Friendly Fill-Ins

Hello and happy Friday, friends! Let's get to the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, shall we? Please feel free to join in on the fun! My co-host Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two fill-in statements, and I came up with the second two.

1. A fashion trend that I hope never returns is _________.

2. I fashion trend I wouldn't mind coming back in style is _________.

3. I think _________ is superior to _________.

4. When a new month rolls around, I _________.

My answers are below in bold.

1. A fashion trend that I hope never returns is fur coats.
(I'm talking about coats made of real fur. I loathe the concept of those. I know they were a big thing for various reasons in different points in history, but I hope they never make a comeback.)

2. I fashion trend I wouldn't mind coming back in style is chunky, oversized sweaters.
(I actually think these are kind of back in style now, but either way, I love these and wear them all the time when the weather is cool enough. An oversized sweater makes it feel like you're walking around wearing a blanket, and I appreciate that. So, hopefully this really is or will become popular again. I'll wear them either way, but if they're back in style, then they'll at least be easier to find. Now, if only it wasn't 90°F outside and I could actually wear cozy sweaters.)

3. I think the feline species is superior to the human species.
(Maybe this is an unkind thing to say about humanity, but I bet I'm not the only one here who would rather spend time with cats than other humans. The same goes for dogs and other companion animals. No offense to all of our human friends out there, or to humanity as a whole, but humans just can't offer the unconditional love that animals can.)

4. When a new month rolls around, I use it as a chance to reassess my goals.
(I absolutely do not think a person needs to wait for a new month, or a new week or a new year or a new anything, in order to set goals. Even so, a new month does sometimes feel like a clean slate. So, I do use the beginning of a new month to think about what all I want to accomplish over those next few weeks. For July, I myself have set goals to make my full-time work schedule still allow me time to more fully get back to my personal, creative endeavors, of which there are many. I have set all sorts of goals this month for drawing, blogging, writing, reading, and you get the idea. Let's see how I do with these.)

Are you ready for your Eddy fix? Well, today you get a fix of both Eddy and Thimble.

Eddy isn't a big fan of other cats.  The only one of her own kind she really, truly likes is her beloved Evan. But, sometimes she can get along with Thimble as well. Pretty much all other cats are a big no-no. If you weren't sure, Eddy's the one at the bottom of this photo, enjoying a front row seat of the open window. Having a distraction like this makes Eddy more likely to refrain from smacking Thimble around. She's only allowed open window time when I'm right there, though, so the peace and quiet didn't last long.

Have a fantastic day!

Tip of the Day

Yesterday, we mentioned some of the benefits of growing cat grass indoors for your kitty. We wanted to offer a couple more tips in this same line of thought. First, you don't only have to grow cat grass in small pots from which your kitty can have a bit of a green snack. Another option is to create for your kitty a cat grass bed. For example, you could grow some cat grass in a larger pot, and some cats will enjoy this grassy environment for napping or playing purposes. Cats' ancestors out in the wild often live, sleep, and even play in this type of grassy environment, so why not our domesticated kitties?

Another option is to create beds or play areas out of artificial grass, which can again give off the idea of a more wild environment for your kitty. Most synthetic grass materials are safe for pets, but you should of course still always double check, or simply look for ones that are specifically designed to be pet-friendly. There are, in fact, artificial grass toys, scratchers, and beds that are specifically designed for cats. Did you know there are even artificial grass potty mats for dogs, or even cats? All in all, artificial grass is not only low-maintenance, but can also have beneficial effects for your kitty. It can offer them a place to play or snooze, all while mimicking grassy environments found out in the wild. If you think your cat might enjoy cat grass or synthetic grass in the form of a bed or play area, perhaps look into setting this up for them.

I enjoyed all your answers. I am mad at myself for not saying fur coats too. And I also love chunky sweaters. And I am in complete agreement on #3. Nice shots of Thimble and Eddy. And excellent tips. Have a wonderful weekend. XO

Why can't we all just get along, humans AND kitties?

Mum agrees with 1-3. Unfortunately, some fashion designers still use real fur and some ugly humans, esp the rich and celebs, still wear it. Also, even fake fur has been known to be real so Mum doesn't wear any sort of fur.

Wearing fur is not something i'm a fan of, either.

Eddy, i'm so glad you can get along nicely with other cats (sometimes).

Nice fill-ins. TW caused quite a stir while in high school when she went in to buy a jacket and told the saleslady she wasn't innerested in rabbit fur. Those short rabbit fur jackets that were before your time were all the rage.
