Mancat Monday with Miralax and a Shave

Hello, everyone! We're yet again sorry for going MIA this weekend. It was a yardwork sort of weekend, mostly because we had some major storms over the past couple of weeks, and today is the day our city will come take away all of the fallen tree limbs if they're broken up and put at the curb. So, I played with sticks for a good chunk of the weekend. It was also the first mowing weekend in something like 3 weeks, because up until those rainy storms our grass had been deader than dead.

Now, with the random rambling aside, let's get to the Mancat Monday part of this post. Poor mancat Evan is off to our vet's groomer today to get his routine Brazilian sanitary shave.

Can you believe that's how this poor boy gets treated on none other than Mancat Monday? It's abuse, he's sure of it.

That said, I wanted to share that Evan has been doing really good lately. Though we're still tweaking it to find the best dosage of Miralax to keep Evan's intestines at just the right balance, he hasn't had any of his significant episodes of constipation in nearly 2 weeks. Given that it was happening every 3 to 4 days prior to this, he and I are both ecstatic that we're going in the right direction. Experimenting with the higher end dosage of Miralax that the vet mentioned actually took us a little too far in the other direction, landing my poor boy with a bit of diarrhea. That said, we've backed off on it again and are so far doing well with the lower dose. With the Miralax and the cocktail of meds for his urinary issues all on board, Evan is truly and fully back to his usual happy and active self. I can't tell you how grateful I am for that. He just wasn't himself there for awhile, but now we seem to have finally found just the right meds and dosages, and I'm ecstatic.

Flashback Doodle of the Day

Before sharing yet another flashback doodle, I want to share that between last weekend and this weekend, I have gotten something like 7 or 8 drawings finished. Some of them were ones that have been stuck in half-finished purgatory since perhaps as far back as April. That might seem like a random thing to share, but between work and life in general, I'd sort of lost not only my routine but also my spark for drawing. This weekend, though, I suddenly felt the inspiration, and now I'm back to constantly craving drawing. The list of doodles I want to scribble up is now suddenly endless again. Anyway, all this is simply to say that once I get those drawings scanned tonight, we'll finally be back to sharing new doodles multiple times throughout the week. There will still be flashback doodles shared a couple times a week, but that will no longer be a nearly daily norm.

Tip of the Day

Today's pet parenting hack tip is a simple yet important one. Especially if your furbaby is a known chewer, do consider getting covers for power cords and other cables. I'm sure you all know the dangers that chewing on a cord can pose to our furbabies. So, to prevent this, cover up those cords and cables. There are a variety of cord and cable covers available on the market. There are covers that encase cords so that they are safe yet still able to be easily moved, and there are ones that essentially pin cords safely and securely to the floor. Of course, those are just a couple examples as to how you can make cords and cables safe around your furbabies. You can even make your own covers for cords and cables using simple things like plastic storage containers. Perhaps do a bit of research, and, depending on your home and technological setup, determine what kind of cord and cable covers would best work for both you and your furbaby. As we always say, it's better to be safe than sorry.
