It's rhyme time!

Hello, my name is Thimble.
I am quite cute and clever and oh so nimble.
But even more, I am your librarian.
No, that does not mean I am Bulgarian.

So welcome, one and all.
Just stay off my desk, lest you fall.
Also, it is mine,
and sharing it is not fine.
I take my job quite seriously,
as I love my books so very dearly.

Now what is this?
Something here is quite amiss.
These books, they are so very overdue.
What a hefty fine that will land you.
No one gets away with stealing my books.
No, not ever, those little crooks.

I count my books each and every day,
to make sure not a single one goes astray.
And, yes, of course I sniff them, too.
I wouldn't want them to smell like p—

Evan, what are you doing here?!?
Have I not made myself so very clear?!?
There are simply no boys allowed!
You boys, you're simply far too loud!
I don't care if you're wearing a hat.
No, I don't, so you better scat.

Here I come, to shoo you out.
And I better not see you pout.
I've told you this a thousand times,
and with a thousand different rhymes.

Yeah, you better be scared.
You're the very one who dared,
who dared disrupt my library.
Yeah, I can be quite scary.

Really, now, here I come.
And about this, Evan, you better stay mum.
I don't want the human hearing of this.
She doesn't need to know if I give you a hiss.

Okay, good, the orange boy is gone.
Now, which book did I leave off on?
Was it this one here?
How does it appear?
I better not find that it has been pawed.
Such indignity should be outlawed.
My books deserve the utmost care,
so I better not find some orange kitty's hair.

Seriously, Evan, what the heck?!?
You're turning my poem into a train wreck!
Get out, get out, get out!
Good grief, don't be a lout.
I give up.
It's time to sup.
But not on food.
I don't mean to be rude,
but I'd much rather dive into a good book
than see what's being offered up by the cook.
So let me see,
which book will it be?

There, I found the purrfect one.
Yes, this is it, this one has won.
What else could be better,
than feasting on literature
about a famous cat
in a famous hat?
Not much, indeed.
And so now, it's time to read!

Thimble hopes you like her rhyming!
But we do apologize for its timing.
It may be wrong,
and likely far too long.
But what else were we to do,
on this day of March that is the number 2?
Dr. Seuss Day it is indeed,
and so lots of rhyming is what we need!

Happy Dr. Seuss Day! Now, go rhyme away!

Our Tip of the Day:
The Purrfect Job recently published a fantastic post about human baby items that can be used for our furbabies. I just yesterday talked about using baby gates for dogs and cats, and now today, it being Dr. Seuss Day, I figured I'd reiterate a wonderful point The Purrfect Job made about books in their recent post. Especially when it comes to timid furbabies, humans can learn a lot about speaking and acting soothingly around dogs and cats simply by reading children's books. Even in their normal speaking voice, many people don't know how loud or blunt they might sound to a scared or timid animal. One way to get used to speaking more quietly and calmly is by reading children's books out loud. You can pretend you are reading to a child or furbaby, or do so for real. Sometimes just reading around a timid animal can help them get used to your voice, and this is very beneficial if you are reading in a continuously calm and soothing tone. So, grab those books – Dr. Seuss books, for that matter! – and getting reading to those furbabies!

That is such a sweet idea! Our mom sings a lullaby or two to us sometimes and we LIKE it! We're going to request readings, now! And we loved your poem, except that we do NOT blame Evan for checking our book activities out! Happy Dr S day!
