Friendly Fill-Ins and Flashback Festivities

Happy Friday, friends! We hope all of our US friends had a blessed Thanksgiving yesterday, and that your day was filled with family, friends, and lots of food.

Now, who's ready for the Friendly Fill-Ins? In case you missed them yesterday, we'll share the fill-in statements again here. Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two, and I came up with the second two.

1. Black Friday _________.

2. A pet peeve of mine at this time of year is _________.

3. 'Tis the season for _________.

4. I never jumped on the _________ bandwagon.

I took a turn to feel these in myself, and here's how I did:

1. Black Friday is the day I deck the halls.
(Though I am always beyond tempted to decorate my house for Christmas far earlier, I do try to give Thanksgiving its just due. The day after Thanksgiving, though, that's the day when the Christmas decorations come out and the house becomes a winter wonderland.)

2. A pet peeve of mine at this time of year is Elf on the Shelf.
(I mean no offense to anyone who uses Elf on the Shelf for their children, but I personally find the little guy creepy and unnecessary. For those who don't know, Elf on the Shelf is an elf doll that parents will place around the home, telling their kids that said elf is watching them to know who is being naughty and nice leading up to Christmas. I wouldn't want to see that little fellow floating around my house, and I just don't know that I, personally, agree with this tactic to get children to behave.)

3. 'Tis the season for 24/7 Christmas music.
(It's officially the time of year when I play Christmas music at home, in the car, at work, and pretty much anywhere I go. All the time. Nonstop.)

4. I never jumped on the pumpkin spice bandwagon.
(It seems like as soon as September hits, it's pumpkin spice everything. I've never partaken in that sentiment. Though I love pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice everything else is simply a no-go for me.)

Every Friday, you get your dose of Eddy girl. Today, you're getting a flashback dose of Eddy doing what she loves to do this time of year.

Eddy's favorite thing about the Christmas season is, by far, the Christmas tree. I don't even try to stop her anymore, because no one will get between her and her Christmas tree. I have simply learned to decorate the Christmas tree around Eddy. In other words, Eddy-induced ornament casualties resulted in said ornaments being hung from garland on the wall rather than on the tree.

Nowadays, my favorite ornament on the Christmas tree is Eddy.

Wishing you all a festive Friday!

Our Tip of the Day:

November is National Pet Diabetes Awareness Month. So, for the rest of the month, we'll be giving tips related to this disease. To begin, we'll start with a tip that you all certainly already know. And that is, to be very vigilant with regard to your furbaby's behavior and appearance, keeping an eye out for signs of diabetes, and of course for signs of any disease. How often is your kitty or pup drinking? How often are they urinating? What is the volume of their urine? The color of it? Has their appetite increased? Has it decreased? Does their fur look dry and dull? Are they less active than usual? Have any of these things changed recently? How recently? These are just some of the questions that, as a pet parent, you have to ask yourself on a regular basis. Regularly observe and check your kitty or pup for any changes in their behavior and appearance. What's more, as always, if you have any concerns, consult your veterinarian.

Eddy, you make a terrific Christmas tree ornament. Too cute. Your fill-ins were terrific too. Have a great day.

For some reason the link didn't work for me today. I will try again later. We had the same answer about pumpkin spice. LOL Have a great weekend!

Such a cute doodle!
We really don't do Christmas, or any other holiday much, not having children of our own. But, we usually take one evening and drive around the neighborhoods, looking at the decorated homes.

We're with you on 2 and 4. TW does love pumpkin bread and muffins besides pie as long as they don't have "spice" in the title. I wish I had a fake tree to climb but I'll have to settle for my new Tower of Power.

Eddy loves the Christmas tree. Adorable.

This is the first I've heard of the elf monitoring kids. I don't care for that idea either.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. Scritches to Eddy. ♥

Eddy makes a great ornament. I don't know anything about Elf on the Shelf. The way you describe it one would think Chucky on the Shelf might be a little less creepy. Have a blessed week.

Great answers! I never got the Elf on the Shelf thing either, and for awhile I got hooked on pumpkin spice but got sick of it. Give me peppermint mochas anyday.

There are a couple of families i've known that love the Elf. Their kids want that more than any other decoration, they want to show Santa how good they are being.

Love Eddy-in-a-Tree, her and the doodle.

Great fill-in answers. I shopped today, but tomorrow I will be decorating too :) I find the elf a little creepy too, but my niece had me get one for Rylee and I just had to get one for Zoe's first Christmas. I am not a fan of the $30 price tag with no coupons eligible. I could never get into pumpkin spice either. Eddy is the cutest Christmas ornament. I have a feeling Trouble will be one too :)Cute photo and great tips too. Have a wonderful weekend! XO

I've heard for years now about Elf on the Shelf, but didn't know what it was other than an elf doll. I do think what you described sounds creepy and like a very good way to make children terrified of dolls. That isn't a good thing. That would be akin to following me around with a clown. That wouldn't make me a particularly happy OR obedient child. I would be likely to act out in a less than pleasing manner.

What is your favorite Christmas song? Mine is Oiche Chiun by Enya. It is the most peaceful version of Silent Night that I have ever heard. In English, my favorite songs are What Child is This? (I don't know the singer) and Hallelujah! He is Born by Sawyer Brown.

Have a blessed weekend. :)

Oops! I missed commenting on Eddy the Ornament! How cute! Our Angel Xerxes also loved the Christmas tree. What a sweet doodle, too. :)

Mom has used that method for ornaments...hanging them from garland over windows and doors. Her glass ornaments go on a tree behind closed doors; though, we rather lie under the tree then climb it. Mom wants to start decorating after she and Dad get home this weekend. It takes her forever. Absolutely love today's doodle and the Eddy in the tree photos. We don't decorate much any more, so I like seeing everyone else's decorations this time of year.
Not sure about the Elf...my grandson really likes doing this, though.
Eddy is the best ornament ever! :)
