Caturday Art: Eight-Legged Freak

I mentioned in a recent post my more or less arachnophobic tendencies. Let's be honest, spiders freak me out.Though I know they serve their purpose in the grand scheme of things, I admittedly still do not like to see them creeping and crawling around my house, let alone sneaking up on me. Luckily, though, spiders don't often get the chance to sneak up on me around here, as I have my very own wildly proficient spider hunters.

That leads me to today's drawing, which serves as our contribution for both Athena's Caturday Art blog hop, as well as for the daily Halloween Challenge, as today's prompt is spider/web. In honor of my spider hunters, always on duty and always on the lookout for those eight-legged freaks, I ended up with this:

I don't think this spider has much luck on its side. Once my furbabies catch sight of their leggy prey, it's usually just a matter of time before it ends up slapped around like a ping pong ball, and sometimes eaten. I'll admit, I always feel quite horrible watching my furbabies torture those poor buggers, but helping them would require far more bravery than I can usually muster.

Are any of our furiends out there spider hunters?

Happy Caturday, everybuddy!

Our Tip of the Day:
Our furbabies, especially those of the feline sort, are known to stalk and chase and even eat bugs. This is actually normal, as it stems back to their instinct to hunt. And, what's more, did you know that most bugs are actually quite high in protein? Being obligate carnivores, no wonder our kitties are drawn to those bugs. Please do be cautious, though, as not only are there a handful of venomous bugs out there, but also some bugs can irritate your furbaby's intestinal tract. Although it depends on the individual kitty and bug in question, there is always the chance that your furbaby will eat a bug only to end up with vomiting and/or diarrhea. Although in some cases there is only a mild reaction, if your furbaby ends up with vomiting or diarrhea that is in any way severe or persistent, please consult a veterinarian. And, if your furbaby has a history of eating bugs and ending up with such symptoms, it might be best to make all attempts to keep them from eating those buggers.

Your drawing is the perfect Halloween balance of cute and creepy, I love it! My dog is not much of a hunter, so it's left to me to hunt down the creepy crawlies in my house. I always get them in the end, it just sometimes takes a few minutes of courage building before I make the attempt.

What a great picture. Scary looking Spider. My cats would have such a good time chasing that one with all those legs. You all have a great day.

Left to his own devices, Bear often leaves me spider legs and three-legged spiders (still alive). I usually try to "save" the poor spiders if I can. Around here, there are brown recluses which most people consider worse than black widows - so I have another reason to try to discourage his spider hunts ... he could mess with the wrong spider.

I love the spider hunter art, very cute. I am afraid of most bugs, but I love spiders. None of my cats seem to hunt bugs which is annoying when we get a fly in the house. Stinky was the only one that ever tried.

I have three cats, two lazy old fat boys (brothers) and one Magnificent acrobatic female who hunts anything that moves. Not many spiders in my house either, glad to say, though I don't fear of most of them. I usually scoop them up on a piece of paper and throw them outside where they can do their work in my garden. Cute painting ... the two on the right look just like my boys, the one on the top is exactly where I would expect to find Diva (the Devil Child) and I too have a dog with a little different coloring. Like old home week ... :)

Love the art! Even though I am arachnophobic I hate to harm them but Athena will probably get there first.

The mom doesn't like spiders much either. Funny thing, we usually ignore them when we see them. Though the mom wishes we would get rid of them.
