overnight in the fridge, which will help it set up even more. Curious if Astrid would like it better this way, since she does love her paté food, I gave it a shot.

Guess what? Astrid seemed pretty pleased with the outcome! I didn't get a photo of her eating this extra soaked version, but she enjoyed it, and I will continue to prepare it for her that way. So, especially if it's soaked overnight, Astrid gives Only Natural PetⓇ Wholesome Homemade Red Meat Recipe stew dog food four paw up.

(Disclaimer: We received Only Natural PetⓇ Wholesome Homemade Red Meat Recipe stew dog food in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are our own. We only review products that we believe will be of interest to our readers, and we never recommend a product that we do not believe in.)

Happy Tuesday, friends!

Our Doodle of the Day:

We have a couple more patriotic doodles to share, in preparation for the art fair in which I'll be participating to benefit the American Legion. Today, we have a patriotic pup to share.

As we mentioned a couple days ago, the upcoming art fair has the theme of Christmas in July. In a couple of days, we'll start sharing some of our summertime Christmas doodles to match this theme. We're hoping that will help you feel cool on these hot summer days.

Our Tip of the Day:

We claimed that yesterday's tip was the last one in our pet parenting hacks series. But guess what? This silly human here found a whole other sheet of notes on pet parenting hacks, and so we have more! Many of these are all sorts of randomness, but sometimes randomness can come in handy. Well, at least we think so.

Today's tip is one a bit more for the dogs, but of course could be used for kitties if the situation applies. What we're talking about today is bell training. It can help to have a way for your dog to tell you they need to go to the bathroom. Since jumping and scratching at the door is not all that ideal, you can hang a bell, or a strand of bells, on the doorknob. Of course, make sure the design of the bell and any attachments are safe for your furbaby, especially if they're a chewer. Once you've selected and placed the bell to be used, training techniques such as positive reinforcement can be used to teach your dog to ring the bell prior to going outside to use to the restroom. This will allow your dog to make the connection that, if they ring the bell on the door, they will be let out to use the restroom. Just as with any training, this may take time, but with patience, practice, and positive reinforcement, everyone involved can get the hang of it.

Great review. Looks like Astrid found it to be delicious. I guess no doggie bags today to take some home, cause Tonks dug right in. Thanks for the share. Everybody has full bellies now. Have a great day.

Nice review. Tonks is too funny, she is like my Trouble, always willing to eat anything :) Cute drawing and excellent tip. My niece's Jack Russell can ring bells to go out.

It must be nice to have one not-at-all-picky eater in the family.

As for the tip, even cats can be trained to ring the bell when they want outdoors. A friend of mine had a cat that loved to be put in her harness and taken for walks. She had a route she wanted to walk, and regulars to greet on the way. She would wake up, have breakfast, use the litter box, then go sit at the door and ring the bell until someone would walk her. Back at home she would get water, insist that they put on a movie on the computer (yes, really, her favorite was anything Star Wars), snooze and watch, then get up, have a snack and a potty break and go back to ringing the bell. This went on all day, she loved her walks and she loved her movies. They miss her terribly, too.
