Friendly Fill-Ins

Isn't Friday such a wonderful day of the week? We sure think it is. That's in no small part because it's the day of the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge. If you'd like to join us in filling in some fill-ins but missed the fill-in statements yesterday, we'll share them again here. Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two, and I came up with the second two.

1. I like being _________.

2. I don't want to _________, but I have to.

3. I'm counting down the days until _________.

4. _________ is a lot like _________.

My answers are below in bold.

1. I like being home.
(If you visit our blog regularly, you've probably heard me say this before. I'm a huge homebody. Home is where I'm most comfortable, and it's also of course where my furbabies are. So, I like being home.)

2. I don't want to leave my furbabies home alone, but I have to.
(I currently work outside of the home. So does my sister, who lives with me. That means that during the work week, my kitties and pup are home alone during the day. Both my sister and myself do get to go home for lunch, and we have cameras set up in the house so that we can keep an eye on our furbabies, but it still pains me every time I leave them home alone. I miss them when I'm away from home, I worry about them when I'm away from home, and, like I said in the above fill-in, I really just like being home. I'm beyond grateful that I have a job and paychecks that allow me to care for my furbabies and myself, but I really would be lying if I said I don't want to work from home some day. Working from home is indeed a goal of mine, in no small part because I want to be with my kitties and pup.)

3. I'm counting down the days until I decorate my house for Christmas.
(It's a decades-old tradition in my family to put up Christmas decorations on the day after Thanksgiving, that of course being Black Friday. I would happily put up my Christmas decor earlier, but this family tradition honestly means a lot to me, and so I continue it. So, I'm counting down the days until Black Friday. I've never cared at all about Black Friday deals or shopping, but I do care that it's the day when I finally put up my Christmas trees and other holly jolly decor.)

4. Life with cats is a lot like a circus.
(I've got cats climbing window blinds and cats trying to hang from the blades of thankfully unmoving ceiling fans. It's a real circus show in here, and I love it.)

Who's ready for a fix of Eddy? Actually, you'll be getting a fix of Eddy and Evan, because Eddy wanted to pose with her favorite orange boy.

In true Eddy style, and in the true style of this here novice photographer of a human, this photo is very far from high quality. But, it shows off how Eddy loves her some Evan, and that's what Eddy wanted the world to know today.

Happy Friday, friends!

Flashback Doodle of the Day

Today is the last day I'm sharing an autumnal flashback doodle from 2018 that I plan to recreate over the next week. Our first recreation of these flashback doodles will actually be shared tomorrow, for Athena's Caturday Art Blog Hop. I'm having a great time finding ways to recreate these 2-year-old doodles in my more current style of drawing. I'm also enjoying them because I get to draw cats and books in autumnal settings. Anyway, here's the last doodle we'll be recreating for the upcoming week.

Tip of the Day

Today's Pet Diabetes Awareness Month tip is to know and understand symptoms of and potential treatments for diabetic complications such as hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). As we mentioned yesterday, hypoglycemia might result from a cat or dog failing to eat. Especially if they are still given insulin even when not eating, their blood sugar can drop dangerously. Hypoglycemia can result in any number of symptoms, which might include increased appetite, vomiting, rapid breathing, lethargy, and difficulty walking.

One quick trick to potentially help a hypoglycemic cat or dog in an emergency is to have honey, maple syrup, corn syrup, or some form of sugar syrup available. Rubbing a sugary substance such as one of these on a hypoglycemic animal's gum line or in their cheeks can help to raise their glucose to a safer level. Of course, discuss with your veterinarian any questions you have regarding hypoglycemia and reversing it. Also alert your veterinarian of any hypoglycemic events your furbaby has, so that better diabetes management can be achieved. What's more, get a hypoglycemic furbaby to the vet as soon as possible, if needed.

We're homebodies too. Nothing wrong with that. Love all your fill-ins. Had to chuckle on #4.

Thank you for co-hosting the Friendly Fill-ins.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥

Lorraine,

I like being home, too. I didn't think of that for my response but I'm totally with you on it. :) Decorating for Christmas will begin hopefully next weekend. I don't do a lot but we will set up our little Christmas tree. I probably will skip displaying my village this time because there's too many things out of place. There's always next year, right? Thanks for hosting the fun. I stopped by Ellen's but didn't see her FF post. Is she ok? I hope so! Have a good weekend, my dear!

I enjoy working from home; I get time with all of The Eastside Cats!
But, there are three cat locations, and every time I leave one for another, I feel sad. I walk away from Sweetie to visit Da Boyz, then I leave the house to visit The PO'M. The look they give me as I leave...

Excellent answers. I don't like leaving my kitty alone especially since my other cat passed only last week. Fortunately, I'm retired so I'm always home. Hope you have a great weekend!

I love your answers. I feel the same about being home and hate to leave my cats. I am lucky my hubby is retired so when I do leave the house, I can call him to see how they are doing.
This is my favorite photo of Eddy- no blooper there. I like the drawing too. And excellent tips, as always. Have a wonderful weekend. XO

My hope is you will get to work from home someday, and yes, it is a circus when you have more than one cat in the house. Thanks for hosting the fill-ins!
