Would you look at that? Just look at all of those Halloween decorations still filling up Thimble's prized library. It's over a week into the month of Thanksgiving, and there are still jack-o'-lanterns and ghosts everywhere around here!
*eye roll*
Since we're already in the library, Thimble decided that the art we share today should be one of the mixed media bookmarks I've been working on. I'm one of those old school people who still highly prefers reading an actual, physical book. And so, I still use bookmarks every single day. That may or may not be why I find making them so much fun.
I drew this bookworm of a kitty on a piece of scrap paper with my beloved markers and paint pens, cut her out, backed her with an old book page, and then laminated her. I have a bunch of bookmarks like this in the works, because I've sort of become addicted to creating them. That, and ornaments. My floors are covered in scraps of paper and laminating sheets, in case your were wondering.

Now, Thimble has one more thing to say. Actually, she's letting me say it. Thank you, Thimble! I know that I can tend to get a bit long-winded sometimes, so I'll try to make this short and sweet.
Do you all remember my previous mentions of Hospice Hearts, the non-profit, volunteer-based, foster-based animal rescue group in my local area that works to adopt out the animals of those people who are elderly, whose health is failing, who are entering nursing homes or hospice care, or who are in some similar way no longer able to care for their pets?
Long story short, this rescue group, which my mother and I both admire and do our best to assist, is in desperate need of some extra donations at this time. Hospice Hearts is so incredible and dear to my heart because it especially caters to the intake and adopting out of furbabies who would otherwise likely not make it in the shelter system, such as the geriatric (like my angel Rosie) and those with special needs (like my boy Evan). As wonderful as this is, though, these special cases often take extra special care, which of course means extra costs. Hospice Hearts is dedicated to the work they do, though, and to the animals that need their help, so they are not losing hope.
That being said, to make an effort to build their funds back up so that they can continue their mission, Hospice Hearts reached out to its supporters and asked if they could find 50 volunteers to each individually try and raise $200 for the rescue group. My mother stepped up to participate in this, and I wish to help her.
So, if you have even a couple of dollars to spare, please consider donating to our beloved Hospice Hearts animal rescue group. My mother started a GoFundMe page to keep track of donations, all of which will then be directly transferred to Hospice Hearts. You can donate by clicking here.
As a token of gratitude on behalf of both Hospice Hearts and my mother, I will send a little piece of my mixed media art, much like the bookmark above, to anyone who makes a donation, no matter how big or small. If you do make a donation, please let me know either in a comment here or by email (fourleggedfurballs@gmail.com), and let me know if you are interested in receiving a bookmark, ornament, or refrigerator magnet created by me. If you do go this route, please also be sure to email your address to me, so that I can send your token of gratitude to you in the mail!
That all being said, though, please feel no obligation to donate. I know that the going is not always easy, and that money can be scarce. And there is absolutely no blame or shame in that. Even your purrs, barks, and prayers can help Hospice Hearts, and all animal shelters and rescue groups in need.
Thank you all for always hearing me out. All of us here appreciate any donations, purrs, barks, and prayers you can send the way of Hospice Hearts. We are so thankful for all of you in this wonderful community of bloggers, and we always appreciate you and all that you do! And that's why we're submitting our gratitude for all of you to Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop this week.
Purrs, barks, prayers, and thanks to all of our furiends and friends, today and every day!

Our Tip of the Day:
As I'm sure you all know, please always be cautious when using potentially dangerous devices and machines around your furbabies. Stoves, ovens, dryers, and washers are all common concerns that I know all of you are aware of. But, please also remember to consider your furbaby's safety around perhaps less common or less frequently considered items, such as hot irons, curling irons, blow dryers, hot glue guns, or laminating machines. Since our furbabies don't always know the potential dangers of our human devices and machines, we sometimes have to think ahead for them and help them stay out of trouble. If your furbaby is especially "helpful", perhaps consider keeping all potentially dangerous devices and work stations in areas that they cannot reach, especially when unsupervised. As this broken record has said before, better safe than sorry!

I always want to leave the Christmas Tree up all year! Hospice Hearts sounds like a most wonderful group. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Your Halloween decorations are so cute! Maybe Thimbles prefers turkeys. I love the bookmarks. Like you, I also read actual books and always use a bookmark. You've mentioned Hospice Hearts before and I just love their mission.
Don't worry Thimble, our Halloween stuff is still up too. I plan to take it down this weekend, but some interlaps with Thanksgiving like pumpkins and scarecrows so it will remain. I love the art and the bookmark, I am old fashioned with real books too. I think Hopsice Hearts is incredible, I donated $10, I wish it could have been more. I love your art, but please don't send me anything, save it for your sales that will benefit the group.
Great tip too.

Hospice Hearts sound like a wonderful group.
My mum prefers real books too and says that bookmark is sweet.
As a Dickens fanatic I adore that bookmark! Hospice Hearts sounds amazing and I will most definitely be making a donation.
Why not enjoy your Halloween stuff for a little while longer? :)
Thank you and your Mom for helping Hospice Hearts. It sounds like such a great organization, and we love that you're so committed. We'll go and visit that GoFund me page shortly...
The GoFundMe page won't let us donate. We can't get past the first part ($ amount, name, comment, zip code) -- we get a message about there "being a problem with the campaign page"?
Hello, dear friends! Thank you for your support and endless kindness, and of course for letting us know about this glitch! We will be investigating to try and figure out what might be going on. Purrs, thanks, and blessings!
Very cute decorations! Our mom totally forgot to decorate. But she did just now put out our Thanksgiving decorations thanks to you guys! YAY!
Thimble, you have to get in there and whap those Halloween decorations out of your library!
I just wanted to let you know that, should you still wish to donate, we finally got the glitch solved and the fundraiser site is all good to go again. Thank you so much for always being such wonderful pals!
