Happy October! It's the best month of the year. Well, in my humble opinion it's the best month of the year. I love me some crisp autumn weather, I love me some Halloween, and so I love me some October.
Anyway, how about we get going with Angel Sammy's Thoroughly Poetic Thursday challenge?
Each week, our host shares a photo prompt to guide us as we get poetic. The prompt for this week is this delicious one here:
Perhaps needless to say, I really wanted to go for a Halloween sort of poem. No problem, though, because baked goods can be spooky. Can't they? Am I right, or am I wrong?
Creepy Café
In Spooky Town, there was a brand new café,
And so the two friends known as Mew and Ruff headed that way.
It was a perfectly chilling moonlit night.
All all sorts of strange folk were enjoying the night life.
Vampires were flocking to Bloodthirsty Theater on All Hallows' Avenue.
After all, there was plenty to see there during a full moon.
In the cemetery, Mew and Ruff helped a stumbling zombie find his head on the ground,
Which was nothing new or unusual when it came to Spooky Town.
Finally, at the new café Mew and Ruff arrived.
It stood tall and dark on the corner of Dreary Drive.
The sign outside greeted, WELCOME TO CREEPY CAFÉ.
Licking his lips, Ruff said, "I've been waiting for this all day."
Inside the café, the sights were colorful yet indeed creepy.
Those sights as well as the sugar to be had left no possibility for feeling sleepy.
"Welcome! Welcome!" the fanged café owner did greet.
She added, "I hope you came hungry and ready to eat."
Mew and Ruff were directed to the menu,
Which in and of itself was a ghastly view.
There was so much to see and so much to choose,
And it all catered to even the most ardent and eager sweet tooth.
"I wonder if the poison apples are any good," Ruff said.
Mew's response was a sigh and a shake of the head.
Then he said, "I'll pass on the poison apple so that I don't end up deader than dead.
As a feline specter, I'm already barely hanging onto my ninth life."
Ruff nodded and said, "As a mummified mutt, my lives don't even number nine.
But, surely there's something else on this menu we can find."
After much deliberation and grumbling of tummies,
Mew and Ruff decided what to them looked the most yummy.
They gave the café owner their order and took a seat.
They were now growing more and more eager to eat.
In no time at all the café owner returned and said,
"Here's your Graveyard Goodie, my friends.
I tried not to include too many parts of the living dead."
Mew and Ruff's eyes nearly popped out of their heads.
The sight of the wonderfully creepy cupcake made Mew and Ruff's jaws drop.
They had never seen such a haunted sight at any other baked goods shop.
Needless to say, the spookily sweet treat tasted just as good as it looked.
Before they'd even finished, Mew and Ruff had their next visit to Creepy Café booked.

Now that we've rhymed, how about we give some thanks? This is made easy thanks to Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

LURV IT!
Excellent story poem, sort of Graveyard Smash-y!
Very cute poem for Poetry Day! I think a "Creepy Cafe" would be fun year-round! Thanks for joining in the poetic fun with us.
Hugs, Pam and Teddy too
Oh, I love the Creepy Cafe! Thimble, you are a cutie, and good at taking out photobombers, MOL!
I think we remember that one as a favorite!
I love your face, Thimble! And the poem is FAB! You could write a series of children's books taking place at the Creepy Café. Kids would love it!
Great poem! I made "poison apples" with my great niece last week. :) I like the drawing too. And excellent tips, as always. XO
