Sunday Selfie: Invisible Friends

I was hoping to post a certain sort of shot today for the Sunday Selfie blog hop, hosted by our friends over at The Cat on My Head.

So, what sort of selfie was I hoping to post for you all today? Well, I wanted my boy Evan to take a selfie showing off one of his favorite things, and that's staring up at the walls and ceiling. (Don't tell him I told you, but, being fond of chasing and communicating with lights and reflections, Evan spends a fair amount of time staring up at walls and ceilings on particularly bright and shiny days.)

Did Evan oblige his groveling mom in this selfie plea?

He sure did!

You might, like Evan, be wondering why I'd want him to take a selfie in this unorthodox pose. Since you ask, it has a little to do with the fact that, when Evan does this, I like to ask him whom he's looking at and talking to. He never names any names, but perhaps that's just because he's respecting the nature of his invisible friends.

Anyway, if I can stop rambling long enough, you'll see where this is leading. It all boils down to today's prompt for JNW's Halloween Challenge, and that prompt is ghost. I knew exactly what I wanted to draw when I read this prompt.

So there you have it. You now have both photographic and illustrative proof of Evan's invisible friends.

Does anybuddy else out there have invisible furiends? (Does anybuddy else chase lights whenever a sunny, shiny day rolls around?)

We hope everybuddy has a beautiful Sunday!

Our Tip of the Day:
As I'm sure all of you cat parents out there know, our feline furbabies are not above staring at walls or ceilings or floors, seemingly looking at things that we cannot see. Often, this is perfectly normal. Cats can hear better than us and may perhaps stare at a wall, ceiling, or floor if they hear something such as a critter on the other side, or perhaps if they hear noises in the home's pipes or even electrical sounds that we cannot hear. Cats also see better than us humans in certain regards, so perhaps they see a small bug flying around across the room and are keeping an eye on it. They also might stare at a spot where they lost saw or heard something, even if it was minutes or hours earlier. That all being said, staring, especially if accompanied by a vacant look in the eyes, could potentially be a red flag that something is awry with your kitty. Some kitties will simply sit and stare blankly if they are in pain. Other medical issues, such as an impending seizure or other neurological disorders, or even liver disease, can prompt a blank stare in a cat or even a dog. Since you know your kitty best, if you begin seeing abnormal behavior such as a staring into space, please consult a veterinarian.

We love these selfies of Evan. We sometimes do the same thing...stare at things the humans can't see. It freaks them out. ;) We love your drawing, too!

Mum often finds us staring at nothing at all!

Great selfie Evan, you are a cutie. I love ghosts- your drawing is perfect. I hope that will be in your Etsy store. For several years when I first got Lucy, she would stare into the hallway, I wondered if it was my Dad visiting because he passed soon after I adopted Lucy. Excellent tip, we know when our kitties are doing something not normal for them that they should be checked.

Oh, Evan, you are such a cutie-patootie! We like to stare at the walls sometimes, too ... it keeps the humans guessing. MOL! :)

That artwork of Evan and the ghosts is adorable. LOVE.

Oh Evan, those are great pictures of you. It is fun to look up and just see if we can find a bug or something good up there. You all have a great Sunday.

Hmmmm, tis a puzzlement. Maybe Evan sees ghost kitties in the walls. Can't think of any other explanation unless he just enjoys holding his neck in that position. What a great selfie.

That's a lovely drawing, and gorgeous selfies. I sometimes stare at the door, and sometimes I even hiss at it. I only do it when mum is home on her own. She says I give her the heebie jeebies.

YAY Evan!!! Don't spook your mom too much with your invisible friends!

Oh, Evan is DEFINITELY handsome from any angle. I always make jokes that when Bear's staring at a wall, he's downloading important feline updates and shouldn't be interrupted :)

These are just the most gorgeous selfies, Evan! Now I'm going to be wondering if they're staring at the wall because there's a bug on the other side! I will be hoping for a sound in a pipe... :-)
