Sunday Selfies: Trick-or-Treat

For today's Sunday Selfies blog hop, hosted by our Kitties Blue furiends over at The Cat on My Head, my furbabies wanted to give you all a demonstration of some of the tricks and treats here at our home. After all, 'tis the season.

Evan wanted to show off one of his favorite treats, and that would of course be basking in the sun at his beloved front door.

Thimble says her treat is for all of you, and that is her adorable face. See?

Eddy wants you all to know that one of the dirtiest tricks around here is when her mom shoves that flashy box in her face. Most especially when it catches a shot she isn't expecting.

Astrid wanted to use one of her famous pouty puppy selfies as a prelude.

And that sad little selfie is a prelude to what, you ask? Well, it's a prelude to what Astrid thinks is just about one of the most unfathomable tricks in this house. Astrid informed me that since JNW's Halloween Challenge prompt for today is trick, it would only make sense for her to illustrate her thoughts like this:

You see, believe it or not, these humans around here often ask that Astrid perform tricks in order to earn her treats. Can you believe that? Isn't that just the dirtiest sort of trick that ever existed? Astrid sure thinks so. Honestly, sitting and shaking, what's up with such nonsense? Astrid says she hopes none of her furiends out there have to endure such torment.

Happy Sunday to one and all!

Our Tip of the Day:
Today's tip is a simple reminder that positive reinforcement is one of the best learning tools around when it comes to training your pup, or even your kitty. When you are teaching your furbaby a trick, rewarding them with a treat when they obey is one of the best ways to compel them to repeat that trick again in the future. Positive reinforcement is a simple yet effective way to train a furbaby, not to mention that it is a humane method that keeps everyone happy. That being said, please never use negative reinforcement or any form of physical punishment as a means of training. And each puppy and kitty has different learning curves, so please always have patience!

Eddy, that is one great expression on your face. And Evan, always good to see you by your door. Astrid, your close up is great but the most fun is the wonderful drawing. Well done all of you.

Evan, we can always count on you to take a sunny selfie. Thank you, Thimble, for showing that adorable face. Eddy, we always enjoy your Elvis impersonation. Astrid, super models pout too! Sorry you have to perform to get treats, but that big bowl of treats sure looks good (we're assuming). Happy Sunday!

Very cute selfies, especially Eddy with her fang. And I love the drawing- Astrid is smart so I am sure she gets lots of treats. Around here the training is reversed, the cats train me- and sometimes they do use negative reinforcement like peeing in a bad place. I do learn fast though :)

We love your tricks and treats, sweet friends! Astrid, it may be a rotten trick that you have to do tricks for your treats, but we bet it's really cute. :)

Hugs to you all!

Yeah, I've heard that dogs have to do tricks to get treats, Astrid. I'm glad I'm not a dog!

I probably should make the chi's do tricks before giving them a treat, but they get one every morning just because they're so darn cute! If I ever forget, Chico is always there to remind me.
