Who's happy it's Friday? We sure are! One reason for this is that it's time for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, hosted by our pals over at 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader.

This week's fill-ins are fantastic and fun (just like always!). Here they are:

1. One Halloween, I dressed as _________.
2. My favorite comedian is _________.
3. My scariest Halloween was _________.
4. _________ is my favorite Halloween treat.

I was very happy to see these Halloween-heavy fill-ins, as with only 10 days to go until the holiday itself, I'm sort of super excited. That being said, here's what I came up with:

1. One Halloween, I dressed as a black cat!
(I believe I was 8 or 9 years old that year. I wore all black, my mom made a tail and ears for me to wear, and she painted my face. I loved this costume, and I still have the tail!)

2. My favorite comedian is Bob Newhart.
(I'll thank my dad for this one. I don't know why, but I've never really been one to watch stand-up comedy and the like. I love Bob Newhart as an actor, though, so when my dad years ago informed me that good ol' Bob had once done stand-up comedy, I had to check it out. It made me love Bob Newhart even more. He has such great deadpan humor and wonderfully dry delivery.)

3. My scariest Halloween was when I was about 5 years old and walked into the living room when my dad was watching the movie Halloween.
(For years after that, I always pictured "the boogie man" as looking just like Michael Myers in his white mask and blue coveralls. Nowadays, Halloween is my go-to movie to watch on Halloween night.)

4. Banana Laffy Taffys are my favorite Halloween treat.
(This addiction started years ago. I hardly ever got these as a trick-or-treater myself. But, I did a lot of babysitting throughout high school, and it seems like the kids I cared for back then always got tons of these in their treat bags. Whenever I'd babysit after Halloween, the kids' parents would often tell me to help myself to the candy. I always hated to steal hard-earned candy from children, so I hardly ever took the parents up on the offer. That is, unless, I saw a banana Laffy Taffy in there.)

Next up? Eddy! Did this active girl feel like posing for the camera. Of course not!

How about a little stink eye?

There you have it.

Except we're not quite done yet. Today's prompt for JNW's Halloween Challenge is cauldron. Ever since I was a kid, I've been fascinated with cauldrons (I even have flower pots that are, you guessed it, cauldrons). Honestly, what's more magical and fanciful and Halloweenish than a witch's cauldron? Anyway, Eddy didn't let me forget that it was her turn to star in a Halloween drawing. Well, Eddy, you sure do like stirring the pot around here, my active little lady, so this one's for you.

Have a spooktacular day, everybuddy!

Our Tip of the Day:
We all know that feeding our furbabies chocolate is not good for them, nor is feeding them many other sugary goods. Also beware, though, of certain products labeled as sugar-free. I'm sure many of you have heard of xylitol, a natural sweetener often used in sweets to make them safe for those with diabetes or for those simply trying to cut back on refined sugars. Xylitol, though, is toxic to our furbabies. It can cause vomiting, diarrhea, lack of coordination, and potentially seizures in dogs and cats. It can cause a sudden release of insulin in your furbaby's system, leading to hypoglycemia, and can ultimately result in liver failure. This is why any goods labeled as sugar-free should be a no-go for your furbabies, most especially when xylitol is listed as an ingredient. Also keep in mind that not only is xylitol found in sugar-free candies and gums, but also potentially other foods, such as some brands of peanut butter. Xylitol is also found in some toothpastes, mouthwashes, and potentially a number of other goods. The moral of the story is to always look at the label, and stick to foods and treats that are known to be healthy choices for your furbaby. If you know or even think your furbaby consumed anything containing xylitol, please consult a veterinarian immediately.

It seems that Bob Newhart had a good, clean humor that is so rare these days. I used to love to watch his show with Larry, and his brother Daryl and his other brother Daryl. That was good humor.

I love the stink eye photo. That's great. :)

The Halloween movie, or rather the memories of it, still scare me, but also make me laugh. It created a terrifying, but funny, (mostly terrifying) situation when I was just coming out of surgery when I was 16 years old. I was scared to death that Michael was going to get me. David was at the hospital waiting for me to come out of surgery. I was whisper-screaming MICHAEL! all the way from recovery to my room. The nurses kept trying to reassure me by saying that Michael was in my room waiting for me, that he'd been there the whole time, etc. They didn't know David's name, so they thought he was the Michael I was calling for. Their reassurances were NOT reassuring!

Your cauldron image is wonderful! We had a big one in our backyard for a planter. Nothing ever grew in it but weeds. The neighbors asked if they could have it, so they have it now. But, I think they make really cool planters. :)

Have a blessed weekend!

Oh Eddy, you silly girl. It is hard to hold still. We love your fill-in answers. And that drawing is just the best. Love the expression on the kitty face. Well done.

I love Bob Newhart, too! I used to love watching his show - every once in awhile I catch reruns on cable. Seriously one of the funniest shows ever - that and The Odd Couple are still my favorite old shows.

Love your spooky drawing today!

Oh, I just love your drawing of Eddy stirring the cauldron. It's so magical and sweet and perfect for Halloween. Wait until you see my answers to numbers 1 and 3. Ours are quite similar, especially #1. How funny that you still have the tail! I really like Bob Newhart too and loved the Bob Newhart show (not Newhart as much). I still enjoy watching those reruns. I love all flavors of Laffy Taffy but always eat too many and give myself a stomach ache.

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I love your answers. I bet you were an adorable black cat. Halloween is a scary movie for an adult so I am sure you were scared. I love Bob Newhart, I enjoyed his stint on The Big Bang Theory. Eddy is too funny how her photos blurr. I love the drawing of her on the cauldron. That is a great tip, I never thought about the artificial sweeteners, not that I use any, I go for the real stuff, but it is good to know. I hope you have a great weekend!

Thanks for today's tip. I didn't know that. Eddy stirring the cauldron is adorable. You are just so wonderfully creative. I'd forgotten all about Laffy Taffy...not only good to eat but fun to play with as well. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

We love your fill in answers. Every year the mom wears her cat ears when she hands out candy to all the trick-or-treaters. She thinks she's a cat!

Wonderful drawing! Great fill-in answers. TW once saw the late George Carlin at a local theatre. She also liked and saw Robert Klein and Billy Crystal.

We gave up on Halloween years ago. No kids came by for 5 years. TBT does say that in the older dys, when kids DIS come by, he would hide next to the steps in a dark clothes and then rise up doing a "whoooo hoooo" sound.

He is debating carving a pumpkin and sitting on the inside steps by the front door waiting. He saw a couple of kids walk by last year, smaybe they are starting again.

Anonymous said... & I really have a lot in common, my friend! I have been a black cat, a white cat, and a Tuxedo cat. Really. And Banana Laffy Taffy?! Bill just bought me some! Yum! It is a longtime favourite of mine, too.
