Friendly Fill-Ins

Hello and happy Friday! It's the day of the Friendly Fill-Ins, and we're ready to fill in those fill-ins. If you'd like to participate but missed the fill-in statements yesterday, I'll share them again here. Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two, and I came up with the second two.

1. October is the perfect month for _________.

2. The most recent purchase I made online was _________.

3. If I turned invisible for a day, _________.

4. _________ has gotten me in trouble in the past.

My answers to the fill-ins are below in bold.

1. October is the perfect month for sweaters and spookiness.
(Cool, crisp sweater weather and spooky Halloween vibes are why October is my favorite month of the year. We finally dipped beneath the 80°F mark yesterday, so I think sweater weather might finally be on the horizon around here. As for those spooky Halloween vibes, I've been scribbling up Halloween doodles and watching Halloween movies every day, so I'm feeling good and frightfully festive.)

2. The most recent purchase I made online was cat food.

3. If I turned invisible for a day, I would take advantage of the freedom.
(I'm admittedly not a people person. I enjoy interacting with people online, like all of you, but in person I quite enjoy holing up and keeping myself company. I am not a huge fan of chitchat or distractions, yet sometimes that's what you get from albeit well-meaning neighbors, coworkers, and sometimes even friends and family. That's why I feel like being invisible for a day would allow me to get a lot more done than usual, all while feeling relaxed and free to do what I want and when I want. That being said, I'd still want to be able to interact with my furbabies. Though, they seem to chase ghosts and other invisible things around the house on the daily, so I don't think that would be a problem.)

4. Being easily distracted by furry things has gotten me in trouble in the past.
(I often find myself in situations in which I'm supposed to be listening to someone or doing something, but then a cat of dog enters the scene and I'm all shades of distracted by their furry cuteness. This stems back all the way to before I could even walk, when my parents turned their back for a second and I crawled out of our yard and was later found playing with the neighbor's incredibly patient dog. Fast forward to college, where I studied animal sciences. Let me tell you, as an animal lover, it is really difficult to focus on a lecture when you are being taught in the vicinity of adorable kitties and pups. I have more than once in my life been accused of being a poor listener when there's a cat or dog nearby, but so be it.)

Are you ready for your Friday Eddy fix? It's another shot I snapped by sneaking up on the active, elusive girl and using the zoom function on my camera. That certainly took away from the overall quality of the photo, but at least you get to see Eddy's adorable face.

As you can see, this photo of Eddy also co-stars the dirty window. What's new?

Happy Friday, friends!

Halloween Doodle of the Day: Flashback Friday

I've been in a haunted sort of mood lately. You know, the spooky haunted house sort of mood. Though I generally dislike drawing buildings, simply because I'm just no good at it, I do enjoy doodling up a perfectly crooked haunted house. That's actually one of my favorite classic Halloween images to add to my sketchbook. I have some new haunted house doodles planned for the nearby future, so I thought I'd kick those off with a haunted house doodle I shared last October.

Halloween Tip of the Day

Our month-long Halloween tips continue. We've been mentioning the importance of being aware of what decorations you use, and of course keeping in mind your furbaby's safety. Today we're expanding on that even further. We're here today to remind you to also keep in mind wildlife, as well as stray and feral cats, when decorating outdoors. Cords to light strands, for example, can be just as dangerous to outdoor animals as they can be to indoor animals. The same goes for candles, such as those in jack-o'-lanterns that you might set up on your porch. So, for the safety of animals outdoors, make sure you use cords that are approved for outdoor use, and keep them as safely and securely hidden as possible. As for candles in jack-o'-lanterns, just as we mentioned for indoor furbabies, you can use battery-operated or other artificial candles. This can prevent burns or fires should an animal outdoor become curious of a lit jack-o'-lantern. Again, though, do keep in mind that batteries and plastic pieces can also pose threats to animals, so do still monitor them.

One other particular outdoor Halloween decoration we want to address are artificial cobwebs. Please use these with caution. These fake cobwebs could lead to animals outdoors becoming dangerously tangled. What's more, ingesting them can lead to issues such as bowel obstruction. Decorations such as artificial cobwebs might be fun and festive, but always keep the safety of both indoor and outdoor animals in mind when using any such products.

I also can't wait to start wearing sweaters again. The high temperature today is only supposed to be 77, but I still have a while to wait before I can stop sweating profusely outside.

Supposedly, our highs today will reach the upper 80s and hopefully will be 10 degrees cooler from yesterday. Our weather break might be finally here but I'm not holding my breath until I see where the thermometer lands later this afternoon. While I don't have furbabies, my adult human babies have distracted me enough to get me into trouble. I blame last December and January's mishaps on this very thing. My mind was on our oldest's problems. Very cute Halloween drawing! Thanks for hosting the Friday fun, my furriend!

Eddy, you're the star! Your answer about being distracted by furry things reminds me of my first BlogPaws. There was a photography session and the woman brought kittens to demonstrate what she was teaching. One found its way over in my direction and let's just say I didn't hear another word the entire session.

I love all your answers and I really bombed on #3. I went a different direction. Oh well.

Thank you for co-hosting the Friendly Fill-ins.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥

We really like that Eddy shot. She really is a pretty girl with such expression.
Lets see what Dad says for the fill-ins
1. Hot Apple Cider with a cinnamon stick
2. The Cat Fence
3. Don't really know. No need to be looking anywhere I am not allowed
4. Not paying attention. I knock a lot of things down and over. In fact much worse than the furs
Happy Friday Friends

I know that I would want to be the object of Eddy's look! That's scary!
Thank you for posting about fake cobwebs; I have a neighbor who has draped that stuff all over the front of her house, and I surreptitiously eyeball it every day to make sure there is nothing stuck!

I enjoyed all your answers, especially #4. That is cute that you went to visit the neighbor's dog when little. I love this sweater weather which we do have here now. Great drawing, I like the blue house. And excellent tips. No fake cobwebs here- definitely some real ones though :) I like spiders so I try not to disturb them. Have a nice weekend! XO

It is hard to concentrate with a furry in your lap, that is certain. It's especially difficult when they are climbing all over your keyboard.

Love your answers, especially #4! Even as a teen my head wouldn't turn when a cute boy walked by, but a fuzzy on the other hand...
