Thoroughly Poetic Thankful Thimble Thursday

It's Thursday, and we're ready to participate in Angel Sammy's Thoroughly Poetic Thursday challenge.

As always, our courteous host shared a photo prompt to help guide us. This week's prompt is this interesting image here:

I've been sharing and working on some doodles that are summery but with homages to the spooky season coming up. That's simply because I'm ready for the hot summer to end and for autumn and Halloween to have their turn. Perhaps that's why I saw this photo prompt and ended up with a poem like this:

Pete at the Park

On warm summer days,
The park was the place to play.
All the young ones of town swarmed the place,
To laugh and play and have race after race.

At the park, Kit and Ralph soared down the slide.
Over and over they flew down it for a ride
There was also Tabitha, who went by Tabby,
Who chose none other than the high-flying swing.

Other happy and active young ones played tag,
While others chose dodgeball and capture the flag.
They laughed and yelled and scurried about.
Not a single soul could even think to be sad or pout.

As for Pete, though, he had other ideas for the park.
He didn't want to slide or swing until dark.
Though it was indeed a warm summer day,
He was ready for autumn and its spooky ways.

Pete was what you might call a bookworm,
Which was not in the least a bad thing, no sir.
And so at the park Pete enjoyed his two passions,
Those being books and all things of spooky fashion.

Pete sat on a cozy blanket in the grass,
Drinking lemonade from a big, tall glass.
For snack, he brought a bowl of tasty watermelon to enjoy,
And all sorts of scary books rather than silly old toys.

Pete read his tales of horror all summer long,
The monsters and ghosts getting him through those days so hot.
The others at the park could not help but start looking,
Wondering as Pete sat by himself reading tales so spooky.

Kit and Ralph asked Pete if he wished to go down the slide,
While Tabby asked Pete if he wished to take the swing for a ride.
Pete politely turned down the offers,
Though something of his own he did proffer.

And that was how Pete came about his summer book club,
At which the king of terror and horror he was soon dubbed.
And so Pete and his new friends sat snacking on watermelon and lemonade,
While on those warm summer days Pete told them tales to make them happily afraid.

Now it's of course time for Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

As always, Thimble is here to give thanks. So, what is this girl thankful for today? She's grateful for her adorable belly and any rubs it gets!

Feel free to tickle Thimble's tummy. She won't mind one bit.

Tip of the Day

Our kitties rule the household. That often means they more or less have free roam of the place. Sometimes, though, that might become a bit difficult for them, for a variety of potential reasons. If your cat, or dog, is allowed on furniture, make sure that they can easily and safely access it. This is something to especially take into consideration for cats or dogs with mobility issues. Geriatric, arthritic, injured, and any other specially abled furbabies may require some form of help getting onto couches, chairs, beds, tables, shelves, and other pieces of furniture on which they are allowed. Sometimes all you have to do is put low stools or boxes next to the furniture, as long as said stools or boxes are safe and sturdy. There are also pet stairs and pet ramps available on the market, which can be placed beside beds, couches, and other relevant furniture. So, if your furbaby is allowed on furniture, keep in mind what might affect their ability to get onto said furniture. Age, injuries, and other such factors can make it difficult for your cat, or dog, to reach elevated locations. Take all such factors into consideration, and help your furbaby adjust as best and as safely as possible.

Thimble, my hands want to reach into the screen!
Tell your momma that I read 'Dracula' recently, and was surprised at how good it was, even after all the years.

A summer book club sounds great, especially when the slide gets too hot to go down it.

Thimble, i'd love to give you tummy rubs!

Tummy rubs all 'round, I say! That sure is one interesting photo, and your poem is magnificent. Dad's a huge horror fan, so he can relate.
