Caturday Art

Today's doodle is actually this year's birthday card for my mom, the furbabies' beloved Gammy. If you visited us earlier this week, you might know that my mom's birthday was actually on Wednesday. I didn't have her card for this year done yet when I wrote that day's post, though. So, we're sharing it now. This birthday doodle was not only inspired by my mom, but also by just some of her 12 cats.

My parents have some cats who are downright ornery. Four of my parents' orneriest cats are all from one litter, and it's a family joke that these cats go out of their way to troll my mom. The cats playing with and even eating some of the party supplies in today's doodle are indeed based on those real life cats. Surprisingly, the doodled cat throwing a glass of milk to the floor isn't even one of the four aforementioned ornery cats. That doodled cat is based on Trapper, my parents' giant boy who simply likes throwing cups to the floor. He's actually my girl Thimble's litter mate, and Thimble also likes throwing things to the floor. Does any of this even make sense? Probably not.

Happy Caturday to all!

P.S. Over these past couple of weeks I've mentioned how I've apparently developed carpal/cubital tunnel syndrome in my dominant wrist and hand, and so I've been resting my wrist and hand. That's why there have only been a couple of new doodles each week, with the other days having flashback doodles. I had intended and hoped to be back to my usual doodle sharing schedule this upcoming week. Unfortunately, I forgot my wrist brace when I went to work on just one day this past week. On that one day, I made my wrist and hand very unhappy. As a result, I'm going to do just one more week of sharing mostly flashback doodles so that I can rest my wrist and hand and get them to back to the vastly improved state they had previously achieved.

I'm actually quite excited about this upcoming week, if I'm being honest, The plan is that this upcoming week, Sunday through Friday, I'll be sharing flashback Christmas in July doodles from the past 2 years. Then, on Saturday, the 25th of July, I'll be sharing a brand new Christmas in July doodle. After all, that day will be the actual Christmas in July! Then, after that, I truly do hope to be back to my usual doodle schedule, in which there are 5 new and only 2 flashback doodles each week. I can't even tell you how many doodles I have in all states of near completion right now. I love drawing in my sketchbook so much, and I've indeed still been working in my sketchbook when my wrist and hand are feeling roughly normal. At least that means I'll have plenty of brand new doodles to simply top off and easily share after resting my wrist and hand this week.

Okay, that's enough rambling. Yet again, we wish you all a happy Caturday!

Tip of the Day

Today's tip is yet another bit of common sense, and it's related to the doodle we shared today. This tip is to always be aware and cautious of decorations, gifts, and anything else that might be placed around the house for birthdays or other celebrations. Streamers, balloons, ribbons, and cake and other food can all pose risks to cats and dogs. These risks could include choking, bowel obstruction or perforation, adverse food reactions, and a plethora of other potential ailments or injuries. If gifts are present during a celebration, what's inside of them could also tempt some furbabies. For example, food items in a gift box or gift bag might lure in some cats and dogs, and that could lead to a furbaby breaking into the gift and chewing on or eating the actual gift or even gift wrapping material. To avoid all choking hazards, toxicity hazards, and all such dangers, always keep your kitty or pup in mind when preparing for a celebration. If there is any chance at all that your cat or dog will try to attain any parts or pieces of decorations, gifts, or food, then keep all such things well out of their reach. You can keep party goods in a room behind closed doors. Or, if need be, there is the option of keeping your cat or dog behind closed doors in their very own safe room. All in all, if there is any sort of party or celebration planned at your house, think ahead and do what is necessary to keep your furbaby healthy, safe, and sound.

Some cats do share family traits, and sometimes they are all completely different. Hope your mother had a wonderful birthday.

That's such a cute and funny card!

Mummy thinks she's also having an attack of carpal tunnel syndrome. She's had it before, and now she can't find her wrist brace.
