Friendly Fill-Ins

Happy Friday, friends! Are you ready for the Friendly Fill-Ins? Yes? In case you missed the fill-in statements yesterday, I'll share them again below. Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two, and I came up with the second two.

1. I could not _________ without _________.

2. A simple pleasure I enjoy is _________.

3. If I could change one thing about myself, _________.

4. _________ is hard to find these days.

I filled these in myself, and my answers are below in bold.

1. I could not sleep without kitty cuddles.
(Perhaps I'm lucky in that essentially all the kitties in my life thus far have displayed a heavy preference for cuddling at bedtime. I don't know what I would do if none of my kitties wanted to cuddle in bed. I'm not sure I could sleep in such a case. Perhaps my cuddly kitties are why I've never suffered from insomnia.)

2. A simple pleasure I enjoy is caramel.
(This might seem like a random answer, and it is a random answer, but there is a reason for it. After my intestines decided to turn me lactose intolerant a couple years ago, I've had tons of trouble finding my caramel-loving self any caramel that I can safely consume. That is, until my sister recently found some and gifted it to me for Christmas. I'm now hooked and my love for caramel is alive and well again.)

3. If I could change one thing about myself, I don't think I would.
(Don't get me wrong. I can think of plenty aspects of myself that are far from perfect. But, I'd be afraid that changing even a small part of myself would change the life I currently live, and I don't want to do that. My life certainly isn't perfect, but it's my life and I'm enjoying living it the best I can, just the way it is.)

4. Uplifting news is hard to find these days.
(I can hardly stand to read even the news headlines these days. They're all so saddening. The devastating statistics of the Australian fires, such as the number of innocent animals in the wild who have lost their lives, absolutely breaks my heart. I pray for all those affected.)

Especially when it comes to Eddy, I don't have a whole lot of high-quality photos to share. This girl is either insanely active and running away from the camera, or she's sitting on me so that all I have at my disposal is my phone camera and less than ideal lighting. Today's two photos were taken on two different occasions, but they're both examples of Eddy in terrible lighting and taken with a simple phone camera. They each also co-star the only cat she truly likes, that being Evan. And, lastly, these photos are examples of my answer to the first fill-in above, because these two kitties are my primary bedtime cuddlers.

These two photos are examples of when you know you're not going to get even a single award for your shoddy photo, but you're still glad you snapped it because the memory is priceless. Both of these photos are also indeed examples of my usual nighttime situation, with Eddy snoozing on top of me and Evan snoring at my side. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Flashback Doodle of the Day

For today's flashback, I decided to share another doodle from last year's snowy winter scene series. Today's flashback was one I drew of our housemate Winky, because we haven't shared nearly enough photos or doodles of her lately. This one's for you, Winky.

Tip of the Day

Today's winter tip is one that you often hear in the summer, but that also goes for the winter months, and that is to never leave your pup or kitty alone in the car. Just like the inside of a car can get fatally hot in the summer months, the inside of a car can get far too cold in the winter for a furbaby to remain inside. Should you need to run errands where your furbaby is not allowed, leave them home where it is warm. Another option, should your furbaby for some reason need to be along when you run errands, is to bring someone along who can sit with them in the warm car.

In this same line of thought, if your furbaby is in need of a car ride, prepare the car for this. Should a vet visit be in store in the winter months, for example, warm the car before taking your furbaby outside for a ride. As we all know, a cold car is an uncomfortable place to be. So, try to ensure that your furbaby does not have to feel this discomfort.

Great filling in and great photos too! I love the doodle today with the kitty drinking hot chocolate out of a wonderful "ginger coffee cup" !! I wish Teddy would sleep with us but he prefers his own space. Just one of the things he came to us with with he adopted us (!) but he's just not a cuddler. He's very loving but not a lap kitty. He does love to be on the bed but during the day when it's ALL HIS! Happy Friday to you and the kitties and of course Astrid as well.

Hugs, Pam

You are very wise to realize that any change you make would have consequences, intended and unintended.

Love your kitty cuddles!

Great fill-in answers. I could not sleep without a kitty either. Sammy is usually the lucky one :) I am glad you get to enjoy caramel again. I rarely get them because of the price, but I love Starbucks caramel lattes. Cute shots of Eddy and Evan snuggling. And I love the drawing. Excellent tips too. That is a rule I always follow, I will not leave a pet ( or a kid) in the car for even a minute to run in and get the newspaper or anything. Have a great weekend! XO

Bad news seems to take a bigger chunk out of our hearts, than any feel-good story that is broadcast to us! That's why I like blogging and the blogging community; we stay positive and SHARE!

Be thankful Eddy isn't 25 lbs. Nicky used to sleep on TW's legs and now she has circulation problems. She won't let me cuddle. I wonder why. Don't even get us started on those poor animals in Australia. TW is lactose intolerant but during the summer, if she eats enough ice cream she's found that it doesn't cause problems. Her body builds up a tolerance.

We also enjoy cuddling with Jackie at night so much. She radiates so much calmness and love.
I am glad you found a way to enjoy caramel, it's so good to be able to enjoy these little things.
Have a great weekend!

Those are sweet pics of Eddy and Evan. The mom loves caramel too...she can't get enough of it, though she knows too much of it isn't good for her.

Would you believe Mudpie is the first cat who has ever slept with me all night? And lately she's been leaving halfway through the night and sleeping in the living room, only to return to bed in the morning like she's been there all along. Don't know what I'm doing wrong...MOL
