Fill-Ins and the Letter Known as W

Who's ready for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge? We're ready for it! In case you missed the fill-in statements yesterday, I'll share them again here. Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two, and I came up with the second two.

1. I got my first cell phone in _________.

2. I wish the word _________ could be removed from the English language.

3. I'll never outgrow _________.

4. _________ make(s) me feel old.

If you'd like to know how I answered these, just read on. My answers are in bold.

1. I got my first cell phone in 2003.
(It was near the end of my eighth grade year when I got my first cell phone. It was in part because I was about to head off on a week-long trip to Washington, D.C., with my eighth grade graduating class. Way back then, in order to be able to easily contact my parents to check in throughout that week, a very plain and basic cell phone found its way to me.)

2. I wish the word "bae" could be removed from the English language.
(For anyone who might not know, "bae" is one of those newer words that has been added to the dictionary in recent years. It means anything along the lines of "boyfriend", "girlfriend", "sweetheart", and the like. Apparently, it might simply be short for "baby" or "babe". "Bae", or "bæ", can also mean "poop" in Danish, so why, exactly, is it used as it is in the English language? This word really irks me, and I can't even fully explain why.)

3. I'll never outgrow cuddling furry cuties.
(I was known to hug any and every furry animal who would allow it when I was a child. There is actual video footage of my rude childhood self chasing down my grandma's sweet, good sport of a Samoyed dog for a hug. Not much has changed since those days. I still hunt down all the kitties and pups I know for cuddles. As an adult, I'm now that person who spends an entire social gathering hanging out with the nearest cat or dog rather than the people.)

4. Current trends make me feel old.
(I am so out of the loop. I see kids and their trends these days and can't help but think, "Wait, what?" Things have really, really changed since I was a kid. Fashion, music, TV shows, this thing known as technology, and all sorts of other things have totally gone haywire, at least to me. I really don't mind being out of the loop in most regards, though. I never understood any of the trends when I was a kid, either, so it's nothing new. And I have no problem going against the grain.)

Now, how about today's installment of the A to Z Challenge?

In case we haven't said it enough times already, our alphabetical series of doodles stars my angel Rosie. In this series of doodles, Rosie is going throughout a more or less routine sort of day, doing this and that, A to Z style. So, what's Rosie doing with the letter W?

W is for...Washing Your Face

Throughout this A to Z Challenge, we're also sharing furbaby photos that in some way correlate with angel Rosie's daily alphabetical adventures. To go along with today's A to Z topic of Washing Your Face, Evan wanted to show you the horror he has to endure for various cleanings.

Evan, my hind limb paralyzed little hero, sometimes has bathroom visits that go a little off the rails. That's when this stuff comes into play. He oft tells me to back off when he sees me holding that bottle, because he doesn't need help bathing, thank you very much. Then again, Evan is easily swayed with treats, so this here human usually does win this battle.

Happy Friday, friends!

Our Tip of the Day:

We already gave a tip on bathing your furbabings not long ago. Today's tip relates to that, but in a different way. Today's tip is a little idea on what you can do if your furbaby just needs a little wipe down or small cleanup. For example, what if your kitty or pup has manged to get a dirty face, or has remnants from a bathroom break on their rear end? For such cases, there are pet-friendly bath wipes on the market. Some fragrance-free baby wipes are also safe options, but to to err on the side of caution, wipes specifically formulated for dogs and cats are a good option. Another quick cleanup for kitties or pups are waterless shampoos. An example is the one in the photo with Evan above. Last year we reviewed that product, Burt's Bees waterless shampoo for cats, as part of the now obsolete Chewy.com Blogger Outreach Program, and it works great when hind limb paralyzed Evan needs a bit of a cleaning after a slightly unwieldy trip to his toilet. The important thing is to ensure any products you use to wipe or otherwise clean your furbaby are harmless and pet-friendly. When in doubt, consult your veterinarian on how to best give your furbaby any form of cleaning that might be necessary.

Gosh I'm TRULY out of the loop - not familiar with that "bae" word - never heard it used. I think things are SO different for kids growing up these days then in my day (dinosaurs were roaming the earth back then).

Hugs, Pam

Every generation feels out of the loop of what’s going on with those both above and below in age bracket. It’s okay, we all adapt.

We had a friend whose name was Bae, but she was born in the 70’s, so i’m not sure where it came from.

Have a great Friday!

We sure haven't heard that word, Bae, either. Love the doodle of Rosie have a bath. You all have a good weekend.

Bae is a word I've not heard of until today. You and someone else wants to get rid of it though.

Waterless bath sounds like a plan for some kitties.

Thank you for co-hosting the Friendly Fill-ins.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥

Gosh, you just gave me a terrific idea for The PO'M...waterless shampoo! Hmmm...
Say, do you watch 'Jeopardy!' on TV? The guy who is currently winning, winning, winning said that he studied by going into the children's section of libraries & bookstores, because those facts are the most up to date! Countries change their names, technology changes, but kid's reference books are on top of all of that. A lesson for those of us who know no younger movie stars, or their movies, or their names!

Great fill-in answers. I usually spend more time t gatherings with resident cats than people too. And I am so out of the loop that I had not heard of the word bae. Now that I do, I dislike it too. Great drawing and cute photo of Evan. Excellent tips too. Have a wonderful weekend! XO

With cats, the whole water thing is not much appreciated. Though I've noticed it more that they want water when they want water - instead of it being foisted on them. Bear used to play in his water bowl for hours ... stood outside in the pouring rain daring me to come get him ... but let's just say his last bath pretty much ensured I won't be doing that again. This product looks like a good compromise.

Hey bae! I'm not out of the loop. I like to keep the peeps guessing. I wish Gramma had all those cleaning wipes when she had Autumn and Autumn was too plumpy to clean back there. Instead Gramma would be washing her sheets almost every day. TW was also one who hung with the pets when she visited humans. Even cats who used to hide when company came would come out for her.

I am so with you on the word "bae." I don't even know how that one got started.

I love that Burts Bees stuff. It sounds promising. I need to check and see if I can get it here. I know BB stuff is popular with people for being natural so * adds to list *
