Thoroughly Poetic Thankful Thimble Thursday

Guess what? It's time for our weekly poem as part of Angel Sammy and Teddy's Thoroughly Poetic Thursday challenge!

In case you hadn't noticed or haven't yet read any of our little rhymes, we've got a sort of theme going on. We're all about the career paths and jobs, it would seem. So, continuing that theme this week, we're introducing you to yet another busy worker in another field.

Ernie the Entomologist

Ernie doesn’t do any song and dance,
But he does know what it’s like to have ants in one’s pants.
That certainly is a strange thing to say.
Surely you didn’t expect to hear that today.
But it’s truer than true,
What I am telling you.

Ernie is friends with the creepy and crawly.
And about this topic Ernie has not an ounce of folly.
Ernie does not study rocks,
And he certainly does not pick locks.
For while that man over there might be a geologist,
Ernie, on the other hand, is an entomologist.

And so Ernie knows all about bugs, bugs, bugs.
He may not know much about flooring and rugs,
But he does know all about bees and their honey,
And plenty of facts that you might find funny.
Did you know that mosquitoes like smelly feet?
Or that bugs are a lady beetle’s favorite thing to eat?

So if there are buggy questions you would like to ask,
Ernie is more than up to the task.
Really, please, don’t be shy.
Ernie is for sure your guy,
If there is anything you wish to know about the firefly.
He knows plenty about the earwig as well,
And about the moth there is also plenty to tell.
Even if what interests you is a slimy old leech,
Ernie the Entomologist has so very much to teach.

Oh, and here is a little doodle of Ernie the Entomologist and a couple of his buggers:

Wait, did somebuddy say bugs?

Oh, woops. Thimble go so excited she couldn't line up her shot.

Thimble loves her some bugs. They're just so fun to torture play with!

Thimble loves bugs so much that she wants to show her gratitude for them in Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

While Thimble is thankful for her buggy buddies, we're all also thankful for you furiends of ours!

Wishing everybuddy a beautiful day!

Our Tip of the Day:
We've talked about bugs on here more times than once. We've mentioned being cautious of potentially dangerous arachnids, steering clear of fireflies whose pretty glow can be toxic, and avoiding certain butterflies and caterpillars who eat potentially toxic milkweed. What we've never mentioned before, though, are buggers like cockroaches. Like fleas, cockroaches can carry parasites such as tapeworm. Even crickets and various beetles can carry such parasites as well. This is why, though the thrill of a bug hunt might be fun for your kitties and pups, always be cognizant of the types of bugs they might be befriending.

What a fabulous poem for "E" today! Angel Sammy was a fan of bugs and I'm fast becoming one - I generally chase lawn moths and grasshoppers though......and I have to admit MOST of the time I don't eat I just torture! Angel Sammy had a BIG LOVE of munching moths. He loved them. Thanks for joining in our poetry fun on Thursdays! We love the accompanying drawings too.........FUN FUN FUN!

Love, Teddy

Great poem and drawing!!
In one of our old houses, moths used to fly in the window sometimes, and we would go nuts trying to get them for a snack, MOL!!

That sure is a fantastic poem. Two Two is our bug catcher around here. All the cats here will go after bugs. Thimble, you sure are looking mighty good. Great pictures of you. Have a wonderful day.

That was a great poem and drawing to go with it. Thimble is adorable too. And that is an excellent tip. I never thought about ones that eat milkweed being dangerous to cats. We have a lot of milkweed around that we leave for the monarchs, but I am not sure what else goes on them. Phoebe asked me to thank you for helping her purrince's feral group, we will send you the information today. :)

Astrid is our buggy girl. Usually we only have flies or ants around. Your poem is totally magnificent, unique and creative. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
