Chaotic Caturday Art

Today's post is going to be a bit chaotic. It's more or less our final post heavily dedicated to Halloween. After all, Halloween was last weekend. Then again, isn't every day Halloween? Or is that just my humble opinion?

Anyway. We'll start with the doodle we scribbled up for Athena's Caturday Art Blog Hop. It's all about the aftermath of Halloween, with a few hints at Christmas in there.

That doodle is more or less inspired by the fact that I always feast on pizza and sweets on Halloween, and there are always plenty of leftovers to eat during the days after Halloween. While I'm still enjoying Halloween goodies, though, the world around me is already starting to segue into Christmas. So, that's where the Christmas part of that there doodle comes in.

That strange doodle is not the only art we have to share today. Our other art is of a very different sort, though. It's all about the pumpkins.

The day before Halloween, I grabbed 6 pumpkins from the store, brought them home, and carved away while watching one of my favorite Halloween movies. Who knows what classic Halloween movie is playing on the TV there?

As you can see, I had plenty of snoopervisors during my pumpkin carving session. I use kid-friendly carving tools in no small part because my cats always invade my space, and I don't want them getting hurt.

If you're curious what my pumpkins looked like lit, here's a peek of that.

Do you see the blur in the darkness behind the pumpkins, up on the porch? That's the friendly neighbor cat keeping me company. Actually, he was eating some treats during this photo shoot. He knows I'm a pushover and that I will always give him treats when he comes to visit.

My pumpkins aren't the only ones I have to share today, though. A couple towns over from me there is a pumpkin patch out in a quaint yet slightly creepy rural area. Every Halloween season, that pumpkin patch grows hundreds upon hundreds of pumpkins, which people are allowed to come carve the days leading up to Halloween. Then, the couple nights before Halloween and on Halloween night itself, the owners of this pumpkin patch line up all of these hundreds of jack-o'-lanterns along the road and people can drive by and see them all. My mom and I drive out there every year to see them, and I love it.

My favorite pumpkins are of course the ones carved to look like animals.

I thought this next pumpkin was a dog. Then I looked at it again and thought that perhaps instead it was Winnie the Pooh. What do you think?

There were lots of pumpkins carved with characters from various shows and movies. How many do you recognize?

There were some very inspiring pumpkins out there.

And then this one showed up.

That one made more sense once I saw some of the next ones.

Let's follow up those nightmarish pumpkins with some happier ones.

Ready for Pac-Man?

And who here knows Pikachu?

And, of course, let's finish off Halloween with a dose of Christmas.

We hope you all enjoyed our Halloween posts, all the way through the first week of November!

Happy Catruday to all!

Tip of the Day

We're not finished with our Pet Cancer Awareness Month tips just yet. Today, we want to remind you all that, just like us humans, it is possible for our furbabies to be affected by cigarette smoke, and cancer could potentially develop as a result. For this reason, if you smoke, avoid doing this in the home or around your kitty or pup. In addition, when out in public, do your best to keep your furbabies away from areas where smoking is common. Smoking affects more than just the smoker, so for the sake of both yourself and your furbaby, do try to avoid it.

Six pumpkins in one day, you are a carving queen.
