Friendly Fill-Ins

If you visit us regularly, you probably know what today is. It's the day of the Friendly Fill-Ins! In case you missed them yesterday, we'll share them again below. Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two, and I came up with the second two.

1. I would like tickets to _________.

2. Please don't ask me to _________.

3. I'd rather _________ than _________.

4. By this time next year, _________.

I took a turn to fill those in myself. See?

1. I would like tickets to the Cat Writers' Association conference.
(Now, just to clarify, I am not currently a member of the CWA. That being said, I do have hopes of becoming a member sometime in the future. Even though I'm not presently a member of the CWA, I really admire the association and its writers. What's more, as a cat lover who also quite enjoys reading and writing, I think a CWA conference would be my kind of shindig.)

2. Please don't ask me to make small talk.
(I'm really just no good at it. I've always been an introvert, and small talk is, without a doubt, not my forte.)

3. I'd rather stay home than go on vacation.
(I'm pretty sure I've mentioned my homebody nature many times before here on our blog. I quite honestly would choose to stay home rather than go on vacation. In fact, my maternal aunt is planning a huge family vacation to Florida in November. It would actually be a nearly all-expenses paid vacation. Nevertheless, I'm not going. I most certainly appreciate and have thanked my aunt for organizing this family event, but I would honestly, 100% rather stay home with my furbabies, and so I am doing just that.)

4. By this time next year, I hope to be in the final stages of completing some illustrated tales.
(I'm thinking I've also mentioned this endeavor on our blog before. I have always loved to come up with and write stories. I've also always loved to draw. That's why one of my lifelong dreams has been to write and illustrate my own stories or books. It wasn't until recently, though, that I've finally gotten far more serious about this and am now determined to accomplish it.)

Can you guess what's up next in our post today? It's your Friday Eddy fix! Seeing these photos of Eddy (well, seeing any photos of Eddy, really), you'd think today was a special bloopers edition. But, no. This is just what Eddy looks like, most especially when the camera shows up.

Typical Eddy.

We hope all of you have a fabulous Friday!

Our Tip of the Day:

Believe it or not, we still have a couple tips left in our litter box series. Today's tip is to consider regularly replacing litter boxes as they grow old and overused. Some cat care professionals recommend brand new litter boxes on a yearly basis. At the very least, do take note of how old your cat's litter box is and what shape it's in, and replace it as needed.

There are a couple of considerations to make when deciding whether or when to replace a litter box. First, keep in mind that plastic litter boxes can become adorned with scrapes and scratches from cat claws, and those scratches on plastic litter boxes can ultimately harbor a variety of microbes. This can, of course, ultimately lead to potentially unsanitary conditions within the litter box. In addition to that, ammonia and other components of excrement can potentially leach into the plastic of litter boxes over time. This can make lingering odors, such as that of urine, more or less permanent, which could very well be unpleasant to those sharp noises of our kitties. The aforementioned are just two reasons why regularly replacing old litter boxes may indeed be a good idea. As we've said before, maintaining a fresh, clean litter box can be crucial to sharing your home with a happy, healthy feline.

That sounds like a very interesting conference.

I don't like small talk either. I call it "weather channel" conversations and I can't stand it. I am introverted as well. Give me a REAL conversation, about stuff that matters!

I look forward to your book adventure. I love the images you share here on your blog. It looks like that kitty has found a fun way to read a book.:)

Have a blessed weekend!

A cat with a prehensile tail, wow! That's a good one.

Good luck on writing and illustrating your own stories, i know you can do it and look forward to seeing them.

At times, I also have trouble making small talk. Great answers. Have a great weekend!

Super fill-ins.....good luck with the CWA - I agree it's an awesome organization. I'm happiest at home but do enjoy getting away overnight sometimes OR on a mini-vacation. My husband is the same way so that's convenient! I think your plan to publish your stories and do your own illustrations is PERFECT. You need to do that....if I can do it YOU can do it only way better than I did.......

Hugs, Pam

I love these photos of Eddy, especially the last one- I think she is telling you what she thinks of the camera. Great fill-in answers. I think the CWA would be proud to have you as a member. We had the same answer for #3 :) It is too bad you can't go for a day or two though to at least see Harry Potter's theme park. And I am sure you can be a successful children's writer/illustrator. Cute drawing and excellent tips. Have a nice weekend! XO

Great fill-ins! THe CWA conference was held here in Houston this summer. I didn't know about it or I'd have loved to meet up with some of my cat blogging friends.

Great fill-ins! We still don't understand the point of CWA and accept that we're probably just dense. Seeing your book of illustrations is exciting and we hope you do create one! Back when Mom was really, really poor, she used aluminum turkey roasting pans for litter boxes and knew it was time to change them out when Thanksgiving came around again. We don't use those pans now (haven't for decades) but she always mentions it's time to swap out the boxes every Thanksgiving when those pans show up in grocery stores!

Thanks for co-hosting Friendly Fill-ins. Always a fun hop.

Except for boating, I'd rather stay home than go on vacation. Traveling days are over for us and we're just fine with that.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥

ROFLOL!
Love, love, LOVE the doodle of kitty hanging from the tree! Too cute!
I too want to join CWA, but when I think about including my writing (ie. blog post), I get too nervous that I'm not going to pick the 'bestest' one...oh dear...

Great fill ins. I especially like your answer to #1. That sounds like a great conference to go to. Have a great weekend!

I'm sure you've covered this, but washing litter boxes goes a long way. We're dying right now in Arizona, but leaving a scrubbed litter box outside to bake in our dry summer heat cures a lot of litter box ills. There's always a bright side.

Meowza, we hate small talk too! If you don't have something interesting or important to say, then just stop meowing!

Oh Eddy! You are so cute!

You should definitely join the CWA. There are many bloggers who are members, myself included. I'm sure one of us would love to sponsor you. ~Island Cat Mom

You, um, can't stay at home AND go to the CWA conference. TW won't go unless it's in easy driving distance and she can bum a ride. MOL!
1. I would like tickets to SF to visit Spitty.
2 Please don’t ask me to purr.
3. I’d rather bite than switch.
4. By this time next year, TW might want to blog again.

I completely agree with you on 2 and 3, and am super excited about 4. As for number 1, if you're looking for a sponsor, I would be delighted to!

I'm pretty sure you don't have to be a member of CWA to go to the Conference. I'm a new member, but I'd support your application! I prefer to stay home too ... and ditto what you said about small talk. What's the point? No one's really asking or answering anything real!

Those are so dramatic Eddy. Wow you can mug for the camera!!

Cute kitties. I've never heard of CWA. Sounds like an interesting organization. I hope you become a member soon and get to attend the conference. Great fill-ins.
