Happy Thursday! We don't know about you, but we're ready for Angel Sammy's Thoroughly Poetic Thursday Challenge.
For some reason, this image first brought to my mind the story of Snow White. Perhaps it was the mirror the little girl is holding and looking into. Perhaps that's why it got me thinking of that mirror, mirror on the wall, which told the wicked witch that she was not the fairest of them all. In fact, that's the basic idea I ran with for my poem. If you'd like to read my silly little rhyme, feel free to do so below.
Fairest of Them All
There once was a princess who was really quite vain.
She was full of herself, and her name was Elaine.
Every night, Elaine sat down at the vanity in her room.
In its mirror she admired her porcelain skin and her hair of great volume.
Gazing into that mirror one springtime eve,
Elaine applied her plethora of ointments and creams.
After all, looking old was not something of which she would dream.
She then powdered her cheeks and fluffed her golden hair,
Saying, "Tell me I'm not the fairest of them all, mirror. You wouldn't dare."
"You are not," was the reply that floated from the mirror.
The expression that jumped to Princess Elaine's face was both disgust and fear.
She said, "First of all, mirror, you can speak?
Second of all, what do you mean?"
Princess Elaine continued, "If not me, then who is the fairest of them all?
Tell me now, mirror attached to the vanity that sits against my wall!"
"You are not fairest of them all," the mirror plainly said.
"I know a female far fairer than you," it added as the princess shook her head.
It was then that Princess Elaine screamed and yelled and ran out of the room, crying.
To Princess Elaine, not being the fairest of them all felt a lot like dying.
Her royal little highness ran to her mother to tattle on the mirror,
Though in truth the mirror was not able to care even one ounce about Elaine's vain tears.
After Princess Elaine had fled from the room,
Something else did come in with a dash and a zoom.
Onto the vanity this newcomer jumped.
It was a pretty little feline with a calico coat, and the mirror she did bump.
In response to the intrusion, the mirror let out a grunt.
Then its voice said, "Ah, it's you, the feline they call Junebug."
The calico cat let out a purr, a mew, and a happy little chuff.
There was more to be said by the mirror attached to the vanity that sat against the wall.
What it said was, "I always enjoy a visit from you, Junebug, who are the fairest one of them all."

I love your poem. My great niece and I play Snow White all the time with her Barbies. I have been looking for a talking mirror like her mom had as a kid.
Cute drawing and excellent tips. No dryer sheets here, I use wool balls. XO
Adorable poem......I love the name "Junebug".....my Aunt June was called "Junebug" by her brother (my Dad) and my Uncle (June's hubby) and she was one of my all time favorite people EVER. I happily have JUNE as my middle name.
Hugs, Pam
Thimble is lovely, and yes, cats are beautiful. Humans can be so jealous and envious it makes them ugly.
