Thoroughly Poetic Thankful Thimble Thursday

I am really enjoying writing a poem each week for Angel Sammy and Teddy's Thoroughly Poetic Thursday challenge.

I am certainly no true poet, but it sure is fun to pretend to be one every once in a while. Now, this week we're at the letter D. In line with the other occupational rhymes we've been drafting up, we again have someone new for you to meet this week.

Dougie the Dentist

Who among us loves to eat?
Do you ever crave something sweet?
If you do, you’re not alone.
But beware that sugar, lest you moan.
After all, cavities are no fun at all.
And if you have one, Dougie the Dentist you must call.
For Dougie the Dentist is the best of the best.
I kid you not, I do not jest.

Without your teeth, what would you do?
There would certainly be no cookies or candy for you.
But of this you need not be afraid,
For Dougie the Dentist will come to your aid.
He’ll take care of your smile and those pearly whites.
He’ll make them brighter than the brightest of lights.

Dougie the Dentist will be your best friend.
After all, he can put your dear teeth on the mend.
He’ll scrub and he’ll scrape and erase that there stain.
Oh, that there tooth, it might not remain.
But fear not the pain,
For not a single tooth will Dougie pull in vain.

Oh dear, I see I have scared you.
Please, fear not Dougie and the job he must do.
If indeed you must say goodbye to your tooth,
Dougie is the one for the job, that’s the truth.
In fact, you have no need to be even the least bit wary.
Dougie the Dentist is, after all, good friends with the Tooth Fairy.

And we didn't forget to give Dougie the Dentist an illustration of his own. Here he is, molar and all:

Now, of course, it's Thimble's turn to take over Thursday. Remember last week, when we told you guys how we had to do some rearranging in Thimble's beloved library in order fit my grandma's table that I inherited? Well, Thimble's favorite desk was relocated from our library to my bedroom. Don't worry, though, as Thimble stills love to reign over all from that desk of hers.

Instead of watching over books while on the desk now, though, she keeps watch out her new favorite window. That, and she watches this mom of hers sleep.

I often awaken to see Thimble's cute little face staring down at me. I'm okay with that.

Of course, for Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, Thimble wants to express how happy she is to have a desk of her very own. She doesn't care in which room it is, just that it is hers and hers alone.

We are all thankful for so much. We are grateful for our home, for each other, for our family, and of course for friends like you!

Our Tip of the Day:
Have you ever heard of bruxism? It is essentially another term for grinding one's teeth, and it can affect not only us humans but also our furbabies. If you ever see your kitty or pup moving his or her mouth in a teeth-grinding fashion, or if you ever hear the sound of their teeth grinding, be sure to monitor them and of course consult your veterinarian. Though in some cases bruxism might not indicate anything abnormal, it often is indeed a symptom of a deeper issue. Bruxism, as well as accompanying salivating or other noticeable symptoms, could be an indication of oral pain. It could point to issues such as an infected tooth, an oral abscess, gingivitis or stomatitis, or even severe tartar buildup. In addition, bruxism could occur if their is pain elsewhere in the body, such as in the gastrointestinal tract or even the pancreas. Don't take those teeth for granted, and be sure to consult a veterinarian if you have concerns for your furbaby's dental health!

From one Dougie (Dougie Dog, that is!) to another ... as long as you don't come by our house and pull out Zoey's famous toof ... all is O.K.

Dougie the dentist is a cutie and sounds very nice. I love the photos of Thimble and how sweet that she was watching you sleep. Excellent tip and I learned a new word. I am the one around here that does that. A few years ago, I had to have a bump removed on the side of my mouth and it was caused from my grinding.

Thimble, you should be sleeping with your human, not looking at her. Beds are nice and comfy.
