Friendly Fill-Ins

Welcome to Friday! Are you ready for the Friendly Fill-Ins? In case you missed the fill-in statements yesterday, I'll share them again here. Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two, and I came up with the second two.

1. _________ is tasty.

2. If I was going to a Halloween party, I would go as _________.

3. If everything goes according to plan, _________.

4. _________ is the spookiest thing I have ever experienced.

I filled these in myself, and my answers are below in bold.

1. Gummy candy is tasty.
('Tis the season for candy! I am one of those people who really enjoys gummy bears, gummy worms, and all that gummy yumminess. I'm just as likely to grab a pack of gummy candy as I am to grab a chocolate bar. I'm also that weirdo who puts gummy bears on ice cream, because for some reason I enjoy that sort of masochism.)

2. If I was going to a Halloween party, I would go as a cat.
(Duh! Actually, as much as I look forward to and thoroughly enjoy Halloween, I don't do much in the way of a costume. I'm that person who simply buys and wears those gaudy headbands and necklaces that glow and flash. That being said, if I had to pick a costume, you better believe I'd dress as a cat. It was my favorite childhood costume, and I have no doubt it would be my favorite adulthood costume.)

3. If everything goes according to plan, I'll have written a novel by the end of the year.
(I love writing, and I've mentioned before that I have been working on getting onto paper some of the stories that live inside my head. I've written short stories and novellas in the past, and of course weekly poems for this blog, but writing a full-length novel is not something I have truly accomplished yet. It's always been a dream of mine, though. I believe I've hinted at all of this a couple times in the past, and I was going to give more details here, but I guess I'll at least wait until I prove to myself that I can finish a novel.)

4. A nighttime ghost tour of Colonial Williamsburg is the spookiest thing I have ever experienced.
(This was my favorite part of my 8th grade field trip to Washington, D.C., and its surrounding areas. I have always enjoyed spooky tales and haunted houses, as well as colonial era history, which altogether is probably why I really enjoyed the nighttime tour of Colonial Williamsburg while hearing its ghost stories and urban legends. Some of the stories were also legitimately creepy and spooky, which was more than fine with me.)

Your Friday fix of Eddy comes in the form of some photos that I'll admit have atrocious lighting and poor quality overall. Then again, Eddy is the blooper queen, so it's not like her photos are ever award-winning. Anyway, I really wanted to share these photos despite their quality, or lack thereof, because it shows one of my girl Eddy's funny and cute little habits.

My bed is not only covered in pet beds and pet blankets, but also a paper bag. Why? Because Eddy really loves paper bags. To get her to settle down at night I often have to give her a paper bag on my bed. She loves to play in paper bags, to ambush me from paper bags, and also, thankfully, to sleep in paper bags.

Luckily, when a paper bag is on my bed, Eddy most often snoozes in it rather than going berserk in it like she does to bags that are placed elsewhere.

I snapped the above images one night when Eddy essentially dragged her paper bag next to me in bed so as to sleep closer to me. All I could do was turn on a less-than-helpful bedside lamp, but even though that resulted in dark and low-quality photos, I wanted to share them nonetheless. Eddy and I both hope you enjoyed these candid paper bag shots of Eddy in bed!

Happy Friday, friends!

Halloween Doodle of the Day: Flashback Friday

Today's flashback doodle is of course one of last year's Halloween doodles. I chose this specific one because it's a bit witchy, and my next series of doodles is going to be a bit witchy. More specifically, my next handful of doodles will be all about a witch of a cat lady and her beloved cats. So, here's a bit of a flashback prequel to that.

Halloween Tip of the Day

Yesterday's Halloween tip was about the benefits of feeding pumpkin to your furbabies. Today's tip is related to this, but is about a part of the pumpkin that isn't as often discussed with regard to a furbaby's diet. Though we've mentioned these before, we're again talking about pumpkin seeds. If fed in a manner that is safe, pumpkin seeds can have health benefits for our furbabies, just as they can for humans. For example, pumpkin seeds contain valuable nutrients, and they can have anti-inflammatory properties. It is also believed by some that pumpkin seeds have some deworming properties as well.

All of the above being said, if you decide to offer pumpkin seeds to your kitty or pup, of course do so safely. First, feed them only as an occasional treat or food topper. In addition, if the seeds are a potential choking hazard, you can cut them into small pieces. Also, of course, ensure that the pumpkin seeds are plain, and that they do not contain any added ingredients, such as onion, garlic, or even salt or sugar. We'll again also add that, should your furbaby have any health concerns, of course first discuss adding anything such as pumpkin seeds to your furbaby's diet with your veterinarian.

I enjoyed all your answers and I am excited about this novel- I can't wait to read it. I am guessing there is at least a cat in it :) Not a fan of gummies, give me chocolate any day. I like those ghost tours, we went on one in Plymouth, MA. It was fun, but not particularly spooky. These photos of Eddy are fantastic. It is nice to see some clear shots of that adorable face, such pretty eyes. Cute drawing and excellent tips too. Have a nice weekend! XO

Gummy bears on ice cream? OK. Nicky used to like ham chunks in his so I can't really say anything. Those pics of Eddy look fine to me.

I visited Williamsburg (and Jamestown) about 30 years ago, and would so much like to go back! My mother still has glass candle holders that she purchased in Jamestown, and I remember watching a woman make fancy bookbinding paper.
